Patch 3.3.2: Bring on Glory of the Hero

I'm sure most of you have noticed by now when running your daily random heroic that there have been a few changes to dungeons to make them run a bit faster. Patch 3.3.2 brought with it several changes that decreased the number of times a boss does a special move, making the encounters quicker and less annoying. And for anyone still working toward earning Glory of the Hero, the changes are bringing that Red Proto-Drake almost within our grasp.

Many of the changes also make their related achievements substantially easier. Let's take a look again at the recent changes that will affect achievements.

The Nexus

  • For Chaos Theory: Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times, reducing the number of rifts that you have to fight through.

The Old Kingdom

  • For Respect Your Elders: Elder Nadox now only gets one Ahn’Kahar Guardian during the encounter, making it easier to kits that one guardian away from Nadox.
  • For Volunteer Work: Jadoga Shadowseeker now only ascends once, instead of three times, during the encounter, reducing the number of times you have to deal with her getting super-buffed from a volunteer.

Utgarde Pinnacle

  • For Lodi Lodi We Loves the Skadi: Skadi the Ruthless can now be removed from his drake with 3 harpoon strikes, down from 5, increasing the likelihood that you can kill him within the three minute requirement.
  • For The Incredible Hulk: Svala Sorrowgrave now casts Ritual of the Sword 1 time during the encounter, down from 3. This is the only instance that the change makes the achievement arguably more difficult to get, since you only get one shot for the ritual to kill the abomination. Actually, a group I ran the dungeon with yesterday tried for the achievement only to have Svala bug out during the ritual, before killing the abomb. We left without the achievement, one of only four that remain for my meta-achievement.

The Forge of Souls

  • For Three-Faced: The Devourer of Souls will now cast Mirrored Souls less often, decreasing the amount of time that dps classes spend not killing the boss, and making it more likely that they can concentrate on interrupting Phantom Blast. The achievement isn't required for the meta, but still worth 10 points.

I'm sure that some players aren't happy with these nerfs that make a lot of the achievements much easier, but on the other side, they certainly do speed up the time to run a dungeon.

It seems like with these changes and the recent gear-ups from ICC, there have been a lot of players trying to finish off these achievements. How many do you have left? Gundrak is my greatest nemesis right now, but mark my words, Less-Rabi and Share the Love will soon be completed!
