I hate this thing so much... |
One thing I love about video games is their ability to allow me to blow off steam. When I ran up against an unbeatable bug in one of my computer science projects in college I would turn to video games for relief. After "Killing Nazis", which meant playing Day of Defeat (pre-Valve), I would return to my task at hand, relieved of stress and with a fresh mind. More often than not, I would have an epiphany shortly after those breaks, getting me past the frustrations and into new ground.
Yesterday was one of those days. With my attempt at being more green and lowering my heating cost failing at every turn, I walked away from the half-installed pellet stove defeated and highly annoyed. Not wanting my foul mood to affect my lovely girlfriend, I sealed myself off in my office/ferret room/gaming haven and booted up WoW for some stress relief. In Solidsamm's world of Azeroth, everything was smooth as silk.
I was greeted with a few hundred gold in the mailbox upon logging into my Auction House alt. Pretty good start. After beginning my scan of the AH with Auctioneer I was asked if I would like to provide some DPS for the Vault of Archavon. I humbly accepted, logged onto Solidsamm and rushed towards Wintergrasp for my first Wrath raid encounter. Along the way I picked up a stack and change of Saronite, some Titanium and an assortment of crystallized elements.
The vault doesn't have much to offer, just another instance in a collection of Wrath's one-boss raids. After clearing a few trash mobs we walked up to Archavon with noses plugged and began the generic tank-n-spank encounter. The raid's overall DPS was pretty low - mine being a pitiful 1,900, need more heroics! - but we managed to down the Stone Watcher before his enrage triggered, and with only one death. I quickly grabbed my Emblems of Heroism and glanced at the item drops to see a piece of leather had dropped and I was the only Rogue in the raid! Darn, serves me right for checking the armor class instead of the name. I guess everything wasn't silk.
Despite the lack of loot (can't expect epics everyday) my hour of WoW served its purpose. I got to relax, joke with friends, meet some new people, get asked to join a guild and take out some bad guys. With just shy of an hour played, my mood had gone from sour to chipper as I headed off to bed. I <3 video games.

VOA is a great quick encounter. Free drops and emblems are far as im concerned. I just wish the CD on it wasnt a week like other raids. I mean, cmon, its only one guy, how about a 3 day CD instead?
Is goggins ever coming back not to be mean to the new paladin dude (havent been bothered to rem his name) but he doesnt really fill the comic gap.
Yeah...those days always seem to be really lame in the begining, but after your day gets better you feel great! and i agree with Rak...wtb shorter raid Cooldowns :)
But what happens when even games doesn't help?
Sometimes when I'm in a bad mood, I would also turn to games for a relaxing session, not so relaxing when you get wiped often or when you keep getting corpse camped, and I will get so angry to the point of clenching my fist, bang the table, shout "Argh!" and storm off to watch TV.
Come back 1 hour later with a good mood and an evil grin to hunt down that noob who corpse camped me hehehe >D
Hey I use video games a lot to let off steam.
Great article , but what does wintergrasp have to do with this xD (the title for the article for me say "my first step into wintergrasp)
ditto who doesnt? Cept never go into pvp if your in a bad mood unless you have a twink it mite make it worse /wink.
What are u talking about Saiph? Jeff nicely replaced Goggins. Not saying Goggins was worse or anything. They are both nice guys and make Project Lore fun to watch.
I think what Saiph was trying to say is Jeff doesn't add as much humor to the episodes like Goggins did. Not saying that Jeff is bad or anything but Goggins did well... bust out into song more often then Jeff does.
Yes, WoW is my stress relief as well. Though usually it's play Psychos on the RP servers with some friends. "But I wanna pet the puppy with a knife."
Yeah, but Goggins is a music guy (what ever teen drama show w/ a singer for the main character he's on is. (/gag)) Jeff brings something different, Though I admit I haven't seen many episodes with Goggins in it, so I don't know what exactly he brought, but I like Jeff, he keeps it real.
/kiss @ Jeff
VoA is great-but highly annoying. In effect with 2 lucky runs you can save yourself 150 badges on tier 7. Also, the pvp gear is epic, considering that I CBA to get ganked endlessly before coming into decent pvp contention
I miss goggins as well.
i miss goggins soooo much
he was one of the main reasons i watched it
/love goggins
I like Jeff, he's pretty cool. Especially when he's screaming about Jimmy attacking the boss all by himself.
They're both cool. I like Jeff's laid back ways.
BRING THEM BOTH BACK!
You know what I say?
Six-mans ftw hands down I win.
---->Welcome to Nazphail<----
I play video games to blow off steam, to have fun, to work, to get paid, and to get angry. And ya I miss Jerry as well. But Jeff is great.
I think the cooldown at 3 days would be nice, but there are already countless to dumb to realize when they are saved to a week long instance imagine the cluster of a 3 day save.
