Episode 10.4: Karazhan

After battling many ghostly mobs in Karazhan, Project Lore and pals take a moment to read a book or two and suddenly discover the next boss Terestian Illhoof. Will the Project Lore stop this demonic summoner or will Project Lore be put in chains? Watch this episode to find out.

The regular heroes managed to sucker five other members of the Totally Rad Guild into helping out with the raid. Here are the armories for everyone involved: DrDark, Lylelovett, Goggins, Dorkins, Xenophontos, Manifesto, Talonni, Bastosa, Wyche, and Wilx. There are still plenty of bosses who have loot for our team, so find out what happens over the next few episodes!

Remember that our subscribe page has links for Project Lore all over the web. You can use our Episodes RSS feed or Twitter to find out when new episodes are out, and don't forget to join our Facebook Group, Facebook Page, and MySpace.

Alexis will wrap things up tomorrow, so tune in! Also, follow our twitter at twitter.com/projectlore to keep up with what we are up to at BlizzCon this weekend!

I love the talk about Drumline and colorguard it's nice to know that there are other WoW players out there that do marching band.

Also can we get an explanation on those girls that keep popping up?

@Draevin

Unless you mean Wyche, the info you're looking for is http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23862" rel="nofollow">here.

@Draevin: There are numerous books scattered around on the floor in kara once you get into the Library area past Curator. Picking up and reading a book can give you a buff that lasts an hour. These can be:

1. Bonus elemental spell damage when you cast.
2. Extra damage absorbtion.
3. Chance on hit to transform you into a Worgen and cause extra damage.
4. Chance on casting heals to summon a Ghostly healer who will Prayer of Healing on your group.

Number 4 is why Mani ended up looking like a pimp by the end of the vid.

Pallies can bubble out of the chains, just right click the bubble buff to get rid of it so you get back aggro

Just a couple of additions to the boss strat:

Not only does sacrifice do pretty nasty damage it also heals Illhoof for a significant amount. Having rogues with wounding poison or a MS warrior makes the fight a lot easier.

Neither of the two strategies for dealing with Kil'rek mentioned in the comments above are actually optimal. Kil'rek should be tanked by a dps warrior/feral druid/ret pally (or just a tank in dps gear works fine) IN THE AOE so he dies periodically from the SoC damage. The additional damage Illhoof takes after Kil'rek dies (combined with appropriate use of cds) is a massive boost to dps. Focus-firing Kil'rek can work, but can also reduce dps on Illhoof if people are slow at switching. Tanking Kil'rek away from the raid will make the fight longer, without a doubt.

Don't fear the imps. It just spreads them out and makes it much harder for the aoe'ers to kill them effectively.

Shadow protection or shadow res aura are also very nice on this fight, makes the Demon Chains damage a lot easier to deal with if your dps is a little slow.

@Billtony

Concussive shot? On bosses? O_o There's nothing wrong with a steady/KC rotation. It's quite efficient.

Course, all that changes with the patch, but still.

i have a question.
If i live in Israel (middle east) can i play on the American wow servers?
i played on the American privet servers so maybe i can play on the original American server.

@ lylelovett

as a fellow tank i always use a fast weapon, but i checked you armory and i see you use a weapon with 2.60 speed, so can you tell me what is better for a tank: a fast weapon or a slower one, or do you mostly look at the DPS of the weapon?

P.S - you can answer me at my Email - elirozhinsky@gmail.com
and if you can, point this question out at the wrap up.

I love this fight on my warlock. Tab seed of corruption, Tab seed of corruption. It helps to be sl sl for this fight as you will take a lot of damage.

Good strategy on the boss!

Goggins I have a question for you.

While I was babysitting the other day, I stumbled across a show called iCarly, and I was wondering if you have a twin or if that is you on there? :)

October 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTony

@Tony

Babysitting you say? suuuuurre.

But seriously, ya it's him. Both iCarly and Project Lore are in his wiki page. One thing I didn't know tho, was that he had a small role in Donnie Darko. I loved that movie.

Ok guys want to start off by saying once again I LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Very big fan. Ok now that the lovy dovey is out of the way....I am curious as to what addons or mods you use. I noticed that Dr.Dark has a curvy half moon shaped health bar thingy pop up in the center of his screen whenever he is in combat. What is that and why do you use it? Also i would like to know how to move the action buttons just below your charactors? I hope these questions make sense. Keep up the awesome job!...oh yeah speaking of jobs, do any of you have full time jobs outside of Project Lore?

October 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMyntar

@Promitheus

I'm not a war but some of their special abilities's cast time is "Next melee" rather than "Instant", so you should take that into consideration for a weapon speed. But then again I don't think tanking wars use those skills much in their threat rotation anyways, which I'm guessing would involve thunderclap, revenge, sunder armor and the likes which are all instant, so weapon speed probably doesn't matter much for tanking

October 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDiscostud

wrong, it matters alot. The optimal tanking weapon speed is 1.60 seconds

October 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmidaman

You had an overgeared Pally Tank and 2 Locks with you for Illhoof and the Warrior tanked?

Come on Lyle, put on some DPS gear and go to town!

IMO, best strat would have been Bastosa tanking everything in the room. No one touches Kil'rek as the AOE will take him down at nice, steady intervals. Warlocks MUST stand behind Bastosa IN HIS CONSECRATE. This keeps most of the imps off them and in case they do get any he can easily taunt (remember, Righteous Defense works on up to 3 targets!).

Lyle will add much-needed DPS on the chains as well. he can also gather up any stray imps that may be annoying a healer and bring them back to the consecrate.

You know, it would have been pretty easy for Lyle to simply Respec Fury or Arms for the run. he could still drop on tank gear for the few times he was needed. Very few spots require 2 Tanks and geared Prot Pally can solo most of them. Sorry warriors, Kara is a Pally playground - AOE and Undead! Your time to shine comes later on in 25s.

And for reference, I have a Fury Warrior and a Prot Pally - both in T6 content - so I have seen both sides of that coin.
