How Goes The Battle?

Me riding my bear... riding a dragon! So we have all had Wrath in our hands for a little over a week now. That was enough time for a few dedicated people to “beat the game” but I suspect many of us are a little behind the curve in that regard. I, myself, am on the verge of hitting level 80… and will likely have done so by the end of the day today. So I feel like I have seen a fair bit of the new content.

Originally I had intended to grind instances all the way to 80, but quickly learned that was not the way to go. The XP per hour is simply much larger if you are questing. So ultimately I ended up questing for the majority of the leveling process.

And, man, I am glad I did!

I have found questing in wrath to be absolutely awesome! The new phasing mechanics really add a while new element to the game. While I have always enjoyed questing, there was never much tangible result other than a quest reward and unlocking the next link in the chain. Now you get to see the world change as the result of your actions. You get to witness time move on and realize things will never be the same as they were. It is great.

I am not going to give out any spoilers here, but the epic quests that take advantage of it in Dragonblight, Icecrown, and even the DK starting area had me cheering at my computer monitor.

Beyond the phasing mechanic, it seems to me the quests are all together better. You don’t see nearly the amount of kill X mobs for Y drops. They are more creative, more exciting, and all together larger feeling. The new vehicle mechanics play a big part in this, making lots of things possible that you were not able to do before. From time to time you get to step out of your character and control something of absolutely epic proportions.

For me, so far, Wrath has been all I wanted and more. Now with hopes of seeing some end game next week I am anxious to see what the rest of the game has in store! What do you guys think so far?

I'm only part-way through 72 myself. When LK came out I was in the middle of midterms in college. I haven't played a whole lot, mostly because I promised myself I would put my RL social life first which so far is working out. Still, finished all of Howling Fjord and started a couple quests in Dragonblight. Might do Borean first then finish Dragonblight, but this epic questline people are talking about might make me change that statement. This has been so amazing and I'm already loving it more than BC.

Just hit 80 tonight (Woohoo)! And my guild is returning to raiding and going to do our 1st Naxxramas run on saturday. Im trying to secure a place as one of the few lvl 80s - would really like to experience naxx first-hand despite all the wipes i think it may entail.
Really loved everything about WotLK. The phasing, the lore, the areas - everything! Now its time to get some rep, upgrade my gear and settle into the glorious long haul of end-game =P

druid us 71 and DK is 62. content = amazing.

there are a few things that are helping me stay away.

1) bands of roaving DKs. I mean hundreds of them swarming over Outlands. A good DK will want to kill 5+ mobs at a time to max exp and the spawn rate cannot keep up. It is a really fun class and I am not complaining I know others are enjoying the new mechanics as much or more than I am, just seems like Blizzard could have phased or sharded the content a little better.

2) Many people leveling in Northrend seem to be play with a severe case of mental rabies. If you finish a quest before someone else it means (somehow) you beat them, if they can get to the spawn and tag it before you, they have somehow pwned you. I remember some of the earlier times on the PvE server I am playing on, where people wanted to group, or if you were going for a rare or elite boss, you would group so you could all get the credit without having to wait for the spawns. The people "leveling" through Northrend (on my server), for the most part (with a few exceptions) are just plain douche bags. They are interested in not only getting to 80 as fast as possible, but also, hampering as many others as they can along the way.

I'm about to hit 77, but I need to kick the leveling gears in on my days off. My guilds first attempt at end game is next Thursday and and I WILL be ready. I am not going to get left behind in end game raiding because I got lazy leveling and got distracted with an alt. :P

Well, I hit 80 about a week ago and really enjoyed my time leveling up even if it was a rushed. The new content is very well done, from the new environment models to the way they handled quests Blizz did a great job.

My guild is now clearing Naxx and did all the wings last night in one night with only Saph and Kel left to down and then on to Malygos. Having not stepped foot in Naxx in original WoW it is very nice to be able to see it and experience the fights that Blizz put so much thought and time into.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us come the next few patches.
