Project Lore WotLK Beta 3.1: The Oculus

Project Lore finished up it's WotLK Beta content by venturing to The Oculus... if they can find it. They travel from Dalaran and met a few interesting adventures along theway finally arriving at the instance. Watch and find out.

For these episodes, the team used premade level 80 characters, they are Dumpins, Shnooberella, Lylelovett, Uglynaut, and Undone. Remember that this was shot in the beta, so things have already changed since they were shot.

Hej DrDark!

I have a better eplenation what focus is. Focus is actually a kind of memory slot of one of the things you like to target. It's mostly used in situations where you are indeed targetting a mob/boss and need to target someone in your raid quickly. Focus, or the use of it, originated from the time that there were no raid icons, it was in the beginning of the game were you had to have a Main Assist. The MA actually decided what target to be taken down first. Now in the group all damage dealers had mostly a macro to target the target of the MA (so they could start nuke the heck out of the primary target). Now to make that easy they made a macro something along:

/focus [modifier:shift] target
/target [modifier:alt] focus
/target [nomodifier:shift/alt] targettarget

(if shift clicked the button, the player would put the focus, on the MA in the is example, if you press the button than again you would target the target of the MA, if alt-clicked you would target the Focus)

So mostly you use indeed macros to work with focus.

Good examples would be:

* Hunters that have the MT on focus so that they can MD anytime without the hassle of retargeting. They can just make a macro to MD on their MD
Example code of what I use as a hunter :

#showtooltip misdirection
/focus [modifier:shift, exists] target
/stopmacro [modifier:shift]
/cast [target=focus, help] misdirection; [help] misdirection; [target=pet, exists] misdirection
/ra Misdirecting %t to %f

(again shit is the modifier to set the focus, it auto casts md on the focus (the tank in this case) if no focus is set, it casts MD on my pet)

* Now one for you DrDark. You can make a macro that if you sheep at the beginning of a pull that you as well make that target your focus. Now you can start to fight without any problem and in the middle of the fight press your same macro button and without you having to find where your sheep went... You can just resheep it:

#showtooltip [target=focus,harm] [] Polymorph
/stopcasting
/clearfocus [modifier:shift][target=focus,dead][target=focus,noexists]
/focus [target=focus,noexists]
/cast [target=focus] Polymorph

A normall click sheeps your target and makes it it focus, than you can just fight. A normall click again makes your focus being sheeped again. Need to sheep another target? Use shift + click on that macro and voila your focus is on another mob and that mob is instant-sheep. (It also drops the focus if the mob should be dead or no longer exists)

(all code snippets from wowwiki)

PS;
All codes have the modifier shift for mostly setting the target I like to have my middle mousebutton for that, just replace [modifier:shift] with: [button:3]

Goggins is my least favourite guy on the show. Keep Jeff!

Also I want to see Brandon.

On the topic of Focus, even though this episode was made in Wrath Beta.

Pre-LK focus gave you, as mentioned, a "second target". You had to have an addon to actually get your focused target frame up Pre-LK. But with 3.0 Blzzard gave us their own Focus frame which appears when you set a focus (which is now accessible via the right-click menu on the target).

Focus helps in various ways to various people. For example, DrDark could Focus on a caster mob, DPS some other random schmuck, and Kick/Blind the caster if he sees a cast bar going (with a similar type of macro explained by BigWang). Likewise Mages, Shamans, Death Knights, Warriors and even Paladins can do the same with their version of spell interrupts.

Another way it helps mages is to keep an eye on your Sheep/Turtle/Penguin/Piggy and being able to recast Polymorph on said target without having to switch targets.

For LyleLovette, it can be a convenience with refreshing Vigilance. Set focus on your healer, zap the macro (/cast [target=focus] Vigilance) and carry on tanking.

Dude like always great episode, and like Jeff said sure there wasn't any combat but there is other content then just combat but the best is to see the fun and laughing. This game shouldn't be takin too seriously and should be about fun that's why I play and have been for 2 years and that's why my highest is a 53 but of course if I stopped makin new char's and just lvl'd one im sure i'd have well been 70 by now. I have a char on Executus but he's too low and i'm not on him enough to do anything. Maybe i'll get a druid and bring him over since that one class i haven't seen u guys play and it's my favorite. You guys also should make some hordies or start a Horde RAD guild tha'd be awesome too. It was actually kinda sad seeing ppl 2 two after launch gettin realm first 80's but anyways have fun guys and keep up the good work. Oh and yes I do like Jeff Cannata over Jerry Trainor AND I'd watch more Totally RAD Show if it wasnt for the seriously lame Dan Trachtenberg.

Pretty much my favorite episode ever.

Yup, favorite episode. Hilarious! I wish Jerry all the best in hollywood. There's far more Levity in the group now.
As per the ppl that said they have problems watching it, I couldn't get the last few minutes. It'd just reset to the beginning even though the bar showed fully cached. I think there might be issues with the new flash versions floating around. After a rebuild i had to grab flash 10 and i've had nothing but odd viewing issues since. Not just with this site. Each Flash update gets better though. Keep up the good work Guys!
