Wraith Observes Algalon the Raid Destroyer

Algalon the ObserverWith Yogg Saron having already been downed many times all over the world, there remain a few challenges from Patch 3.1 that have yet to be overcome. Wraith, an EU guild has managed to unlock the 10-man version of Algalon the Observer, the "True" final boss encounter of Ulduar by defeating the Assembly of Iron, Hodir, Thorim, Freya, and Mimiron, all on their hard modes. MMO-Champion has a multitude of screen shots courtesy of Wraith, along very few details about the fight, but it is being speculated that each raid has only one hour per day to attempt to defeat the boss.

I've heard rumors that failing to defeat Algalon results in the destruction of Azeroth, though I can't help but feel that might be a bad move on Blizzard's part. I guess we could all escape to the Outland, though.

Check out MMO-Champion's post for all of the crazy screen-shots, and leave your predictions on how long it might be until we see a world first Algalon kill.

Algalon looks to be a VERY fun fight, but one I probably will never see.
To unlock ALgalon, you need to do a quest chain, starting from a drop from a boss, on hard mode, I believe. This calls for you to beat the 4 watchers of Ulduar on Hard mode. Once the chain is done, Algalon is unlocked.

However, seieng how form a lore standpoint. If we dont stop Algalon, were all dead, its cool how we can only fight him 1hr a week. Its a get in, kick ass, and then go home, or shine in glorious victory!

hell yes. Cannot wait to gear up and run this badboy down! If that's even possible. Judging from the screenshots my macbook will break upon entering that fight. WTB better graphics card!

Another note, totally off-topic: I love how Heartbourne got so much bad press from his latest blog post he actually took it down when i was in mid-comment. Way to realize what a big mistake you made with the elitist post -.- Still you've lost major kudos with that one sir.

I pray to god that one day, maybe, I'll be able to be geared up enough to run Ulduar and unlock Algalon and kick his fuckin ass! But so far that's just a dream. I havn't even run a heroic yet so I've got a long ass road ahead :(

@Reeves Heartbourne sure as hell lost MAJOR fuckin kudos. what a dickhead thing to post.

Algalon (from what I've read on mmo-champion) is a serious fight. It has been confirmed by a blue post as well that you only have 1 hour in which he will be able to be fought PER WEEK as per this post by Valnoth

http://blue.mmo-champion.com/12/16473611256-algalon-only-allows-1-hour-of-attempts.html

This will be a while for people to get down. On top of the difficulty, part of the hard mode has to be how much it will tax your computer setup with the intense graphics lol. If they had gone with the 1 hour only for hard mode attempts on all bosses there would be endless QQ from raiders but for Algalon it's fitting. There would probably be quite a few guilds putting in the time just wiping and going again until they get him down, but putting a time limit on how long you have to do that really puts a halt on progression/getting a full clear.

I think the whole reason behind it is that he is sending a message to the other Titans that, "Azeroth is full of failboat lifeforms and how about we all come here and nuke the bejesus out of them and start fresh eh?" and we have to stop him from sending that message, guess intergalactic email takes an hour to transmit.... Shoulda went with the Interstellar DSL package, sure it's a couple bucks a month extra but think of the time he'd save!

Didn't expect anyone to unlock Algalon to be unlocked this early. Kinda interested to see how long it takes the super guilds to get this guy down with an one hour per week timeline to work in.

As for bashing Heartbourne in someone elses post, way to be classy. It looks like he pulled the post to make an edit then put the post back up. From what I read it's nothing less than what you would get from any decent forum admin or grammar nut. And bashing a post about poor grammar and spelling with a line of profanity....priceless.

Wow this guy looks like a beast. Maybe it's a good think I might never see him, since my computer would probably drop dead after trying to run everything for the fight. I can't even fathom what kind of loot this boss will drop. Any idea? I wonder if 10 man loot from him will be better than a good chunk of 25 man loot from early Ulduar

Would be cool if a raid wipes on him a world event occurs in all the majors cities where its like the end of the world with all the fun stuff looting (the FUN kinf of looting) fires in the city random fights breaking out...then after a little bit it ends like nothing happened

Along with my post above something to update is MMO-Champion put up a video of a guild actually attempting the fight, they last what a grand total of 30-45 seconds before they are all dead.

Also, found a cool video with the audio from the boss and encounter that goes into the story of why Algalon is there and what happens if you...

a. Don't beat him in that 1 hour window
b. Beat him in that window and change his mind about Azeroth and it's people.

**Spoiler alert in the link below for those who don't want to see/hear this stuff till they actually get to the fight themselves**

Just thought that as this is Project Lore, it would be a great addition to your post Juggy if you want to add t it or make a new post about it.

I seriously have np whatsoever with people doing the raiding and stuff, but I just don't see the point of these people raiding all end game stuff, or being the first to level 80 so they can grind epics. I mean yeah defo take it at your own pace, but when he is down, the final boss? What then? If I was blizz i would seriously be pissed off at stuff like this.

But as i seen the screenshots. Good going. I'm sure your raiding group will be bored sometime very soon :D

April 22, 2009 | Unregistered Commenteronthebuses

I would bet all the difficulty in getting to Algalon and actually defeating him was blizzards intentions. They needed to put something in the game that would keep us busy until IC especially after how wotlk launch went and everyone blew threw naxx so quickly. gg blizz for the intense hopefully pre nerf muru like fight. On the other hand when blizzard adds content like this to the game, it quickly accelerates the coming of the end of warcraft. What would come after algalon and arthas? The pantheon?? yeah right /end warcraft :( My guess though is they will find a way to transition WoW into SC. It would be a more subtle way to end the game we all love so much.
