Add-On Corner Part 1

First off I want to say "Thanks" to everyone for making the launch of Project Lore a successful one. The feedback has been great and I can't wait to move forward with building this community hand in hand with you all!

Now it's time for the first installment of Add-On Corner. I don't know about you but I can't live without my addons. The WoW UI is nice but man can you really tweak this game or what? We've been getting a lot of e-mails asking about my HUD in the show. So I'd like to talk about DHUD or Drathal's Hud. When I first installed this addon it was because I couldn't find a good combo point warning addon for WoW. As a rogue I wanted to have a quick reference for how many combo points I had accrued. Now I know there are little addons that just show balls floating in space but I needed something that was a little more clear. So I found this really interesting HUD that clearly showed the combo points right on the side of the enemy. I was not excited at first... weird tron like rings in the middle of the screen? But man after using it for a day I was hooked! It was amazing how nice it is to see such detailed information about you and your enemy right where you're looking anyway, at the thing you're killing. Now I will give you a few setup tips for this mod, take 'em or leave 'em, this is just how I think it works best.

1) In the "Layouts" tab set the option to have your info on one side and the targets info on the other. By default you have your health and the targets health on one side and your mana/rage/energy as well as the targets on the other. I found this way too confusing right out of the gate. You guys might like it so again take it or leave it.

2) On the "Misc" tab check the box for "Show Player Frame." I found it weird to not have my little icon in the top left corner. Also, when in a group the space is still there where your player frame would be but it's just blank... seems weird.

Well I hope you enjoy trying out DHUD. I know it's a radical change but I think you'll enjoy it once you give it a shot.

Let me handle all the comments for this one. Well I use "Addon Name" and it is way better.

Aside from that, I like to keep all my addons together as much as possible, so I use the WoWAce tools. Updates all addons with one button click (hey my main is a Hunter, it's a theme with me). WoWAce has an addon called ArcHud that seems very similar that I use.

As the human torch would say, "Flame on".

Now not saying that this mod is bad or anything becasue it's tottaly awesome!! just that it's a little out of date (about a year lol) anyways just saying if your having problems with it, it might be a good idea to try out metaHUD looks like someone els just picked the project up and fully copyed everything and just keeped updateing it abit, only thing i see thats diffrance is the defult scale of the hud witch is quickly changed with a click of a button. heres a link.

I personally love this addon. I used to use the wowace one too but found it caused a split second delay on finishing moves(rogue) and heals(shaman). Maybe a conflict with something else so i removed it....missed my HUD and finally went to find a new one and landed om MetaHUD..the revised Drathal HUD..I second the recommendation for this Add-ON..(if this was origiannaly a recommendation..lol..whatever) my.02

Heya Alex!

thanks for the recommendation of the addon. Looks sharp. I went with the MetaHUD as it's more up to date but it's the same concept.
See ya ingame!

Alex,

If you want something a little more light weight, and ACE2, try BasicComboPoints it puts a movable box with a colored number corresponding to your combo points.

I'm a pretty casual player with a just-dinged 70 disc priest, and I'm having the worst time finding a good UI AddOn (all that installing and playing around stuff is eating into game time!). Doesn't sound like metahud would be good for my purposes...any of yous have ideas?

Was wondering if u guys knew a good raid mod to use?

July 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAndion

Drathal's HUD (DHUD) is a dead project and has been for some time. After seeing this mod in your video, I'm considering picking up the project though.

@myself:

MetaHud is someone else's continuation of DHUD.

DHUD still works and is a great mod. That link is quite dated though. The current incarnation is DHUD2 available at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/10553/

So I know I'm a little late to the party here but I'm wondering if you'd take requests for Add-on Corner Part II? In a few shots in your videos you can see a small instance map in the lower right corner of the screen that draws a red path (showing where you've been or where you should go not sure) and I'd love to know what that is. Any help?
