Wowhead Loves Hunters Plus Comprehensive Achievement List

Wowhead continues to prove itself a great resource for players looking for the latest information on the Beta of Wrath of the Lich King, and today Wowhead gives us a pet talent calculator and a great list of achievements.

Looking through the pet talents, I find Heart of the Phoenix to be great for a certain hunter who always seems to complain about his pet dying. Other than that, there are a bunch of interesting things that hunters will be able to tweak about their pets, and though some of the talents are similar to old ones, the new stuff shows a lot of creativity on Blizzard's part.

When I first heard of the Achievement system being implemented, I figured I would just let the achievements come to me as I played. But now I can see some people might really go out of their way to get some. Look at this one. I know someone who might just be crazy enough to try it. I definitely see a lot of things that I expected in the list, and I hope its going to expand even more from the nearly 650 already there. I also really hope that when someone unlocks an achievement, there is some crazy sparkley stuff that happens, visible to everyone with an announcement to all in the vicinity, like the discovery system has but even bigger. After all, World of Warcraft is a social game, and what good is a social game if you can't show off when you get something cool?

I dont' see the big deal with this achievement system being implemented knowing that the game will still reward players for time spent versus playing skill. Is this just another gimmick to give more "casual" players some sense of gratification?
Actually, reverting to what I just said, achievement systems appealing to casuals wouldn't make sense either. Now I'm just confused....

In my opinion, in-game achievements outside the raiding and/or arena-pvp environments are just silly.

I am also so-so about this whole achievement thing. Xbox 360 users will know all about this. The only thing is, unlike just a username on xbox live, in WoW there are already achievements in and of themselves (ect. great armor, weapons, stats). Soon people will find ways to quickly do all of these. Agreed Jules, they are just silly

I like the idea, but some of them are kind meh.. First Hunter/Priest to lvl80?I would love that that one but won't get it..

I love the idea, many MMOs used it before and it's great idea. I think some achievements should be hidden (where they don't tell you how too get them)) So when you unlock it will be shock.

I like the achievements system, but I like the comment Ricky gave having a set of achievements that are easter eggs. I think that would be sweet!

it would be cool if u could use your achievement points to start a new character at a higher level instead of the usual eye-plucking grind??

it would help

Keith it's called a deathknight, and I think the achievement system is awesome, I always go out of way way on Xbox Live to get new achievements, I think this will definitely spice up gameplay a little bit, just as long as they keep adding more. And above, the two comments about hidden achievements and easter egg achievements, that would be awesome. I want to see a Cow Level come along :)
