3.0.8 is Live, So Now What?

Patch 3.0.8 is now up on live servers, and the patch notes are long, especially for a "minor content patch." There are a multitude of changes that different people are bound to focus on including the Circle of Healing and Wild Growth nerf, the "Great Hunter Nerf of 2009," Slow Fall and Levitate castable on others, Paladin's new single target taunt and ranged pull spell, Rogue AoE, and more.

Besides the changes to many class abilities, there have been some interesting game mechanic changes. One of the very first things I did once I got the patch installed and stopped staring at the pretty new launcher window was sell my items that summoned bosses to instances. This included my Blackened Urn, Mallet of Zul'Farak, and Scepter of Celebras. These three items netted me about 10g, but also freed up some much needed bank space.

Other than that, one of the first things on my personal agenda is to grind up some reputation with factions that I've neglected due to their low rep gains. This includes most of the old world reps like Argent Dawn and Cenarion Circle, both of which will net me a new title once I hit exalted with them.

Earlier today, Bastosa immediately hit me and a few other guildies up for an Azjol Nerub run to get the Gotta Go! Achievement and his Glory of the Hero red proto drake. So, it seems that different people see different things in the patch. What is the first thing on your agenda post 3.0.8?

Cool my Mallet of Zul’Farak I can finally vendor. I mine so the one hit wonder for mining rocks now, because before people could ninja it from you even if u already mining it, it was especially fun cross factions. Oh and Electric Chicken TIME!

I just wish they would get my server running back to normal. It seems like ever since I downloaded the new patch the servers been acting crazy (serious lag prob, constant D/Cn, and a neverending Wintergrasp). This whole day I havent been able to enjoy wow, I wonder if you anyboyd else is having this problem and it just wasnt me, everyody I talked was experiencing the same problems. Im on ALLERIA by the way.

Well I am a shaman on blackwater raiders, So I started playing and notice that my action bars were missing some buttons, and they were all spec specific spells. So I was asking my buddies on vent if they reset the talents, and a bunch of people were saying no, then my buddy shadow told me that only Shamans did. At that point I just thought to myself, why is it always shamans, why are we always the hardest hit? Well whatev, it gave me a chance to spend my talent points in enhancement more wiseley.

First thing I did was get a robo-chicken. Then I went on as I usually did.

I'm mostly pissed about the patch. Wintergrasp caused plenty of problems this afternoon with the patch. Plus, with people spamming random servers with DKs, expect larger Qs again.

On the flip side, I'm really enjoying the change to mining so you get all in one try. I also really enjoy the new achievement UI change, alot cleaner.

I'm most pissed though to the DPS ownage tree for Hunters, it used to be BM, but when I did a few heroics after the patch, my DPS was significantly lower. I looked at the different talents, and it looked like Marksmanship got a major buff with all the talents for AP increase. I quickly spent 35g for a respec to change to the higher DPS talent tree.

Love the new appearances on some of my spells. Fireball looks way cooler, and Blizzard is pretty sweet also.

Although I personally don't have it, I wouldn't sell the blackened urn. With an old guild friend who doesn't have the newest xpac yet 5 of us ran him through kara to get some badges and loot, and luckily we had the urn to summon nightbane. The others seem easy enough to get rid of, but for a raid summoning item I always see people who like to run through the older raids.

But on topic, the first thing I did was check out the changes on my death knight and enjoy how blood was upped a bit.

I'm excited about, and you might laugh, the levitate buff on others. XD I can finally "Ice Skate" with my friends and not need a shaman for it!!!

I spent most of my time on WoW staring at the login screen. It was't until this evening that Blizzard disabled the fighting for WG, which solved most of the issues.

first thing i did when i logged on was go straight to turn in my relics of uldaur, i had 219 saved up so that got me out of honored and a bit into revered.

i had forgotten all about my nerfs (hunter), i guess i should check it out and see if i need to change my specs.

Go ahead and make all the deathknights you want on all servers.

i live in the uk and i was wondering if the paladin bubble nerf had come into play some people saying that paladins no longer have 100% bubble. can someone please confirm this or not.

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered Commentershizzman

I was on the receiving end of the hunter nerf, but, i was still able to pull out 1800 to 2300 dps in a guild run of Heroic Hall of Lightning, so I think I'll manage without the extra 500 dps i used to get.

We actually got all the achievements in that run too, without really meaning to since we pulled the first boss while he was electrified on accident due to lag.

First thing I did was forget to train my new ability. Another pally in the guild reminded me of it. It's pretty cool and will help with soloing. Hit a few veins to try out the mining change. That's about it.

I like how the cast time to loot things like raid chests. mushrooms in the sewers, and other randoms has been drastically reduced. No more ninjas or waiting 15 minutes to grab your emblem.

Mechanostrider for my Human lock... xD

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSlyfanitor

@shizzman

The paladin bubble is still there, but you do 50% less dmg when its active now.

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGarviel

putting it on now. great hunter nerf here i come...had my last raid as gd dps y'day :'(

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkyrapt

the thing i noticed whit my lvl 73 ele shaman was that somehow i do slightly more damage whit my spells (weee!), also elemental mastery is somewhat handyer now then before 3.0.8 ;p yay ! oh and as stated earlyer, the opening of boxes, quest item objects and such is waaay faster now, dont have to wait 2-3 seconds for it, so u can aply the "run in take the quest item and run away" technique more efficiently xD

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterweber

The simple answer to the Hunter issue, GIEF DPS BACK. The funny thing is, that in most of Naxx and a few heroics, pets are irrelevant. Ever tried Hellgan with a chicken following you?

And besides, why can't hunters be equal with the other dps classes?

January 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterNiimrod

Eventime,

The reason I sold those items is that they have no use, the bosses are summonable without the objects now. :)
