3.1 PTR Unveils Legendary Mace, New Rings, and More

Image from MMO-Champion.comMMO-Champion has been bringing the thunder this morning with tons of news that has been cascading out of the public test realm. With a build of patch 3.1 live on the PTR, players have been given the first full look at an almost overwhelming number of changes and additions to the World of Warcraft. Big, drool-worthy news for Paladins, Priests, Druids, and Shaman is that a legendary One Handed Mace looks like it will be making its way to those classes' hands eventually. The classes mentioned will have the ability to collect 40 Fragments of Val'anyr and combine them, creating Shattered Fragments of Val'anyr, which begins a quest, eventually rewarding Val'anyr, Gavel of the Ancient Kings. Here's to hoping there's a version which certain enhancement shaman might be able to use.

Players have also discovered that inscribed versions of the Kirin Tor rings (the ones that cost 8000g and teleport you to Dalaran) are available for an additional 1000g. These rings will be item level 213 and require the original ring to purchase.

Finally, MMO-Champion revealed that new mounts and pets are being added into WoW, including Mimiron's Head, which summons and dismisses a rideable mechanical gnome head! This thing reminds me of Bowser's clown faced aircraft from Super Mario World. A full list of the pets and mounts can be found below.

Ooh.... I want Val’anyr, Gavel of the Ancient Kings. It would be very cool to have on my priest. Well, hopefully it will be.

Aquatic Riding Ray - Summons and dismisses an Aquatic Riding Ray. This is an aquatic mount.

does this mean will we are going to have spending more money on training for a mount?

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJoenips

Well, seeing to the classes that will be able to get the legendary mace, it will be a healing mace.

However, if there will be choice at the end of the quest, I'm hoping my shammy will be Enhance his way to it too.

What is the point of an aquatic mount? are there gonna be dungeons that now are done completely underwater? or is it just another way to go faster, even though there are barely any quests that are done underwater.

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterM

Finally! Aquatic mount! We can finally swim around northrend....that's didn't sound helpful. Anyways, hoping there will be an underwater dungeon, to be completed within 3 minutes or the raiders die. No seriously, there should be an Atlantis dungeon to run through :D

AQUATIC!! blizzard, stop reading my mind. This game cant get any better! (unless the fix the LFG system /sigh)

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHerofTime

When you look at mmo-champion it says you need 40 Fragments of Val'anyr to create the quest item but it also says that it's a unique item and you can only have up to 30 of those fragments?
Is there a mistake or something?

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterghostler

@ Ghostler, Blizz didn't want people to be able to get it on the PTR, so they made it so you could only obtain 30.

And I believe most of those pets and mounts (excluding Gnome head and Manta ray) are from the new Argent Tournament, a vehicle "arena" type thing.

"Sen’jin Fetish - Right Click to summon and dismiss your Sen’jin fetish."

Err, a pet fetish? Isn't that illegal? Or at least, morally wrong. o_O

Hmmm an aquatic mount...... dont see much point when i could simply dare i say it, fly over the water

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHeyshorty

maybe it is a totem that follows you around, this could be a new way to stop shaman QQ over totems (there is not much, but less QQ more pew pew is always a good thing)

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterchurchill

i seriously think that blizz steals my ideas. a long time ago i came up with the idea of people having some kind of skill to let other people ride on their mounts and they came out with grand mammoths and motor cycles for 3 people. I also came up with aquatic mounts which looky here an aquatic mount!

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkevin

Finally there will be more pets. It's really hard to get them right now without a ton of money or a ton of luck, but from the look of the names, they might be relatively easy to get. Here's hoping...

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFelaryn

Ah cool, more mounts equal easier mount achievement.

Lol at Bowser clone car comment. Sort of want to make an alt with a Bowser like name and get that mount. Maybe if I ever go play horde again.

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterZaraken

After looking back at the names, it seems to me like some pets might be race specific. I really hope I'm over analyzing, because if they are that cuts the amount available in half.

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFelaryn

lol if the mounts are race-specific then that means that us BEs get turkey hatchling O.o
and i already got that achievement friend or fowl, so how odes that work out?

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSoullfrost

Ooh, more troll stuff! I can't wait to see the Sen’jin mount and pet.

"# Gorloc Orphan - Right Click to summon and dismiss the orphan you’ve agreed to look after for Children’s Week.
# Wolvar Orphan - Right Click to summon and dismiss the orphan you’ve agreed to look after for Children’s Week."

Hmm... that's interesting!
Could we see 3.1 live before the end of Children's Week?
Otherwise it looks like some achievements will get easier to acquire.

February 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCappyG

ok....im officially excited now....i may have a reason to buy that kirin tor ring now....and also aqutic mounts should be awesome...im a druid but its gonna be cool to have an actual water mount....and the mimirons head just sounds f&$*in awesome lol
