Dirty Tricks To Pass The Time

Sap-mining Is Also Pretty Fun...For Me Sap-mining Is Also Pretty Fun...For Me

World of Warcraft does get boring sometimes.  There I said it, are you happy now?  Azeroth can't keep my attention all day, everyday, but that doesn't always means I simply logout and do something else.  No, heavens no.  That wouldn't fly while I was in the middle of a raid, although people do it.  It wouldn't fly before I got my dailies done either.  In these rare instances I find other ways to distract myself while remaining in Azeroth, or, at the very least, still being connected to the make-believe continents in some capacity.  Say YouTube videos or WoWHead "research."

Over the years I have come up with a few fun things to do with my rogue.  Mainly, ways to abuse my generic abilities.  My favorite past time is causing people to pull mobs by distracting the mob towards them.  It's not that easy to accomplish, but worth it for the hilarity and "WTF" moment that the player is sure to experience.  An added bonus, you can do it to either faction.  Then there's the always classic jacking of a mining node via a Sap, /fart and a right-click.  This dirty tactic has only become better since mining became a single strike instead of repeated looting.  No longer will you catch a beating before you can take off on your mount.  Beware of PvP trinkets though!

This may be a little more than a dirty trick since it can easily cause a full wipe, complete with hefty repair bills.  But Wrath brought rogues an aptly named ability, Tricks of the Trade, and I'll be damned if I am not going to use it for laughs now and then.  Normally my rogue buddies and I trade these during encounters for the 15% damage buff, vanishing to keep aggro down of course.  On the off chance that I want to be a donkey I will put ToT on an unsuspecting player and listen to him go batty on Ventrilo.  "How the hell did my aggro spike like that?  I never pull!"  On the flip side, you can do it to hunters and priests to see how fast they can react with Feign Death and Fade.  And they say there is no twitch gaming in WoW.

Other classes have their own entertaining means of harassing players.  I am sure all of you have seen mages put out a metric ton of portals at once, causing you to accidentally click on the wrong one.   Or waste precious minutes avoiding the the dozen Theramore portals in an attempt to find the single Dalaran mirage.  My personal favorite mage tactic is to play the warlock and ask for help with a summon.  The players who are barely paying attention, which is many at this juncture of a raid, will click on the portal and be sent to the far reaches of Azeroth rather than summoning their buddy.  "I wanted to goto Shattrath anyways."

A single beer from Brewfest brought the best practical joke I have ever seen in Azeroth.  The prankster in the video pops a frosty beverage during a Sapphiron encounter.  Simple, drunk fun right?  Well, thanks to the brew's Ice Block-type debuff, the raid thought it was safe to remain behind him for the beast's Ice Bolt.  A full wipe was the effect, another cause of too much beer.

This is only a small taste of the dastardly deeds we can do to each other inside World of Warcraft.  What are your favorite tricks and jokes to play on other players?  Perhaps someone can top the Sapphiron wipe and earn +2 nerd points.

Yeah, I remember when I was 12 years old. We didn't have 'online games' back then, so we had to put dog poop in paper bags and start them on fire before ringing the door bell and running.

For some reason, I thought that was real funny back then.

This is why I don't want 12 year olds in my guild.

Oh.. my.. this is me.

I hate raiding and pve content, I am full arena gladiator player.. so raiding get's extremely boring, but sometimes you have to do it for the best gear (envoy of mortality for example).

Friend and I would fuck with people who were annoying in the raid (That no one really enjoyed in particular), I would throw a misdirect on this player, and my friend would tricks of the trade him... and we'd pull the raid boss leading to an instant death to this poor kid haha.

I also enjoyed (during the days of prebc) being able to sap players and not get flagged in your own lands.. that was awesome. (I am on a pvp server, but in non contested territories you're usually unflagged).

I've also pull saph with those toy cars from christmas.. but the funny thing with that was, it would agro the closest person to the boss, making it seem like he pulled.. (we did this to the same person we usually misdirect and tot).

I also like to gank /spit and grief lowbies.. yes, I love people hating my guts on a pvp server, it only makes it that more enjoyable when they bring their 80 out.

@liene: I'm feeling nostalgic after that comment :D

Anyway, Whenever I'm to bored to play WoW I just start making fun off my guildies, sending random RaidWarnings, gquiting and stopwatching the time it takes for them to invite me back (they get used to it so it keeps getting faster), Org-bank-racing or just being a moron...

When I get bored, I tend to fly around in my flight form and look for Horde on their flying mounts. I've never been the best PvPer so i tend to find sneaky ways of messing with people. Anyway, being a Balance Druid, i try to get as close as i can to cast my Typhoon spell on them. This knocks them off their flying mount to fall to their deaths. True, i start falling as well, but i just pop my parachute cloak and wait till im out of combat. Then i re-flight form myself and look for more people to mess with. This tends to not work on Mages and Priests because of their Slow fall and Feather fall spells, but that doesn't really help my target if they are AFK. Happy Hunting :D

A mage in my guild ice blocked during a breath once. Half my guild ran behind him.
I enjoy misdirecting Fel Reavers to lowly 60s, although, that's really mean.

Jovar~

Bliz fixed, the hunter snake trap bug, apparently say for instance we are in in the neutral city with our 70s(80s now) and some lowbie horde/alliance (pending on opposing faction) near by. Start a duel with your faction, put down trap but do not engage, friend walks over trap, lvl ?? snakes devour lvl 40s.

hahahaha

Bug too fun to have been fixed :(

This really isn't a prank but was still hilarious.

I was in the process of capping the LM flag and i see a druid sneak up on me so i reach for my Icy Touch keybind but accidently hit Death Grip, and it turns out he was balance and trying to Typhoon me off so we both went flying..... At that time i was an engineer and i had the parachute =) was laughing for days after that one

I like planting the Ingi-Bunny (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40536) on the ground near to some low lvl alliance players.. once they hit it they get killed by the 2k hit from the explosion. it's the revenge for all the critters killed so far!

Baby spicing the arses in Dust in front of the bank in Dalaran. That's about it but man it never gets old to me.

Wow, can't believe no one has posted this one yet. You know how there are a couple instances that feature a long fall into water? I have been in a number of groups where a shaman will cast walk on water on unsuspecting players as they fall (or a dk will cast path of frost) so they die when they hit the bottom. It's kind of a test to see if you can right-click the buff before you hit and prevent your own death, heh heh!

I love talking ppl into letting me take them for a "ride" on my grand black war mammoth, so i walk around like im giving them a ride, then suddenly i take them off a cliff dismount and being a druid, flight form. Its allways funny to see their replies.

@ onthebuses

No... I mean like at the end of a heroic.... when the resident mage "helps" you out...

And I'm a priest anyways.

hmm well being a healer i can't really do much to increase my lol factor in raids, ppl tend to die that way. I have been the target of a few misdirect / tricks of the trade, not funny at all being a priest, I'm usually fast enough with the fade, but if one of those elites even hits me once i'm dead, and fade is on cooldown for a long time.

The only fun i had was mc-ing hordes off cliffs.

There was this one platform in stormpeaks where you needed to do for a quest, It had a tunnel you needed to enter and a couple of guards. I'd hide out wait till the horde engaged the guards and run them off the edge, Jumping after them and levitate just before dieng on the ground, awsome to see them go down and splat on the floor.

Mage prank: After using a teleport in Ulduar, don't move and make a table. Nobody can get those delicious strudells. Only the teleport options will pop up. You can peacefully have a snack while the others are waiting for the table cooldown :)
