Blizzard Really Wants Your Friends

Isn't that the story of my life? This time, though, they want my friends to play a game with me. From the official World of Warcraft site:
With the new Recruit-A-Friend program you can earn an exclusive Zhevra mount, receive a FREE month of game time, and gain access to other exciting in-game benefits. From the moment your friend creates a character and starts playing you’ll both earn triple the experience when grouped together and have the ability to summon one another from anywhere in the world. Also, for every two levels of experience your friend earns, they can grant one level of experience to one of your lower-level characters.

The Recruit-A-Friend program is really stepping it up. A free month of playtime was nice, but an in-game mount? Free levels? TRIPLE XP? Sounds like they are aiming for the 20 million subscriber mark. Of course, the triple XP and free levels only work up to level 60, according to the FAQ, but this sounds like a great way to bring a friend, roommate, or SO (significant other) into the game. These bonuses should get all of your friends to the Burning Crusade content quickly. Then you can help them burn through it and get them ready for WotLK. I'm sure Blizzard is counting on you to convince your friends to pick up BC as well as WotLK, whenever that comes out.

Well then,

They might as well hop on their knees and start begging. Right now beyond this, I am completely speechless.

I think Blizzard realized that new expansions don't do much to lure in new players, since they need such a significant amount of play time to even see the content.

This actually fits in with some of the other changes, like mounts at 30, and the elimination of most of the group quests early on. Anything to make it faster to power level through the start of the game.

I was going to get a friend of mine the WoW Battlechest for christmas but might get it for him sooner with one of those game cards to take advantage of this. I have no problem with a friend leveling his main and my Alt's getting benefits from it :)

that is so funny about blizz wanting even more people...
hey..here is a better idea...how about lowering the monthly sub...or make it more than just 60 days for a game card...or something along the line for us faithful who devote alot of our time to a game..that fills blizz's pockets full of riches....
rat bastards...

lol Robert

If the cost is too much why do they still have nearly 20 million subscribers?

Anyways, I think this is a very good idea on Blizzard's part, faster leveling to get to BC content so people can go ahead and hit 70 for WotLK

Now if only I could find someone to convince to play with me. My boyfriend refuses (says he already spends enough time on the computer), and I could use the triple XP. The mount would be cool too.

Hell, you could put an ad on craigslist and try and get someone there to be your refer-a-friend. who cares as long as you can level an Alt at lightning speed.

To john: Whenever a low level charater plays with a high level character the low level character gets low exp. Try starting a new character with her.
