Addons Dorkins Can't Live Without

Let's be honest here, I suck at this game. I don't come from the world of warcraft, I come from the world of suckcraft. So in order to make it look like I have some tiny semblance of skill, I use addons. And lots of them. These are my hunter specific addons, enjoy.
Beast Training. This makes the beast training window look like a talent window, get it, love it, bottom line.

Cooldown Timers2. Do you want to know when your trap is going to break? How about when Bestial Wrath is up? I though so, definite must have.

GFW_FeedOMatic. Having trouble figuring out the nuances of pet feedery. Trouble no more, grab this addon and you are set. Brought to you by Gazmik Fizzwidget.

GFW_HuntersHelper. Everything you ever could have dreamed of as a fresh, tender, young hunter is here. Install it, like yesterday. Gazmik Fizzwidget is a smart S.O.B.

Kharthus's Hunter Timers. Similar to Cooldown Timers2, KHT has the ability to monitor all of your hunter abilities and skills. I use it mainly to show when mend pet and feed pet are active, so I don't go wasting mana and food.

ZHunterMod. Last, but not least, Zhunter is a highly customizable addon that lets you do practically anything with your Petbar, your Trapbar, and your Aspectbar. This frees up a lot of space on your main actionbars giving you room for other things like macros and potions. My favorite part is the movable autoshot casting bar, love that shit.

Because of these beautiful little cyber treats, my suckitude rank in the annals of suckness has gone from General Suckington to a more reasonable Sergeant Suckage. Sucking less is always good, so if you know of any must have addons, let me know.

Thanks for the mods. I'm always stressing when the tank in my group pulls right as my trap disappears.. makes it very hard to chain trap, which will make Cooldown Timers2 very nice.

Also, Beast Training just looks awesome, so I'm getting that too.

Thanks for the mods!

My only problem with this website... you guys are supposed to be showing us strategy, how to kill bosses, eventually show us "raid content"... yet I don't feel as if you guys are qualified enough to be "teachers". People who teach others at something are generally experts in their field. Just like this post, basically saying "you suck".. why would I want to take your advice? Sure I can watch you guys implement some strategy, but come on? Just being critical.. I think the format of the show is great. But I want experts to show me how to play, people that are "better" than me at the game.. SSC/TK has been out forrrrrrever now, and from watching diggnation/reading twitter I know Alex has just now got there...

If you want to have people listen to you, you're gonna need some cred to back yourself up.

@ d - the point of this article is to share his favorite addons that makes it easier to play his hunter [and since these helped him, they could help others too which seems to be great advice to me] . damn you dont need to bring your cocky self in here and say you're better and you want the effing master of world of warcraft to show you something you dont know already.

i think this website is well made ,keep it up guys ,!i liked it

Love this, absolutely love this. After I saw your guys' video I the first thing i wanted to know was your addons. I've got a hunter which is a pain to play because all the skills, I've got all the bottom and right bars, but it is just slow to move the mouse to the right and then back to the center, repeating all over again.

My opinion is, every player sucks, the variable is how much. you can't measure your "skills" in a game that has a "random" element, such as critical chances and all.

But I want to thank you once again; THXXXXX!

@d,

Nobody is forcing you to the watch content here. If you really feel that way, head on over to warcraftmovies or something.

You guys might want to check this out http://files.wowace.com/cat-hunter.html. It's the hunter section of ace addons. The whole ace community is great (located in irc.freenode #wowace) and the ace updater pretty much keep all your addons updated in a few clicks.

The whole point of ace is to slowly replace all your fragmented addons into the whole ace alternative. I guess you won't see a huge benefit, like ram usage, unless you were also an addon whore like me.

Add ons were the first thing I looked for after watching the episode. What general add ons do you all use?

I'm currently checking out a few HUD ones, and noticed you all use different ones.

I also do not think you are qualified to deliver the tutorials etc.

You seem to just be branching out into as many online shows as you can do Alex. You do not however have a good knowledge of most of the content and barely get by on your general I.T. knowledge.

You are a very funny guy though and your personality will hopefully make this into something FUN.

good luck.

I think one of the most important bits of information to share about WoW is addons. I see tons of screenshots and have no idea why the UI looks like it does.

As much as I love hunters, I'd love to see all the guys do an addon post, especially Juggynaut. I'd love to get some more shaman-specific addons going.

Thanks guys! Keep up the awesome work.

i agree with matthew J. My main is a hunter but i also play a shaman and would love to see some shaman specific addons.

Great job on the show and everything on the site guys.

Most classes i believe are hard to play, Especially a Hunter. Having all the Aspects. But, having a whole new UI, kinda pointless. Ive tried to download a few but when basically done i find out the 20mb.. just a we bit too much.

Well, Great show guys, really helpful. And will the next Instance be 'Hellfire Blood Furnace'?

Wowace was mentioned earlier in the comments, I just wanted to point out that the updated has been killed off for now and will be replace by the new Curse client in the future.

Also, I find it funny that people can judge something so early in it's life cycle. We may know alex some, but we really don't know what level of knowledge he has, and we certainly don't know the knowledge level of the rest of the team. Let this play itself out before you judge.

keep up the good work guys.

You forgot to mention a very very important addon for a hunter.. Omen or some kind of Threat meter.

Remember an alive hunter is a useful hunter, never pull aggro off your tank ;)

Sweet bro i have yet to find another site with the quality u have here. I like the movement of the team. Would like to see things slow down a bit, but wut can i say, i love wow,and cant get enough. Keep kickin tail.

Hey guys how do I add these mods? I never done this before and I wanna add it.

July 21, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGrant

RE: Grant

the easiest way to add any of these mods without touching your WoW install folder yourself is either using the www.curse.com clinet or the http://www.wowmatrix.com/ client which is the one that i use.

Thanks

L70 Dwarf Hunter (Survival)
I love that ZHunterMod, that freed up almost 3 action bars (they were quickly filled back up with bombs, potions and quel'danas daily items lol)
I think the content is great this early on, and as you guys said in the beginning that you'd get to the harder dungeons later. The pace at which you guys go is just awsome, I often have to rewind and watch again just to see exactly what happened.

August 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRafail

and also can anyone tell me about the cooltimer 2,do i have to install clearfont 2?

August 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRafail

Yo Dork, switch to marks once, just to see if ya like it, you can still keep your longer traps and get the trueshot.
It's more about you than your pet, perfect for the dungeons.
anyway, not for nothin.
do what you do man
also I love my friggin snake, poison spit FTW
you guys are 4 sure a part of MY daily routine
NICE FRIGGIN WORK

August 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterbilltony

Don't try marks in dungeons, its not practical, beastmaster is best spec for raiding and running heroics. Marks is all about burst damage, which is great if your doing pvp.

I think the show is awsome! Luv it!

Having a hunter also I dont rely so much on the addons, its all about the macros. Using macros you can remove alot of buttons from your UI. For example, this is one I love to use:

/use Bladefist's Breadth
/cast Bestial Wrath
/cast Rapid Fire
/cast Intimidation

MACROS FTW!

August 19, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFernando

@ Fernando

There are 2 posts for hunter in this site, both about the addons and the macros.

A month ago I made a macro that hasn't been mentioned in this site (atleast not that i know). So it's there following:

/cast Raptor Strike
/cast Wingclip

This is a very, very simple macro, but it's quite useful. My problem was that I had too many buttons on my UI, and I noticed that I never use Raptor Strike due to the fact that it is on my 2nd right action bar, and if I'm on a pinch I don't have time to click the Raptor Strike button.

Let's say that you''ve just aggroed a mob and it's coming at you, using this macro, you can do this on one push of a button:

1. Activates Raptor Strike, using it to "buff" your next melee attack.
2. Before the melee swing, you use Wing Clip to slow the enemy and doing a little damage.
3. Your melee swing hits with the Raptor Strike, doing more damage than you would normally do.

I find this macro very useful in PvP, and I have it on my 5 button so i can sometimes just smash it if some retard comes too close.

But this macro has one bad side: If you activate the Raptor Strike, it will turn off your ranged attack. This would force you to deselect the target, and right click it again or pressing "T" twice to cancel the attack and turn on the Auto Shot again if the mob/player decides to back up instead.
