WoW Life Lesson #30: You Can Always Make A Change

WoW Life Lesson #30 - I\'d Like a ChangeNo matter what your level or experience or race or class or faction, you can always make a change. Always.

What sort of change? Well that's up to you. What do you want to change?

You want to be a tailor? Do it. You want to level up fishing? Go fish. Want to switch servers? Do that, like I just did.

WHAT!?!

Yep that's right. I switched servers from a PvP to a PvE, from Frostmane to Moonrunner. Why you ask? Plain and simple: most of my friends switched there so there I went. There's also the added benefit of not getting ganked while grinding it out from 70 to 80 in the next few months.

It was a easy choice, really. I'm more interested in the content and storyline rather than mindlessly killing someone else's toon 'cuz they just happen to be there. Don't get me wrong, I've had moments where I've ganked a few people who were camping a lowbee, but it's not my favorite thing in the game. For me, it's crushing Magtheridon or finally putting Illidan in his place.

The point is this: you can always make another choice, whether in WoW or RL. If you think things would be better, funner or so much easier doing something different in your WoW or RL, then make the decision and do it.

It's your choice. It's always up to you.

Fair enough man i was once a strict PvE player doing any raid i could and i still love the lore but something about ganking in SW with my rogue is just too fun lol

yep. just like in real life. if you want it or need it then do it. just do it. don't think about it needlessly otherwise you will punk out. its one of the great flaws of humanity, our great ability to see things that will happen from a happening is also what holds us back from being what we could be.

I did the same. I hated PVP personally so I switched. When you're grinding a Resto Druid its really easy to get ganked, so yea, no choice there.

I recently made the choice to stop playing buggy practice WoW on private servers and actually pay to play on retail :)

Knights of Radshire! :D

Meh, I can't stand getting ganked,or ganking for that matter. If you wanna PVP, deul or go into the arena.

I was thinking about moving from PVP to PVE for wrath as well. Now that I know I can move back if I don't like it.

I'm over getting ganked doing dailies.

Enjoy

Ya, it seems alot of people are switching servers since PvE to PvP opened. Sadly though more people seem to be switching on my server to PvP making raids hard to form and diplinishing the amout of people in raiding guilds. Aswell alot of people have started guild hopping to get more gear before Wrath, making guilds that are trying to progress not able to. Luckily even with this, my guild has been holding up, but alot of people are getting weary of it falling apart.

i half agree with you in games you can always switch weather specs or a realm to pay some money and done but but RL is not a game their are consequances that you cant just avoid hey i love to draw but i suck at it does that i be an artist not to discourge the young people out their but i know from first hand life does not work that way as a kid i wanted to be a pharmasist i grew out of it if you realy love doing somthing and your good at like a sport or something try it if you are if your ready to risk it all again i am not trying to discourage anyone because sometimes the change works out but you have to realize that with these changes come resposibilitys take it from me i know and the ganks are one the best things about the games infact thatone the things i do not like about being on pve i cant kill any horde passing by me that drives me nuts defeating is not anough i wanto kill i wish some of the aliance not just in arenas because boy some players get under your skin maybe thats somthing for blizz to thnk about while they are developing next acouple of patches

I've played just about every MMO that was around before WoW and I always rolled on PvE servers. I figured if I wanted some PvP action I'd pull out an FPS or something and have at it. The only reason I rolled a toon on a PvP server in WoW was because of the Totally Rad Show and in turn the Totally Rad Guild. It was already established on a PvP server so that was that. I *hated* leveling to 70. Getting ganked by characters 20 levels higher than you and not being able to do a damn thing about it was annoying as hell. Funny thing though, having hated it the entire time getting to 70 and having never done it on any games before this point I have completely changed my mind. For me it adds a whole depth of experience having to watch my surrounding when running dailies or whatever. When raiding you still don't have to worry about it because everything is instanced (save a few world bosses but who cares about those). So in that aspect PvE is pretty much the same as PvP. It is just when you are running around doing quests you have to keep an eye out which adds a lot of intensity. I get bored pretty fast running the same quests with different names (go collect 50 bones, now go collect 100 dildos, etc). At least on a PvP server even though the quest itself is still just as boring you can't just run through the motions as you would on a PvE server because someone might jump out of the bushes and try to take your lunch money. To each his own of course but to me a long time PvE person I think a PvP server brings more to the game and that's never a bad thing.

I transfered from a pvp server (Thunderlord) to a pve server (Ghostlands) a month or two ago. For one, the horde where insanely outnumbered on TL, and two the raid progression was horrible. Ghostlands progression isn't much better but hey, there are no groups of 5 alliance ganking every horde on the Isle of Quel'Danas. Now there is a difference on pvp servers between ganking, and world PvP. Personally I love world PvP, keeping you on your toes and always ready for a fight, However, getting ganked by 3 players or a higher level player is no fun. I'll take a fair fight out in the world any day, thats the most fun I ever have pvp'ing.

Awww.... well it was nice to meet you while you were still on frostmane. I took pride in the fact that I met a Projectlore guy on my server - oh well.... Take care and have fun!

i agree with you there sir. mainly in terms of RL, although ingame it is a no brainer. i wanted to be a police officer and was going to college for it and i just couldnt see myself liking it, andthats a hard realization after telling yourself thats what you want to do for 4 years. now i am doing tile laying as an apprentice and loving it, long days and tough labour but very rewarding.

I was so glad to move from Frostwolf to Thorium Brotherhood because the Alliance players there were more focused on ganking than just about anything else. (Seriously, I'm not making this up.) I just can't understand why some people play just to make others' experience miserable -- and don't give me crap about "well go pve, not pvp". There's a line between taking on someone who's close to your level, and doing it just to make life difficult for the other player (who is a low-level).

Saint I could not agree with you more.

Change can be a good thing, in what ever form it may be.
When I first rolled my little Gnome mage OldaMage (who is also my main), I was hooked on the power of frost and the moderate protection it gave me, but as I got higher in lvl the damage was starting to lack a bit, and then a guildie of mine said, well why don't you change?
At first I thought he was nuts, give up my frost spec, you're kidding right?
But he told me to try out the spec his mage was rolling and see how that worked.
How did it work u ask???
AWSOME! suddenly I was kicking azz like never before, I was killing left and right like never before, and LOVING it!!
And soon discovered too that my ranking in the damage meters in places like Naxxramas was increasing, I was really kicking it.

So my advice to all you people out there not sure what you wanna do/be, make a change, try it out, you can always change back (at a price of course)

FOR Gnomeregan!!!!
