Calling All Writers - Win A Trip To Blizzard HQ

Hey all you writers out there - Blizzard's got a deal for you that may be hard to pass up. The makers of WoW announced this week the company's first global writing contest.
I'm looking at all you roleplayers and lovers of Blizzard's intricate lore. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, here's a chance to have some fun with the storylines that we've gotten to know in-game.
The grand prize winner gets a trip to Blizzard headquarters in Irvine, Calif. (just south of L.A.), where you'll meet (and apparently eat with) the staff behind the lore that we all love. And the lasting prize is your very own RL Frostmourne sword (valued at $429), for whenever you feel like you need a bit of power eternal. Seven runners up also will be chosen to receive signed copies of the Warcraft Archive, Warcraft War of the Ancients Archive, Diablo Archive and StarCraft Archive.
Here's what Blizzard posted:
The official contest rules are pretty straight-forward. You've got to be of legal age in your country of residence, and although it's called a "global" contest, it is limited to residents of 22 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, most of Europe and parts of Asia. Oh, and apparently if you live in North Dakota, Vermont, Connecticut or Maryland or Quebec, you're ineligible. So you'll have some competition. But that's part of the fun of it! You'll also have to sign a release, make sure your work is original, etc.
Now for those of you who are looking for a more lasting prize, check out Blizzard's job openings page. Last I checked, there was an opening for a writer for StarCraft II. For anyone who's more interested in other aspects of game making, there also are several openings for WoW and Diablo III. The exciting part of looking at the page is seeing what kind of work they're doing. Included in the listings under the WoW tab is a position for a Dungeon Artist. More dungeons, anyone? But back to the topic at hand.
I'm thinking of giving this contest a try. Any other takers?

Here's what Blizzard posted:
To enter, submit a 3,000 to 10,000 word story written in English and set in the Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo universe by April 12 and earn your chance to visit the Blizzard Entertainment headquarters and meet the writers and staff behind the lore seen in the games and books.

Sounds uber to me.
I heard about it, and I'm a big RPer and would love to go to Blizzard.
Unfortunately...
I HATE YOU, QUEBEC!!!
*sobs*
i wonder if the sword is functional...i have a lot of enemies :P
I might enter. =)
Oh by the way, the replica of Frostmourne can be found here:
http://www.epicweapons.com/products/frostmourne/
Hrm...any age requirement? If not I think I'll enter. (I'm 17)
If it doesn't glow blue I don't want it...
That's a lie, I'll take it anyway.
Unfortunately I won't be able to participate on it =(
Winning a Frostmourne would be epic
It would be epic to go and visit the Blizzard HQ, I already have the sword so that would be all I'd want (Which I've always wanted to visit Blizzards HQ). Too bad I suck at writing though otherwise I'd actually give this contest a shot.
Oh btw swanzo, the sword isn't sharpened. Not to say it couldn't be sharpened though ;). But either way the thing is big and heavy as hell, so it would do someone in pretty good regardless.
Damn, I'm hella good at writing. Though, lore-wise, I don't know how good I am. I might give it a try. It'd be worth a shot, it'd only be a waste of like one week, a bunch of computer time, and electricity...right? :P
I'm totally for it, if there's a chance for meeting Blizz and going to Blizz PLUS a freakin' sword; Frostmourne no less!
Anyway, thanks for the info.
Pardon me while I laugh at the residents of North Dakota, Vermont, Connecticut, Maryland, and Quebec. :)
That prize is amazing and I'd kill to get it.
Unfortunately killing isn't what the contest is about and I'm not nearly confident enough in my writing skill to put myself up against the rest of the WoW player base.
Good luck to those who enter and to those who end up winning, I hate you already. :D
This sounds like ALOT of fun...if i can finish a story i just might enter...though i am a minor so i will need to get my parents to make me that consent info...ofc i feel bad if i enter since all of you will surely lose....
rofl jk though i am pretty confident in my writing :-p...and if i do win that sword i feel bad for anyone who makes me angry...i will go all Lich King on them hehe O_o
I honestly might consider this...when i was younger i used to write little stories about Starcraft all the time...mind you they were never any good but this would be an awesome chance to go to Blizzard...IM all excited now at the thought =)
I'm working on a story idea right now. XD And there isn't a lvl requirement, but if you're a minor in your country you need Guardian's permission to submit.
does the sword give stats ;O? i could use some strength and intellect ;)
why don't put romania for once as the selected countries
How come warriors are never thirsty?
- Because they dont have a mana pool! :O
Thanks for submitting this Pixie! It´s about time Blizzard give fans this opportunity.
FUCK, just a year away-.-
Oh wow. Good thing my creative writing class just started. THis sounds like a lot of fun. Time to put my writing cap on!
I was thinking about entering until i saw that legal age thing cause im only 11 and legal age is 18 so that sucks cause i could have just brought a parent or someone with me if i'de win!!!
ahh som1 put somthingon deathwing in there!!!1 and maybe they r loookign for more ideas for the next expac lol cause atm i believe they may be out too bad im not 18 yet X(
I am more interested in meeting the writers than the sword, though it would be cool if you got Frostmourne in the game for you DK as a bind to account item.
Hmm... 3,000 to 10,000 words...
Damn, counts me out. My shortest story ever was 57,127 words. I find it impossible to write something shorter.
Nuts.
