More Content Coming Before Cataclysm Patch (v4.0)
The still unnamed ProjectLore Audio Podcast - we do nothing fast around these parts - has had but one recurring theme throughout its short life, speculating. We've speculated on everything from the direction of the horde, the upcoming Auction House app and even C'Thun's connection to being alive (spoiler: he isn't). During all of that speculation, the crew has kept returning to one specific topic, whether or not there's enough content to last until Cataclysm.
The original discussion was tabled after we realized that we still had no idea when Cataclysm would be out. That changed during Activision-Blizzard's conference call last week, where it was revealed that Cataclysm will be out in the second half of 2010. With guilds dropping the hardmodes left and right - 10 of 12 are done - we came to a consensus that no, Patch 3.3 would not last most players until Cataclysm was released.
Blizzard, with all the inside information the company has, knew this awhile ago and has already begun working on another patch. After touting the long list of Patch 3.3.x's contributions, Zarhym hit us with the juicy stuff:
"We do have some additional PvE and PvP content and changes we plan to implement prior to the release of the big Cataclysm patch and subsequent retail release of that third expansion. We'll be discussing these new features in more detail in the coming weeks."
"Coming weeks" seems to be Blizzard's new "soon."
Everybody's favorite chattering skull returned quickly to the thread to point out that Icecrown Citadel is indeed the "final raid" in the expansion. This likely means that we won't see a ninja raid like Sunwell Plateau, but something more along the lines of a Zul'Aman. No matter the size of the raid, it'll likely offer side-grades, rather than full upgrades to our armor and weapons.
I've burned through most of the content that Zarhym highlighted, but I'll give him ICC raiding. I don't know about you guys, but I still have plenty of citadel raiding content to get through. Neither of my guilds have downed any wing boss besides Saurfang. Tonight will be a new challenge, as the two 10-man guilds band together in an attempt to take on a 25-man raid.

cool whats the new pvp thing? and, first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jousting.
PvP thing'll probably be a new vault boss.
Safe money's on a giant shadow troll titan, and the PvE thing being Gundrak Palace. Why would I think that? We haven't killed the king of the trolls yet, and god knows we can't let a SINGLE TROLL LIVE.
does that include the shadowspear tribe and the zan-something?
New vault boss named dinglevon.
His element is love.
And when they all combine they create....
TITAN PLANET!
@Decado-
::sputter cough:: LOL that seriously made my day...
would he be garbed in skintight leggings and bootyshorts?
oh god.... bootyshorts...X_X
No no no, He's gotta be in a bright yellow banana hamock and dressed up rather like a Chip-n'-dale dance. XD
im guessing due to the info it will probably release around June.
A Zul'Aman-style raid would be fantastic. Even if the gear is side-grades, just give me a raid with a different mechanic (timer or otherwise) and some measure of vanity reward for completing it correctly.
Honestly I doubt there will be any new raids and if there is, it will be a small 1 or 2 boss raid. Even ZG or ZA would be going too large on a minor content patch scale.
I doubt there will be a new boss in VoA. What would he drop? Toravon already drops the highest level of pvp gear to date. For a new boss to come into play, they would have to bring in a new season. With season 8 just starting I doubt that will happen any time soon.. Unless they make the boss drop the same stuff as Toravon. But that would be redundant.
I think you are thinking too much into the scope of raids. Think smaller. PvE content could be something as little as a new quest hub or a new dungeon and PvP content could just be some changes to the current BG's.
