PTR 3.3: Jaina Proudmoore Less Busted, Better Protected

Yeap, Boobies Are Way Too Small

Finally, subscribing to @Warcraft on Twitter has paid off.  Yesterday, Blizzard, by way of said Twitter account, updated all its followers with news that Jaina Proudmoore "needed new attire for an urgent upcoming event.  So our artists obliged."  Obliged indeed, but they didn't just stop at her attire (which is the same look, but appears to actually be fashioned armor, instead of squishy cloth).

Jaina also received a much needed makeover, complete with a unique face.  The whole ensemble clocks in at a higher resolution (is that a belly button?!), giving the famed character all the glam and curves any NPC could ever want.  It's not exactly how the comics portray her though.  I am of course referring to the size of her...staff.  It's much taller than her in the comic...Yeap, the staff.

/me looks around shifty-eyed.

This is actually the Ruler of Theramore's second major update since her former lover became the focus of our attention.  The first being minor adjustments to her face and stomach.  She wants to save him so badly that she's resorted to cosmetic surgery to return him to the light!

With Jaina all dolled up, the artists can now focus on some of the other leaders.  I don't know about you, but after almost five years I'd think Thrall would have replaced his gear.  Especially since he's been chasing Jaina all over Azeroth.  Even orcs should realize that human females enjoy men who change their outfits!

A forum thread on the topic prompted Zarhym, everyone's favorite disembodied chattering head, to tease us with further Patch 3.3 details.  "We feel now is a very good time to get Jaina an update since her and Sylvanas will play key roles in the five-player Icecrown Citadel dungeon. That isn't to say other heroes will not receive similar treatment in the future. ;)"

Seems safe to say that Jaina and Sylvanas will be appearing during the assault on Icecrown Citadel, and hopefully in the absolutely epic death of Arthas.  I hope I am not overselling the upcoming event, but I am quiet excited to see which direction Blizzard takes us.  After all, it'll be the culmination of Warcraft III's events, allowing us to progress into uncharted territory.

Here's a link to the old image of Jaina for comparison.

hmm, how about Blizzard actually FIX broken stuff before working on silly cosmetic changes?

Yet another pointless exercise, to waste time and energy they could have put into making T10 actually look any good

Call me crazy but I don't think they really look that different.

You know, I think her face looks better in the old one. She's ugly in the new one. Do like the armor upgrades though.

Pardon me but, the new model makes her look like a slut

The face actually has quite a few changes, but they are hard to see unless you have a close-up.

yeah definitely liked her old face, new one is not pleasing, but the new armor is sweet.

The picture shown wasn't clickable to enlarge. phail-core.

@ Jeffery Anderson

I agree with you, making these changes are pointless and besides, doesnt blizzard have other things to work on rather than fixing up old characters? But hey, thats my opinion.

I think the update was definately needed...but i am really upset that i have been grounded for both the re-release of Onyxia and it seems i will be for this too!...but since my grades are finally up again ( i was grounded for bad grades at the end of last year) i may be able to sweet talk my way to getting ungrounded in time for this new content

also @ everyone who thinks these updates are pointless...
i am not arguing i am just saying They have a department dedicated to artwork so NPC makeovers are not wasting anything...the ones that we should be yelling at are the Devs behind the many bugs that happen after patches...so in truth they are just earning their pay...PLUS it doesn't make sense for one of "the most powerful magi in azeroth" to be wearing gear that looks like you could get it at level 40

October 8, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterZidius

/agree with Zidius about the artwork dept

think of it this way. if the artwork dept wasn't making these changes and had their other tasks complete, then what would we be paying them for? sit on their asses? then y'all would still be whining because they were wasting our $$. quit bitchin about changes to NPC or the game.

It's not like the people reworking Jaina's appearance are the same people responsible for fixing bugs, you know.

October 8, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterStaffan

I still preferred the previous artwork of Jaina.

October 8, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMichael

For both the old one and this new one...well...I guess Blizz is just trying to make her not look attractive...?

Artists don't work on anything but.....ART. Are you all seriously expecting the art department to be doing nothing at all between new content expansions? Give me a break.

If you have a problem with the gameplay it self you need to take it up with Ghostcrawler and his crew and not the art department. That's like yelling at the guy at the bagel store that it's taking to long for your number to be called at the DMV.

Finally Blizzard added Whores to the game

Nooo they wouldn't change Thrall's armor, but it could use some polishing. Thrall is wearing Orgrim's armor.
