Making The Patch 3.1 Cut - Equipment Manager Delayed

Go Squeeze \'Em BlueThe many of you looking forward to the Dual Spec feature coming in Patch v3.1 will be slightly annoyed to hear that the supporting Equipment Manager feature has been cut from the patch.  According to Bornakk - in an odd April Fools RPing thread - the feature has a few "issues" that still need to be banged out before it will meet Blizzard's quality standards.  I haven't played on the PTR enough to know exactly what the issues could be, but it seems that we will be using ItemRack (remember Outfitter has ceased development due to the UI Policy changes) for awhile longer.  Per Blizzard's mantra, it'll be ready soon, which this time means "some time after patch 3.1."  Speaking of patch 3.1, that leviathan of an update will likely be going live in late April.

The slashing of material isn't that big of a deal, as the Equipment Manager is still coming, but more of a sign of how huge Ulduar's patch is going to be.  Perhaps more was bitten off than the company could chew.  At the same time, I would much rather Blizzard cut these "lesser" content additions rather than delaying the entire patch.  For the Equipment Manager, we have had several third-party addons to choose from since WoW launched back in 2004.  Granted, the more robust the default UI is, the better.  It is much easier if we can spend the least amount of time, memory and processing power on addons as possible.

In the meantime, time to prepare for Ulduar, grind up 1000 spare gold, sharpen those daggers for the Argent Tournament and attempt to down the second Old God.  One more after Yogg-Saron and I can be labeled as an Old God Serial Killer by the FBI.  Sweet, a title to strive for!  What do you multi-speccers use for gear swapping at the moment?  Anyone come across Equipment Manager issues?

Late april >.<

Old God Serial Killer.. would be cool if Blizz actually implemented that title.. i could see them do that :)

As a warlock, the equipment manager won't be much use for me, but I suppose it can come in handy once in a while once it's out. Looking foward to Ulduar though :)

"Blizzard’s quality standards" Huh?

You mean released with known reported and acknowledged bugs that will be left unfixed for years if ever?

Yep, that's pure Blizzard quality right there boy!

And still with that no frigging love for engineers.

Lame.

Honestly iTZKooPA, posting news that was on WoW Insider and most other blogs 3 days ago is pretty pointless.

Well, either way everyone is on the edge of their seat waiting for 3.1 to come out. I personally use Baudgear and have for the longest time to do my gear switching.

Baudgear and Quickweapon Swap. As for my mutilate rogue, since wrath came out i've been sticking with daggers
for the most part.

@theShock

it's news to me becuase I, like probably a good portion of the PL fans, don't go to WoW Insider etc. PL is simple, and generalistic for the WoW content while most other blogs are class/race/faction specific and the WoW official sites are forums which makes catching up on news time consuming and difficult.

While for the blog. Thanks for the info. I probably would only use it for three things 1) PvE gear 2) PvP gear 3) season/recreation gear for laughs

I just want the most of 3.1 to be out. I, unlike most people could care less for of Ulduar atm because I haven't had much time to down, and put content on 'farm'. Naxx is still fun, and OS still has things for me. Ulduar will be epic but can wait one more patch for me. I want the class changes mostly and other sentimental things. But hey, that's just me.

Great post. Keep up the work.

This information disappoints me. I was really looking forward to that more than the dual speccing to be honest.

Just bringing up the Yogg-Saron thing. Okay, we have all heard the prophecy; the dwarves are freaking preaching it, so why are we killing the Old Gods? Once they all die, Azeroth is doomed

This is a blog site, not a news site. They may not be the most up to date all the time, but the bloggers put their own spin or analysis on the posts to keep us interested. With all the bloggers (WoWInsider, PL, etc) feeding from the same tit (WoW), it is expected that their content, ideas and opinions will overlap from time to time.

As Nathan pointed out, not everyone goes to multiple WoW places for their fix. All the material in the last paragraph made the article worth the read for me, the notice about Noblegarden and the Equipment Manager are just a bonus. To each their own though.

"Anyone come across Equipment Manager issues? "

Yes I did and still do on the PTR. One of the first HUGE issues was that after a crash caused by the gear manager, the PTR game version would not load and continually crashed. This issue was resolved after the next build came out for me (which was a few weeks after this problem started)

There are two issues with the Gear Manager right now for me 1) is that it sometime forgets to equip an item like my tanking helm from my boomkin one. 2) is kind of along the same line, When trying to equip my feral tank staff to my 1H mace and off hand, the off hand ALWAYS gets left in my bags due to the equiping order of the manager.

IMO the reason they ae cutting stuff to try to get the patch released is to allow players time to do the noblegarden event in APRIL like it's suppost to be instead of in may at the same time or after the chidrens week event. noblegarden is actually meant to be in conjunction with easter which btw is on april 12th this year in the R/L world.

well anyway time to go play in the WoW world for 2 days and then hit the R/L world for 5. R/L work sux I'd rather play WoW then goto work. But just glad I still have a job since most people don't.
