Episode 11.2: Karazhan

Project Lore and pals fight their way through Karazhan to find The Celestial Observatory and its dragon guard, Netherspite. Will Project Lore knock this dragon down to earth or will they get smacked-zoomed to the moon? Find out in this episode of Project Lore.

As Karazhan is a 10-man raid, the guys wrangled in five members of the Totally Rad Guild to help them out. Here are the armories for everyone involved: DrDark, Lylelovett, Goggins, Dorkins, Xenophontos, Manifesto, Talonni, Bastosa, Wyche, and Wilx. They're almost to the end of this long instance, so watch how things turn out!

Remember that our subscribe page has links for Project Lore all over the web. You can use our Episodes RSS feed or Twitter to find out when new episodes are out, and don't forget to join our Facebook Group, Facebook Page, and MySpace.

We've got our next installment of Ten Days of Knight, a Death Knight special tomorrow, and more Kara on Friday. Stay tuned!

Audio at the start seemed a little off but at at least it was trash and it worked out later.

Gotta say that this was, in many ways, potentially the best episode yet for me. The sense of crisis mid fight, the orders coming thick and fast, and the eventual success made this one.

I've heard of, but never done, this boss and for me the information and enjoyment that are combined watching this can not be paralleled (yet).

You guys really need to work on equalizing your sound levels, it's ridiculous. Bring up the levels on the sync audio to match that of the sound fx and music; you're probably just not putting enough gain on the mic/line mix into the camera in the first place though. It really is not fun/easy to watch the show when I have to ride my volume knob constantly.

Sorry for the complaint, but I'm a full-time videographer/editor myself. Everything else about the show is great though, keep up the good work.

LMFAO!!!! Greatest Netherspite fight ever!

The only complaint I have about the episode, is the censoring. You have a web comic strip where you say Fuck and stuff like that, and on previous episodes, Fuck is uncensored, and sometimes it is censored. In a situation like that, the censor *bleep* really detracts from the autmosphere that you guys create while playing. You can get really excited, and sucked in, then that beep, especially if its more then once in a few seconds, really is a huge bring down.

In those hairy situations, people will be saying what they will, and it just makes it that much better, more intense, and just plain more exciting to watch, so excessive editing, or building up or down around that just detracts from the excitement.

So without the bleeps, would be awesome!

Hey, as a solution, how about adding a log in feature to the site, and if your not logged in, the shows are censored. if You are, you have an option to disable the censors?

The audio for the hosts was bad in this episode. They all sounded really hollow or like they were not miced at all and the camera mic was the only thing picking them up. Did you forget to turn there mics on? You to EQ them.

This was really a great episod just like the rest of them!
It's just fantastic how you guys manage to combine humor and information for everything, and i can't wait for the next episode to be releast!

Keep up the good work fellows!

Awesome episode again guys. Even though the sound was a bit off in the beginning, I don't see the problem people are making out of it. It was good enough to understand you guys.

We went into Kara yesterday with the new patch, and it has all become easymode. Netherspite for instance went down just when he was trying to go into the void for the first time. It's not even funny anymore.

This episode was though. Funny as hell!
Oh, and I second the opinion on the curses and swearing. Don't bleep it please.

Cheers

While it's a trivial fight since the patch with all bosses nerfed by 30%, there are still a few points about the fight which may be worth knowing which you didn't mention (or may not be aware of).

1. The beams in the first portal phase are always in the same place. Red left, Green right, Blue back.
2. Any dps can stand in the blue beam, not just casters. It gives a 1% per tick buff to all damage, not just spellcasts. Warlocks are best for it of course, because with Drain Life they can stay in it as long as they like with minimal healing.

Very funny episode, loved it.

Great episode. I liked how you took an ugly situation and talked it through it in order to come out ahead. I think a group is good when they can improvise, because unless you are farming an instance/raid you will have to improvise once or twice.

So was Wyche just having a bad run or what? Seemed like every boss there was a death or screw up of some sort. Maybe Dorkins can challenge for the title of best hunter in the guild.

Best episode so far, loved it :)

There was a lot of yelling in our vent channel that no one gets to hear too. This fight was hilarious to be involved with. At least I had 4k dps. :)

October 17, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTalonni

Loved the episode. One of the funniest ones yet.

There was some issues with the audio in the beginning, but it got better towards the end.

Oh man - so this fight FINALLY airs.

So, in my defense:

A) I had done this fight twice before this run (always managed to miss it most of the time)

B) Had never been on beams before and was like... WTF??

and yeah... not being able to talk back was a bit hard again ;]

October 17, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterWyche

Ok so a quick blip for the beams:

Green beam: Heals him if it hits him. You want preferably someone without mana to grab it because it sucks their mana away.

Red beam: Decreases the damage he takes if it hits him. You preferably want someone with a lot of health / armor, to be able to somewhat increase the amount of ticks they can take before they die.

Blue beam: Increases his damage if it hits him. You preferably want a warlock in them if you can. They give major spell damage, but they can kill you if you aren't careful. *This person would be the focus target for healers*

I have to say, with all the problems you had, I was suprised you didn't wipe. But you guys are great at adjusting yourselves, which is nice.

My first time doing Netherspite was a mess. We had a colorblind tank, which we knew he was, but we were under stress, so when yelling out colors it was confusing for him.

When yelling out where the colors will be, people like to use "the windows" , "the bookcase" , and "the desk" to direct people. not sure if that will help for other people or not.

Btw, DrDark, you were wrong. There are 2 dragons in Karazhan. You forgot Nightbane!!

October 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTogarox

Hello, again wonderful episode but that sound quality was awful again. I mean, I hear the mates talking so quiet and then the *Flame* shows on the screen BAM so loud. And after 1/2 of the movie their speech became really bad quality. I hope you will work on this. ty Keep up the good work.

October 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGoldLiker

@Togarox

Nightbane is technically outside of Karazhan (on the terrace). That is what he meant, not that there was only one dragon in the instance but rather inside the tower itself. My pet dragon whelpling was inside the tower with us though!

October 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTalonni

I know you guys said it wasn't a "model" fight, but really I think you're wrong.

I've seen from comments that lots of folks watching the vids have never done Kara yet, so I think it's great when they see this fight and see you having to regroup on the fly.

Sure, it's lovely when this fight goes as planned, but to be honest, I don't think that has happened to us once yet - there's always someone on the wrong side of the red beam, or standing too long in a void zone, or just an unlucky hit, etc.

Good work on getting it done!
