Pandaren Monk Show Off His Skills

As you may have read, one of the new pets slated to be included with patch 3.2.2 is the Pandaren Monk. This miniature kung-fu fighter remains the only in-game implementation of the ursine race. Though they once held an ancient empire in the center of Kalimdor, the Pandaren race have since hidden themselves away in the uncharted regions of Azeroth.

Will they one day return en masse? My guess is only when their home is threatened by some massive, outside force. But despite their isolationist tendencies, some Pandaren evidently find their way to the main continents, not entirely unlike Twoflower on vacation. The only thing I know for sure is that I wish Blizzard would stop teasing us about it!

More data-mining goodness from over at MMO-Champion has revealed the Monk's intricate martial artistry, and it is only making the wait even harder:

I have to admit that I'm really loving the animations here, and I hope its a preview of things to come way down the road. Not including Pandaren at this point is like not including the Cow Level in Diablo II, it would just be cruel not to! Besides, next to stealthy-roguey-assassination types, my favorite kind of class to play is a hand-to-hand fighter, and that's something that World of Warcraft is sorely lacking at this point.

If you're wondering how you can get your mitts on this pint-sized pugilist, well, we still don't know just yet. There's no specific indication as to where the Monk might drop, and it doesn't appear to be one of the trading card game's new loot cards, either. We here at Project Lore will let you know when we hear something about it. Here's to hoping that it's not a region-specific gift!

Obviously, we're pretty excited about the Pandaren Monk, but what about the rest of you? Knowing how cool the animations are and how rare it will likely be, no doubt this will be one of the most sought-after pets in the game! Is it worth going out of your way to get one for yourself?

The most convincing guess I've heard so far as to how to get the Pandaren Monk pet?

Cataclysm: Collector's Edition

(No inside info, just a guess.)

its KONG FU PANDAREN! now the only questions is...where is the food(or booze) that makes him do it?

@dyvim

Interesting thought, but I'd still have to question why it was being added to the game this early, and not with the (eventual) 4.0...

OMG I'd do anything for this pet.

Oh and Pandarens are cool too.

Honestly what they should do is add more than 1 race in cataclysm. Pandaria exists high in stonetalon peak, but after the cataclysm it could become a giant volcanic explosion exiling the pandaren just as the goblins have been. They seek refuge under the Horde throw religious views and great respect for the art of battle and perfection.

The Alliance would get an exiled group of Vry'kul that seek to destroy deathwing for wrecking their homes and ravaging their lands. This could tie in with the nautical theme that is set within cataclysm. Vry'kul would make sense since they are the primal versions of humans. This would bring a barbaric horde like race to the alliance. Much like the forsaken who will stop at nothing to achieve their goal.

And I agree we need a combat fighter that can use a little bit of chee and some powerful martial wisdom. The only problem is it may get too "Shamany" if this class was made.

KUNG FU PANDA!!!!!!
p.s.it would be even cooler if we could play with pandarian (in a future xpac/patch)

There is only one reason that Panderan are not in the game. They were going to be added but it tested poorly in China. There was already a ton of work done to put them in the game but China was not happy about it.

Brewfest pet?
*crosses fingers*

September 16, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKeahi

Since theyve already said that this an account bound pet, wouldnt it stand to reason that it may be the pet included in collectors ed. Catacylsm?

September 16, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAllenok

While it definitely could be the collector's edition pet, MMO-Champion has stated, as has WoWWiki.com, that this pet was added in the 3.2.2 patch that went live today; so, either both sites are wrong, or it's source has not yet been discovered/divulged.

BTW, anyone have any news on it (now that the patch is live)?
