Hey, mr. tankatastic, I have something that might help you, a macro I came up with. goes like this:

/cast shield slam
/cast shield block

Now, with the new 100% shield block they released, you can be blocking much more. This has come much more handy due to the spec-bought "sword and board" proc. Because you would be hitting that button more often to get shield slam, you are more likely to NOT miss the cooldown on shield block. Those 10 seconds of being near-unhittable would really help, especially in this fight where that guy is spanking you within the first few seconds.

PS: If you want to make sure that sheld block takes rage before shield slam, put that one first (of course)

Great job guys. Nice job with coming up with a strategy. Sometimes trial and error is the only way to figure it out.

Good work on getting the boss down. Fighting bosses for the first time without a good strategy is always a challenge.

Great job. Nice to see a bit of tension in the group when it is not going your way. Imagine what a pug is going to be like.

To avoid "Battle stance" You MUST NOT Kill THE Adds, still you can kill only one(with the lower lvl if the levels are not the same).

I done it numerous times.

Also Remember to tank him on the ramp after he loses the buff.

While I'm sure it made sense at the time I love the idea of "Lets Hex Triangle and Moon, and then lets kill Triangle right away!"

October 31, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDunnion

i noticed towards the end that shnobella had that lightningy debuff but he wasn't taking damage so im wondering if it only hurts if you move like in shade of arran flame wreath?

This episode was painful to watch. Glad they finally got him.

When you guys got the charge debuff if you moved you took damage... don't do that lol

Alex I know you're running into a few mana conservation problems with your arcane spec, so here's a few tips.

1) Use Mage Armor in dungeons rather than Molten Armor. The 30% mana regeneration is really good and this coupled with Student of the Mind (+15% total spirit) and Arcane Meditation (another 30% mana regen while casting) mean you are constantly regenerating a significant amount of your mana. This also helps shorten downtime while soloing.

2) Your spell rotation, while it would have worked pre-3.0, sucks now primarily because they nerfed Arcane Blast so goddamn hard. Spam Arcane Blast followed by Arcane Barrage, back and forth until Missile Barrage procs, then back to the spam. This is to avoid the Arcane Blast debuff, which makes the mana cost sky-high and means you'l never want to cast it more than once in a row.

3) I couldn't see if you were using Focus Magic, or even if you have it in your build, but if not, you should. A fun and useful talent. It acts as a counterpart to Fire and Frost mages' altered Scorch and Winter's Chill effects to boost crit chance. I find it works most effectively on classes that deal direct-damage ranged spells, like Boomkins and other mages.

4) You already know this, but I guess part of the problem might be due to your gear, but even that wouldnt cause you to go OOM in 1 or 2 pulls, unless its reeeally bad (which it might be, I don't know having not seen your setup.)

The link to my current build is at the top, if you're interested. The awesome thing about the Arcane tree is that even after 70 I still won't be tempted to spec outside, because there's so many cool talents that I haven't been able to take (like Incanter's Absorbtion) because there's even cooler ones to take instead!

Hope this was helpful, keep up the good work!

Something I forgot:

You should take the Prismatic Cloak talent because it removes the fade time for invisibility completely; making you instantly lose all your threat and leave combat. This can be a lifesaver both in instances and while soloing. Unwisely decided to AoE a pull and got aggro? Ice Block on CD? Hit invis, cancel it, and boom - complete aggro wipe.

Have fun!

Although I'm sure you're up on the newer arcane mage tricks of the trade, you may be limited by your gear. If your chars are basically templates and you are using pvp gear, there is no way you are going to get any decent level of mana regen. I'd take another choice, spirit really does matter, especially with the mage armor glyph. I shoot for over 300mp5 while casting at lvl 70 in a small party and upwards of 450 in raid. You can actually spam a bit of AB, it just doesnt accelerate and the damage is pretty good with the 200 or so haste I have on. Anyhoo, love the vids, the vid quality is pretty good and it captures why games like WoW or Halo Co-op are such a great thing to do with friends.

I'm having the same problem as 'Smallsacks'...the video isn't loading for me for some reason. It'll say it's loading then just go to the 'More' and 'Replay' options. For the love of all WoW holiness please help me!!!

Great to see the mess ups and discovery process.

1. Lyle, you need to remember that every time you show your back to the enemy, you can be creamed. Getting hit from behind loses parry, block, and dodge. It is almost a guaranteed hit.

2. I don't care who you are, if you do up close melee attacks you should NEVER be in front of the mob. If he parries your attack his next attack is 40% faster. Pally needs to be staring at ass the entire time. Hopefully the tank can sit still long enough for this to happen.
