Just days after the hooplah surrounding the addition of
Worgen and Goblin masks into the game as possible signs of new races in the theoretical expansion "
Cataclysm", more masks have been discovered by
MMO-Champion, seriously hindering the chances that any of these are going to be new races in the new expansion. The masks that have models in the game now includes all ten playable races, goblins, worgen, ogres, murlocs (!), naga, and vrykul. While two of these races could be playable in the next expansion, I doubt all of them will be.

When Blood Elves and Draeni were announced as playable races in The Burning Crusade, everyone was very excited. New races and the introductions of paladins into the Horde and shamans into the Alliance was a huge change. Wrath introducing
Death Knights was equally important; there had not been a new class added to the game since early beta. With the new expansion on the (distant) horizon, players are expecting a new playable race, and probably two (for each faction) at that. Blizzard has said that new playable races in the future will be familiar to us (contrary to the
retconed Draeni in Burning Crusade), so expect lots of speculation. Pandareans are as good as retconed out at this point, so don't expect the to jump from obscurity to playable so soon. That leaves a lot of possibilities, and these masks may be some sign.
As for the masks' actual role, I hope this is some sign of a revamped
Hallow's End event. Blizzard added achievements for world events so that players would have incentives to experience the content they spent time and money developing, but players who already got all the
achievements from last year would have little reason to participate in the festivities this year. With new masks, this may be a sign of new Hallow's End content and maybe even achievements! Or at least making
A Mask for All Occasions doable.
Would you re-roll one of these races? What if they started at, say, level 80 in their own starting areas in the new expansion?

lol i just realized i was talking about wolvar and not worgen xD I suppose worgen could work, but i dont see why they would join any faction, seeing as they don't have anything against any specific faction (cmon, we've all farmed assasin's blade xD)
I wouldn't play anything that started at 80, that's just stupid imo. But I don't see why'd we get 2 new races for each side. Personally, I'm betting on Worgen for the Alliance and eithr Goblin/Ogre for the Horde.
I could care less about their lore or what faction they are in... if worgen are put into the game i'm making one.
mmo-champion said that the worgens will probably be on the alliance, and for the horde, goblins. if that happens im gunna be pissed and im going alliance
However, these masks may only have been put there as a response, so the original masks may still be an indicator.
if blizzard gona us let us choose i use the naga and worgen and murloc
The oracles should be a new playable race imo.
I doubt any of them would start at level 80, it is my opinion that all new hero classes will start at level 55 so they can level through all the expansions content.
the playable race shall be vrykul, and i shall name it Technoviking
Worgen definitely. They are too cool to make me want to play anything else. As long as they have a healing class, I'll be playing one.
I'd so roll a murloc DK.
@moophobia
I think your talking about the Dwarves :P
I really hope for the Worgen atleast. Otheres not so sure about. Although i doubt any of the new races would be able to become a death knight. Im also curious about what they will do with mounts.
4 of those races I would try, 3 immediately actually if playable. Worgen, Naga and Goblin I would abandon all my characters for. Murloc would make a good alt probably warrior if their charge gets a their battle cry.
Vrykul are alright but too close to human for me although much better then our human model.
Never liked ogres in this game or any series of story, movie, game. All size and brute force that lacks coolness of other races who has brute force.
@zaraken
you no like ogres? me smash you!
I think all these masks could be a good hint for future races. After all it was said in that post that "Blizzard has said that new playable races in the future will be familiar to us (contrary to the retconed Draenei in Burning Crusade)" They did say something about "Seed-races" Before so. :x
Though I still like to think its the first original two they look the best and have the most detail. Female worgen is almost a dead give away too.
If it even is an x-pac on the way it's deffinatly Worgen and Goblins. Of course it could just be Blizzard trying to break the 4th wall with halloween masks (Werewolves, Goblins,Serpents,Ogres,Vrykul...Ok the last one not so much but you get the point)
Looking back from the Cataclysm announce, I reckon these new ones were knocked together to lead us off the Goblin/Worgen trail. The Murloc female is just a recolour, and the orge female is the only one that couldn't really just be a flattened version of the head models for those races, whereas the goblin and worgen masks look more like natural art.
a lizard race in general would be awesome maybe not murlocks but definitely some sort of lizard man type race
