Find Your Chivalrous Side in the Argent Tournament

Feeling a bit down on your luck lately? Run into one too many ganks, Ulduar wipes or failed PuG runs? Perhaps it's time for you to take a break from the grind and get to know your toon's chivalrous side through the Argent Tournament.

Now I know some people in our Project Lore forums have expressed skepticism about how popular the Argent Tournament will be in the long run. Others also seem enthusiastic about the idea. I, for one, love being able to kick back for some casual game play in the tourney.

I've always thought that WoW has taken a new look at Azeroth as a different kind of take on medieval times. But the Argent Tournament is a bit less subtle, which I find refreshing. We don't have to dig deep to find plenty of pop-culture references that provide framework for how we visualize medieval times. You know, the romanticized, Hollywood version with valiant good guys who wield legendary weapons to defeat a corrupt and overbearing government and win over the hot (and virgin) woman.

Right away for the tournament, you start quests investigating a mysterious black knight who is said to be able to defeat anyone who is unfortunate enough to meet him (I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't started, but it's a fun quest line!) Then you'll progress into proving your jousting worth and venturing around the world to either gather various items, kill random bad guys or rescue helpless maidens (I don't think it matters whether your toon is male or female!) It all leads to more jousting until reaching Champion status and working toward buying some tournament rewards.

If you want to speed through the new addition, or if you want a closer look at what you'll be getting yourself into, definitely take a look at iTZKooPA's guide to the Argent Tournament. As for me, I am thoroughly enjoying taking my time through these quests (on my husband's main, haha, I'm still leveling!). It makes me want to join a RP server and see what kind of fun plot lines are being worked into the already awesome tournament goodness. I definitely call the Argent Tournament a win for WoW.

So what does everyone else make of the new Argent Tournament addition? Is it holding your interest, or something that you'll be over within a week or two? I'm hoping that the coliseum area continues getting built up so that it maintains a fresh feel.

I like the tourney personally. It gives me something new to do. I've been bored with grinding rep & farming Naxx.

I like the Argent Tournament. It's a bit dull after awhile, but it's given me new incentive to start grinding for rep and gold again.

I love it! It's a lot of fun. I'm sure I'll get tired of the dailies eventually, but right now they're more fun than doing the same old Sons of Hodir ones.

So far I'm liking it a fair bit. Just got to champion status today and finished the black knight questline. At the very least I'm enjoying it because it's a great way to load up on money, and the epic tanking weapon will be a nice addition to my secondary prot spec :-D

Easy 150g/day min without much effort (if you take the gold bags instead of rep.) You can complete 4 of these quests at the same time too. The Hippo mount however at 250 marks is going to take almost 50 days to grind doing full dailies. /suck.

yea i mean i think people are going to stick with it because it is easy money and its close to where some of the main dailies people do. some people may drop out once they get their mounts or what ever they want but i know im staying with it for the simple and easy money.

I'm really enjoying the tournament so far. Both my Mage and Druid are champions of their cities and are working their way to championing a second (Ironforge for the mage and Exodar for the druid) and come tomorrow's round of the dailies they'll each have brand new spell blades care of the Champion's seals.

For these first two the mounts are really the main goal, just aiming for the blades, tabards and titles (Thelmaris of Ironforge? yes please) the big grind won't come till my Paladin hits endgame, I plan to earn him the right to champion for every city, to the Argent Hippogriff, to get the two handed sword, etc etc.

...to clarify an error I meant to say that the mounts AREN'T the goal for the first two characters...

I'm close to championing Sen'jinn (I'm a troll, so). Will be Orgrimmar after that. Then Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon and eventually Undercity.

On a side note, anyone picked up the shirts from the souvenier salesman? The Orgrimmar and Undercity shirts look immense. Glad I rolled Horde. =]

Tournament equal the win, yes.

As far as whether or not I'd invest a character of mine into the tournament, I suppose I have two of them that could be sent there by their respective factions (both being of the neutral factions in character, Ebon Blade and Argent Crusade).

But regardless, the tournament is not only fun and interesting, but a great source of dailies for me personally. I took my time doing quests, even my Death Knights, so I'm exalted with all the cities which means that I actually get 23 gold per Champion daily (which is good for me because I'm poor). The other thing is the Sunreaver reputation which, despite them having no rewards or anything further just yet, makes me happy because I hated seeing them at neutral (and yes, I also hate seeing Hand and Taunka stay at the rep they're at as well. I'm a completionist, what can I say?).

So there is a kindred spirit out there! :D

I smell Isle of Quel'Danas, I LOVED that isle, it was fun, will be happy if they do that here too!

I wasn't too interested in this tournament until today actually. I was bored and want to do achievements and TITLES!

I really want my exalted Gnomes/Dreani status, then i can roll on a mechanical ostrage/oversized elephant.

I adore the fact that this tournament is not PvP centric to be able to reach the next levels. I hate doing PvP, not because I'm not any good at it (I'm quite good actually), I just don't like to PvP.

The other aspect I enjoy is the fact that at 80 you can pick up 13g48s per daily, with just south of 2g for the bridge quests for the next level. It's a nice way to earn easy gold and whittling your way to the ever tedious 1000 Daily Quests in the achievements.

I hope this stays as a permanent fixture in the game.
