I Wanna Hex You Up

I did it. Juggynaut is a Level 80 Shaman. What did I do when I hit 80? I definitely didn't say ding. I spent my last talent point, turned in my quest, then Astral Recalled and trained one of my new favorite toys. Well, I actually trained about three levels worth of skills which cost me hundreds of gold, but the most important one for me was Hex.
For those of you who haven't been paying much attention to shaman lately (including the devs), or those of you who haven't been watching our features from the beta, Hex means I can crowd control a mob temporarily. While it only lasts 30 seconds and has a 45 second cooldown. I've found it terribly useful while soloing, grouping, and even raiding.
While questing, Hex can either eliminate an add for a short period, or it can decrease the damage output of the enemy for a few vital seconds in a fight. I utilized it in both fashions while attempting (and eventually defeating) a 5-man quest with my favorite Night Elf Priest (I love telling people we duoed Mal'Ganis).
In instances, I'll Hex any animals or humanoids I see. It's been great in both heroics and our first steps into Naxx 10, where we managed to down a handful of bosses.
In the end, Hex is a crowd control spell that mixes elements of a lot of the other CC spells that are out there. On the surface, it is polymorph effect, but it also counts as a curse. It can only be used once during a typical battle, like Sap, and has a cooldown longer than its duration, reminding me of blind. Similar to Fear, it doesn't break immediately on damage. Instead it takes a certain amount of damage to break it, which according to my anecdotal evidence can vary. I think I've seen frogs drop dead from AoE before anyone in the group targeted them. While not an ideal CC spell, I'm definitely liking it over my past options (none).

This cracks me up. Juggy, please write more blogs :)
Great Job, Juggynaut! Looking forward to more 80 instances!
FIRST!
Gratz! I hope to get my shaman to 80 tonight!
thats sweet me and my bro 2maned the new ring of blood
@Vincent: I'm guessing hes referring to a quest you complete for the Knights of the Ebon Hold in Icecrown. Since its already sort of spoiled here, the guy leading the Scarlet Onslaught IS Mal'Ganis.... similar to how the last guy in Scarlet Strat is Balnazzar.
They actually changed CC mechanics that break on damage. While it used to be a chance to break on damage, they now actually do have a set limit of damage before they break. It is still difficult to see and sometimes it feels like RNG is kicking your butt, but it is more solid than it used to be.
i did the same when i got to 80 didnt say Ding till i had finished all my quests used my talent point and got hex =P
I'm glad Blizzard finally gave us some CC, but i just wish it was a little more than what it is, like with talent points or glyphs you could increase the duration or decrease the cool down.
Oh well, just the fact that they buff'd us in any shape or form is a plus.
Zosarian 71 Enhancement Shaman Spinebreaker (US)
Best spell in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne!
Ok so now that song is in my head, thanks for that :P
I totally can't wait to hit 80 on my shammy for this spell, coolest thing ever! Just wish I got it in the leveling process to help my resto-butt level! Oh wells....
Man first posts make people look like morons when they don't get first. LOL
Oh and why say ding at 80 when you have a guild wide announcement about you hitting 80???? :P
Ah gotta love the Hex, it was cause of you and goggins i rolled a shaman in the first place (used reqruit a friend to get to 70 quickly before the Lich King launch).
Can't wait to see when and if you guys do a naxxvideo, which my guild cleared today ( woo gz to us for wiping 12 times on sapphiron before melee understood that blizzard = bad )
Ayomo, restoshaman of facepalm, frostwhisper EU
I managed to ding 80 for my shaman main i about 15 days after WotLK launched. Considering that she didn't ding the max level until about 1.5 years into BC (and she hadn't even dinged max during the classic), this is a big personal record.
After paying roughly 300g for the lvl 80 spells and abilities, I was giddy about finally having some form of CC because my chances of getting accepted into a pug have been increased
My only problem with it is that I have a tendency of forgetting that I have Hex. :))
