Rogue Spending Spree

Meta Slot...I have shared a few different ways for players to make money in World of Warcraft over the months.  From getting top dollar for your TBC loot, maximizing your quest reward income, to abusing the transmutation of cloth to bandages.  By following my own suggestions, I managed to stockpile a few thousand gold with a relatively small amount of playtime invested.  Aside from the need to purchase Cold Weather Training and a new epic flying mount, I knew the gold would come in handy one of these day.  I went Katia Verber on my bank yesterday.

With Solidsamm in desperate need of upgrades for several slots, I bit the bullet and began spending where applicable.  My first purchase was to replace my aging pair of daggers, Merciless Gladiator's Shiv and Fang of the Desolate Soul.  The Shiv served me well through TBC, but it was in definite need of an upgrade.  The Fang's speed is simply not suited for a Mutilate-specced Rogue.

Out with the old and in with the new, a pair of Librarian's Paper Cutters.  Not only does their model remind me of Death's Sting, but they just so happen to be the best Mutilate daggers available outside of Naxxramas.  With no weapon upgrades coming in the immediate future, the 650 gold dropped on them (bidding not buyout) should be well spent.  Following that same logic, I knew I had to get some enchants applied ASAP.  The offhand cutter picked up a Greater Potency due to the fact that I already had the materials.  The mainhand will get a little more love - and burn additional funds - thanks to an upcoming application of Mongoose that will further increase the pair's sick attack speed.  A lot of TBC enchanting mats remain quite expensive, causing me to farm the required 40xArcane Dust unless I see the price drop.

The purchase and enhancement of the new weapons ran me about 700-750 gold in the end, not all that expensive in Wrath's terms.  What really did me in was going for a new head item.  Currently I am sporting the lower version of TBC's engineering goggles, the Deathblow X11 and they simply won't do for...doesn't matter, I should have gotten rid of them awhile ago.  While on my high from my shiny new daggers I decided to go for broke and level my engineering from 372 to 440 for the new headdress.  Now I can no longer swim in my reserves.

Being the forward thinker that I am, I saw this coming and stopped selling my stacks of Cobalt and Saronite as soon as the Wrath market crashed.  The stockpile that I had accumulated on my bank alt managed to push me through 415, at which point I hit a wall.  I simply did not have enough Saronite in reserve to finish out the last 25 skill points.  After picking up a handful of stacks - and dropping another few hundred gold - 437 was mine.  Three freaking points away.

A few relogs later, I had everything I needed and then some.  My spree scored me 440 Engineering, some new on use effects for my gloves (breaks stealth), boots (doesn't break stealth) and cloak, a Gnomish Army Knife, Moll-E, Scrapbots, crap to sell and all the mats for Weakness Spectralizers.  It took me just over half of my gold reserves, but I replaced three slots I desperately needed to with some of the best non-raiding pieces available. Solidsamm is still a far cry from the needed 214 expertise rating, but he is slowly getting there.  Thanks to all the new gear, the 315 poison hit cap isn't far off.  Hopefully these changes help out my pitiful DPS from the other night.  Now to get rid of this god awful belt...

As I type this my Weakness Spectralizers are currently being hammered out.  Crap, now I need some gems.../me heads off to the Auction House, good thing I still have over 2,000 gold left!  Yesterday wasn't the biggest drain on my account ever, but it certainly was the most time consuming series of purchases.  What's the most you've ever spent in one day?

Wow, you're loaded iTZKooPA...most I've ever spent in a day is around 350g...and still got most of it back through some tasty AH gold flow.

I have spent well over 400 g's to build up Enchanting to almost 400 for one of my higher level toons. It really is a lot easier to start a prof from scratch when you start a toon from scratch. Considering dropping JC on my main to take up something else. Possibly engineering...

I spent about 2k on the Trollwoven Set for my feral druid when I hit 80. Definately worth it though!

When I log back in later today I will be dropping 12.5k gold on the gnomish mats for my Motorcycle!!!!!
Finally.

You do know the daggers you got were druid daggers correct....? And the most i spent in one day other than for flying was buying matts fro a tank gun, meta gems that my guild needs, some more gems, and some more matts. Rounding to about 1000g-2000g, a fair amount of cash.

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDeidare

I spent about 2.1k gold on new tanking gear, i regreat this so much

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGrant

@Deidare

You do know looks can be deceiving correct....? Those daggers are the 3rd best daggers for a Mutilate-specced Rogue. The top two are in Naxx and you can't get to them without these "druid daggers" or ones that are very close in value. Do your homework next time before asking questions like that.

750g in about an hour (including farming time) for enchants for a friend. I'm a dedicated friend, what can I say.

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFidgitt

Same as above, I spent the gold on the mats need for the motorcycle, but just the vendor things I was able to collect all the others.

Other then that I'v never spent all that much, never bought a weapon from the AH or mat to enchant. I eather collect what I need or pass till later

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJason

I dropped 1.1k gold to buy the trollwoven set. I also got a belt buckle, gems, and enchants in the same day. So, it was about 1.6k in one day and I only had 2k so now Im broke :(

Ok. I'm going to rant here. I've got to get it out in the open, sorry I'm (sorta) hijacking the thread... eat it and deal with it.

The Project Lore RSS feed sucks. Horribly. In the past, (when I tried to point a reader at the feed) I got random crap. Did I download the low quality feed? The high quality feed? The streaming feed? The audio only feed? It's a crapshoot.

What do I want from the RSS feed? Options. Point me at low quality vid, high quality vid, or audio. And.... Damnit, update your RSS feed every time a new episode comes out. This "it came out last week. ok, we just updated the rss" doesn't cut it.

Look. I know that you aren't making anything off of the stuff your doing right now. But... are you exclusively tracking the Flash feed and ignoring the RSS downloads?

Fix the RSS. Please.

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMarchell

That last bit was harsh. Sorry, it's a leftover from yet another rant I was on that I cut. I should have cut all of it.

Still... why can't I point my aggregator at the ProjectLore feed and get the same type of reliability I expect from my feed at TRS, or DiggNation, or whatever? Fix that before you do anything else, please.

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMarchell

@Deidare

You know, there's no such thing as a druid weapon anymore. With 3.0.8, all weapons will show Feral Attack Power based on the weapon's dps, regardless of whether it has desirable feral stats or purely caster stats.

Epic Flying, cold weather flying, and my DK's mount all in one night. T_T about 7k there.

January 29, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHatell

"What’s the most you’ve ever spent in one day?"
6200g for Artisan (Epic) flying skill, Cold-Weather flying and a Gryphon from SMV... I didn't have enough for the Swift flying mount skill when I went to Northrend and then I thought I would wait to 77 so I could get my Cold flying at the same time.
And so I leveled zone by zone doing enough quests for getting closer to Loremaster, and by the time I finished the last few quests in Zul'Drak, I saw that I had enough from quest rewards and since I was able to hold out till 76 with my Undead slaying set from the Invasion event pre-WotLK, I could vendor almost every quest reward I got for some extra gold. Atm I'm using the same strat for my DK hopefully I can do the same for her when I hit 77

But since I'm almost at exalted with Sons of Hodir and I have tailoring, I'm hoping to start making some nice amounts of Cash with the Glacial bags (between 1000-1200g in AH on Nordrassil EU, at least when I last checked)

January 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSlyfanitor

I used my cloth CDs every 4 days I could, earning me about 5kg in a few weeks, with a little help from selling eternal fires. My friend gave me 1400g so I didn't have to spend my carefully earned gold on my new robes, Moonshroud Robes.

I spent 900g of the 1400 on the robes, and the full 5k on my main's epic flying (which I strangely gave to my alt first), plus another 200g for the mount itself, leaving me with about 600g total, a far cry from the 6400g I had started with =(

Now if I could just get rid of my crappy shoulders...

January 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterNebyula

The most I have ever spent in one day was, 37800g. Probably closer to 40k this day since this was not include investments made on the auction house, repairs, or any normal expenditures.

Band of the Kirin Tor: 6800g
Traveler's Tundra Mammoth: 16000g
Mechano-Hog:12500g + 2500g

January 30, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWarcraftecon

The most gold I spent in one day was buying the flying and epic flying skills (plus the mount) for my hunter alt. That ran up to about 6.5k gold. After that, I was broke until the WotLK release. (After I did a lot of questing in WotLK, I spent gold on much-needed eq upgrades and am now broke again.)

Looking at the above posts, I can just only wonder at how people manage to get that amount of money. It bears a rather close resemblance to RL where you have the few elite, along with the middle- and lower-class majority. *sigh*

February 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAlayea

In one day for me so far the most is about 8k buying mount skills and some mats for enchanting. Tomorrow I will be raising this to about 16k as I get my tundra mamoth. No more running around with garbage in my bags as I will be running around with a vendor up my butt just waiting to whip it out and by my crap.

February 2, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterPauldy

19,000 on the mammoth.
and tomorrow 12,500 + mats for the mechano-hog.
