Crafted PvP Gear

It might not be good looking but it gets the job doneWhether you just thinking of dabbling in PvP or a hardcore arena player, its nice to have a good outline of all the different ways you can get PvP gear. This usually changes from season to season, but if you haven't gotten any PvP gear yet, then your best bets are crafted gear or the Savage Gladiator set.

The first introduction to PvP you get in the 70-80 level range are the crafted PvP sets. These are BoE and wearable at 78. They are cheap and have good all around stats, including some resilience for PvP. The Savage Gladiator's set is undoubtedly better, but for the price, this can't be beat. It also has more pieces than Savage Gladiator. I'd recommend picking it up before jumping into battlegrounds at 80.

Rogue/Feral Druid - "Eviscerator's" - crafted by Leatherworkers of skill 420 for some pieces and 425 for the rest. Learned from patterns sold by Braeg Soutbeard for 3 Heavy Borean Leathers each. If a Leatherworker doesn't know the recipe, offer them the required Heavy Borean leather to learn how to make it. Materials are included in the item links.

Total materials: 8 Eternal Air, 84 Heavy Borean Leather

Why would a DK ever use Ornate Saronite?

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBen

NO they do now i am a BS and i do believe they have spell dmg and intellect on those items and as we all know dk gets spell dmg from atk power i think so stick to the savage stuff

Having great respect for the PL crew, I am very disappointed in this blogger. I can't believe Heartbourne recommended ornate saronite gear for a DK, do your research before slapping a blog together man.
Intel+SP (for DK's) = FAIL NOOBERY

And to the rest of the PL crew, do you guys read what the bloggers post before allowing the post? If so, why didn't you catch that horrendous blunder?

You're getting pretty butthurt over something pretty minor, there Retrakk.

Take deep breaths. This, too, shall pass.

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterOrangeTang

That was obviously a mistake. I did not mean to put Death Knight twice on this list, as they should only use savage saronite.

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHeartbourne

hey hey cill that was a mistake d'oh appreciate what those ppl do!

nice post, good to let those out there know that cheaper pvp sets are available. (i know these sets helped me out when i was on my lvl 77-79 pvp spree). As much as i love raiding, i can't help but get sucked into the pvp and arena aspect of the game.

*and a side note: it was pretty obvious that there was a mistype/mistake with DK's, but nothing really to get anyone's panties in a bunch over imo.

This is the kind of posts I really enjoy. Straight to the point and very informative.. Good job Heartbourne

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLench

Don't forget that Ret Paladins fall under Savage as well since we dont need the mana or spellpoewr as much as we used to, we want as much strength as we can get. =)

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHonorshammer

Much as I like the capacity to craft pvp gear, I can't help but think that the blue crafted gear is just a distraction from real pvp gear. It seems low quality and not beefy enough.

March 20, 2009 | Unregistered Commentertyphoonandrew

Hence it is Level 78 gear. Primarily jist to get one by long enuf to get their Glad set.

March 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterTharon

BTW Heart, thx for the post/tip. XD

Also can't forget http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=62448 for the legs

Awesome post. I am just now considering getting started in pvp as I am about to ding 80 (I'm a new player) and I didn't know you could get someone to craft you some cheap starter gear. Look forward to the next post on the subject.

Awesome post, Heartbourne.

March 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterVag.

dang. i cant believe how rude you are rettrack. project lore is awesome. and everyone makes mistakes.

thanks for this post, it cleared up a few things for me.

March 21, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterreece

Good job heartbourne. But i would still like it very much if you guys did something similar just with PVE gear. That might get a little bit more complex but it would be nice to know that THIS is what im going for to prep me for lvl 80 instances, although just temporary.

again great job.

Been looking for a good written article about the crafted PvP gear. Now I have a place to send people for info about it.

March 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGene

Really good post :) very very useful :) thanks for the tips and for being so straightforward :D keep up the good posting job heart

March 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterEugen

@ Superdog, uh why wonuldn't they?

March 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSnaggly

I must say, 700G for all mats for the Swiftarrow Set is very well worth it. Especially since I don't do alot of PvP'n, even tho I'm on a PvP Realm. Chose the realm for the added difficulty in levellin.

March 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterTharon

Great guid, however you may want to add Ret Paladins to the Warrior/DK Savage Saronite set as they would not use the Ornate Saronite set (wouldn't want someone to make a stink about that like the DK thing O_O).

One other thing to add are rings and neck pieces that Jewelcrafters can make. These are little things, I know, but if you are looking to break into PvP and arenas eventually it's just that much more resilience in a world where 700 resilience is normal.

Might also be a good idea to add item enhancements that are more geared for PvP, like the armor kit that someone posted above.

Great job guys and I love all the content you guys are posting, keep up the awesome work!

Hey, nice guide! I have been looking for some info on what some of the beginning gear for BG is, I have been making the savage set for my DK as he levels his BS skills.

Nice to know I'm on the right track.

Thx again

Very nice post. As a tailor I know that people are often surprised that I can craft some decent starter PVP gear. It's always nice to have options, especially for the more casual players among us.
