What Happens When You Are "Done?"

I've touched on this before, when talking about a lack of end game in the current content. But once again I personally have reached an interesting point in the life of my Paladin. When Wrath first came out, and I first got a look at all of the loot tables I spent a great deal of time planning my gear. I found every piece I wanted, determined what was the best in each slot, debated what set bonus were worth while, and finally came up with my "gear plan." More or less I  decided exactly what I wanted my character to look like when I had everything I wanted.

Well last week I reached that point. With the exception of a few changes I made along the way as I gained a better understanding of end game bosses, my gear is exactly how I wanted it.

What I am saying is there are no longer any pieces I want to drop, I have it all! There may be a few side grades here and there, but nothing that I absolutely must have for my character. There are no upgrades for me, so to speak.

I know a few other people that find themselves in this same situation. It is interesting to see how they are dealing with it. I, for one, love raiding. I don't plan on stopping, but at the same time there is little reason to go anymore. Sure, I am still chasing down a few last achievements, but gear as a motivation is completely out of the equation. In a certain way, I feel like I have beaten the unbeatable game.

Others in my shoes it seems have stopped playing all together, meanwhile I have been burying myself in an alt (loving the shaman!). I find myself logging on my paladin only for raids, and even then I am willing to sit out if another tank is chasing a drop. I really feel like I have been left no choice but shelve my main, at least until Ulduar.

I know I can always find something to do, but I am hard pressed to find something I want to do. It is such an odd feeling, and one I have never experienced before.

Any of you guys finding yourself in the same boat (or have you in the past)? If so, how are you feeling about it?

/sigh

Look, if you played wrath for this long of Course you can get to this point. it happens all the time to core raider's. But to say there's Nothing left is a load of lies. With the new Dual speccing System coming out And the new patch Ulduarr, work on your Offset's so you won't suck at it when you actually choose, or your guild needs you as something Else.

I've fallen into a similar situation. I don't really need a whole lot from raids, and I've been a Prot. Pally for the majority of my WoW career. So I decided to give the other specs a try, so far being a DPS Pally in a raid is actually a fun and relaxing change. I like being able to stand back and hit things and just do the usual of not "standing in the fire". Not that a dps job isn't hard or anything but I see it as a definite relief from tanking over the years.

Time to expand the single-player mindset, and explore the true strength of an MMO.

I have one piece of advice.
QUIT FUCKING BITCHING
We can already download the data for the new patch so obviously it's coming in the very near future.
If you JUST got all your gear that you wanted then you spent a good amount of time in the content to get it. That was Blizzards plan.
All I have to say is...there is no reason to keep complaining about something that Blizzard has worked out. If your that pissed off about it...quit. We could do without your useless dribble you post on here.

Luckily, my job and the hours it requires keeps me from being able to fully explore my WoW addiction anymore. I'm still not all the way geared as I'd like to be. I haven't completed every heroic yet. I still have some stuff to do.

If I didn't, I'd definitely either ressurect my old 41 shammy or go back and do as many low lvl quests as I can, if only to gain rep with the old factions (I have never been a fan of rep grinding) and perhaps inch close to the Loremaster title.

C'mon, there's ALWAYS something to do!

and, @ Likkitysplit- If you don't have anything nice ro constructive to say, keep that piehole shut. This isn't trade or barrens chat.

i think you should quit, doesnt sound like your having fun

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterZeb

i think the main reason most of us are bored are because of some of the points like not enough raids to do only 4 different ones 8 if you inc 25man unlike lvl 70 there were loads to do easy to get 70 exploring different raids.

stuff like that made the game fun but now standing at 4 different raids kinda sux sorry blizz but i am starting to get increasingly bored once you brought out WOTLK you could of at least upgraded stuff like ZA KZ to lvl 80 would of made it alot more fun.

i currently stand with full 25 man epic gear cant possibly get many more upgrades only like 3 or 4 not inc new ulduar raid.

Anyway i may try to get new gear for the dual spec might try occupy myself with that and thanks for reading:D

It's certainly a pitfall when you have a narrow view of the game that is merely gear-centric.

I was astonished at the mad rush, the urge for status and this strange feeling of a race against time that so many players fell into when the expansion came out. This urgency busted my guild apart as others dashed to more immediate guilds, abandoning long time friends.

Once one falls for the "gotta have the best gear" (contrary to the idea of bring the player not the class/gear/stats voiced by the designers) too many people will, indeed, feel just like you do. Sympathies.

Spread it out some. Take tangents on achievements, pets, professions and alts. I shudder to think I'd each some kind of end game in WoW where there was nothing to do but sit on my big mammoth in Iron Forge, yikes.

So; World of Warcraft has become beatable...? Simple - find a new game, as has been said by other posters.

The apathy brought about by impatience & disillusion should be kept to sites where debate &/or criticism is/are welcomed... not hosted on a site where people come to be encouraged to try content they may not feel is within their reach.

Just because the game isn't being developed at the pace you complete it at, don't feel the need to put a wrench in the works for players who don't feel the need to race through the game at break-neck speed.

Have you completed ALL the heroics on EVERY dungeon in the game...? (OK; you probably have...)

Are you Exalted with EVERY faction you've chosen to ally with...?
Heaven forbid that Exalted with RAVENHOLDT or THE SYNDICATE is deemed 'too laborious'. If it isn't what you play the game for, then fine, but it's something 'to do' & maybe you'll get a 'Realm First' - how many of THOSE do you have...?

Project Lore is about ENJOYING WoW, not discouraging those who still get 'something' out of playing it, FROM playing it...

... just my 2c...

Interesting, apparently this post read a lot more negative than I intended.

Sure, I complained that there wasn't any more loot for me to strive after. But I also mentioned that I love raiding, love my alt, and don't plan on stopping playing WoW anytime soon. :)

Just trying to share MY experiences and promote discussion here, certainly didn't mean to offend or discourage anyone.

On that note, I've said it before, but here we go again. Please feel free to criticize the content of my post, but the personal attacks are a bit uncalled for. Grow up people.

I do feel the same. I have 3 more items to get and then i got unupgradable gear. What I do now is I collect achivements and in special Mounts. I managed to get the ZG one and Im really into collecting mounts:D

You know my equip is not the best and there are a few more improvements in heroic raids but to be honset I dont enjoy it - because it is the same every week. One Nax run pls, one OS pls and so. To be honest next patch would be here sooner tha zhe 3.1. Yep I mean 3.2 and so beacuase with new patch there will not so much improvements (dual specs, Ulduar, few more achievments). And I hope that Blizzard will made Tier 8 sets more usefull than Tier 7 (to be honest my gear contains only one T7 - not even T7.5 but I can assure you that ithis gear is in may ways better than Tier one. And if oyu dont believe me just check it - Withy on EU-Nagrand.

Bastosa,

Of course its amazingly offensive when someone else might be running out of endgame content, and you totally deserve to be jumped! =D

=) kidding.

well i know exactly what u mean. but as a paladin for a main.., i am a ret paladin for as long as i remeber even Pre Wotlk, i also hit the same problem as u r and got all the gear i wanted (exept for the ruthfulness ring which seem to be reluctent to drop!) anyways when i got all the ret gear i wanted ive decided to check the other 2 talent trees my paladin have.. ive started with protection. which i realy enjoyed for a time. and after getting some of the better gear i also got tired of it.( cuase after all im a ret pala and i love being 1 .. BUT ... i currently holy specc and im loving it.. its not the same as tanking when u know the bosses by heart and u do the same thing over and over again.. healing keeps u in the game.. u need to be sharp all the time.

anyways what i wanted to say is,, try checking some of the other options u main has to offer.

I'm in a similar boat with my Level 80 Gnome Mage. Sort of. I never really was one for raiding (I'm more into a solo game) and leveling and learning new spells was my favourite part of the game.

After hitting 80 I started to work on Achievements and getting my profs up. I even managed to get fishing up to Grand Master. However, I started to get bored with going on my 80 just to do dailies -- so I've started a Tauren Druid. I needed to feel the joy of dinging, the excitement of learning something new! I'm really enjoying it, and now I go on my Mage every few days just to check up on Guildies and maybe to do Wintergrasp *^_^*

It helps a bit that I went from Alliance to Horde (OMG TRAITOR!) so now I get slightly different quests and both sides of the lore. The first time around I would just take a quest and go, but this time I'm taking my time and reading the quests to get a more full experience of that aspect of the game.

As long as you dont take my ret loots, I'll still let you raid with the guild. Satan Bastosa.

March 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSohott

I would not know the feeling of "all geared out" because my guild has the worst luck with KT loot!! We've had Naxx25 on farm since first week of January 09'.

Drop number of each item from then till now- The Turning Tide(7) Envoy of Immortality(6) Sinister Revenge(3) Voice of Reason(2) Wall of Terror-Torch of Holy Fire(1) Calamity's Grasp-Betrayer of Humanity-Journey's End-Last Laugh(0!!! WTF!!)

I hate seeing players with blues wielding Betrayer of Humanity because they lucked out in PuG!! Averaging 2.4K dps with the best melee-hunters(maybe) weapon in game...ZOMG!

My guild isn't the best but certainly far from being the worst. we clear naxx25 in 2.5hours...please hook us up with some more endgame weapons!

Well, for awhile, i felt that way with my Hunter. But, then i finally started raiding. Haha, yes, my very first raid EVER was level 80 25-man Naxx.
All i had on was gear from the 80 heroics. But, going from 5-man heroics, to a 25-man heroic RAID was such a big change. The bosses had insane amounts of health that looked impossible to burn down. There was always a countdown going on my screen that made me nervous. Also, hearing people yell at me for noobish mistakes over vent was kinda nerve-shattering.

Needless to say, i did horrible. But, since then, ive gotten a better understanding of how to raid and learned all the fights. Even Malygos, which, i havn't even tried yet.

As of now, i'm in 2/5 T 7.5 gear and i've gotten most of it enchanted and gemmed up. But, recently my free time has depleted to almost non existance. So, only thing i do on WoW these days is the cooking daily and the Icecrown dailys. So, heh, i've alloted a vair amount of gold.
