I'm a creature of habits in the morning. I have a well defined morning routine consisting of a PvA (Person versus Alarm) battle that I always lose, a shower, getting dressed and breakfast. In all fairness the alarm does get its opener in every morning. Like many of you, I manage to fit World of Warcraft into the slice of time before noon. It's not always productive, sometimes I just have time to check the AH - go go gadget Auctioneer! - other times I manage to steamroll a handful of dailes before the workday beckons.
You can imagine how flustered I get on maintenance days. I mean how dare Blizzard mess up my morning routine. I have half a mind to run into Blizzard's office and slap coffee cups out of each and everyone on of their hands until I am satisfied. I digress though. To avoid this week's frustration, I arranged my PvA skirmish about an hour earlier, allowing me to get some play time in before the servers had to turn their head to the left and cough. Yesterday was one of those productive days.
I logged in only 14 minutes before the server was set to go down. Once that first strip of yellow popped up, I knew it was on. I snagged the Champion quests for Stormwind - only 2 factions to go! - and mounted up for the day's Valiant challenge. I quickly moved to the main tent, picked up the four Champion dailies and returned to my Exodarian mount for some more challenging jousts. With under five minutes remaining I flew out to Sindragosa's Fall to lay waste to some Scourge. As I went in for my first kill Blizzard's script politely notified me that I had 3:30 remaining. Fifteen kills in 3:30 for a rogue who wants to loot and pickpocket applicable mobs. "It'll be close," I thought as the first baby frost wyrm struggled to fly away before collapsing. I tore through the mobs, dropping them faster than Manny Pacquiao. With 10 seconds remaining on the clock I dropped the last mob, went down on one knee to collect my rewards, and was logged off.
I missed that last batch of loot. With my luck it was a guaranteed epic item, but I am happy with what I accomplished in that short time frame. In 15 minutes - add a minute to return and hand in the quests - Solidsamm completed four quests, earned himself circa 75 gold, scored a few Writ's, some Seals, and a round of reputation. Not bad for the morning routine. If the 2004 Solidsam (originally had one s) heard about 300 gold an hour he'd explode.
Does WoW play a part in your morning? Just the general AH/mail stuff or do you take it a bit further?

yay first, i usally like to play in evening during raids, and when most others are on, i mostly dont play on weekdays so i dont mind matinence
I usually don't play wow till late afternoon, but with summer here, I tend to play later on a night, as it is hard for me to want to play when it is nice and sunny outside. If I play at all in the morning its just to check the AH and logoff.
Naw, Parental Controls :(
Usually if I'm in a schedule bind, depending on how long I have I'll get on, check mail, maybe a few needed (rep specific) dailies on my main; or I'll get on my Druid alt for mindless grinding/minimal questing.
Grats on your time bind achievement :P they should have an achievement for completing X amount of dailies in X amount of time or something... just a thought.
Random, but fun post.

The server maintenance script always spurs me to furious action. For some reason even though I might have been twiddling my thumbs in Org for the previous 30 minutes, somehow a yellow warning, makes it an imperitive to get as much done as possible in 15 minutes.
No. I don't have enough time in the mornings to even turn on my computer because im a HARD sleeper. And when my alarm goes off at 6 AM every morning, i don't hear it until i start to come out of the unheard of level of sleep i dive into every night i lay down.
I've gotta catch a bus in the mornings(im still in school, last year) at 7:15. I usually don't roll out of bed and get dressed until 6:30. Sometimes 7. So, the thought of fitting WoW into my morning routine is just not an option. I would like to be able to fly around Icecrown Citadel and awe at it for a few mins.
I usually win the PvA battles which end up with a mad dash through the shower, to the car & on to work. If no work, mornings are spent chaising a little white ball around the place.
I'm a zombie in the morning. Usually by the time I wake up after my own PvA battle (snooze version), I'm in too much of a hurry to fit in any WoW. Not that I'd be all that productive in my zombie-state, anyhow :)
I always get up 1 minute before my alarm sounds, since it scares the crap out of me.
I don't mind about maintenance since I'm in school by that time, but I do play WoW early on weekends.
heck ya... as soon as I check my emails its off to wow to check mail... and maybe do a quest or two before my daily routine.. and I'm back in the evening when all the cool people are on :D
Yea I wish I could play alittle WoW in the morning but I wake up and get out the door in 10-15min so I don't have time to spare
I work 11:00 pm to 7:00 am (EST) and play a few hours when I get home. Tuesday is my catch-up on morning TV day (it sucks BTW).
I often fit in a little WoW before uni in the mornings problem is it always makes me late casue always want to hand in that one quest or get that last bar of experince, and then there is the annual AH check to boot, just wish i had more time
I work nights and play WoW in the mornings. On tuesdays, I switch over and play Guild Wars for a while before bed. It's nowhere near as involved as WoW is, but it's a good place-keeper. Thinking of trying WAR out as my tuesday game, but my comp needs an update first.
I get home from work at 11:pm server time, so I do play in the AM. From 2am to 5am is a great time to gather ore and herbs, tho finding guildies or decent pugs is rough, at least for me.
in the morning i just check AH and manage my bank havent got time for anything else so it's about 5 mins of WoW in the morning then off to work
No way. At least not during the week. I love to sleep so there's no chance I'd wake up half hour-hour earlier to get some wow-time in the morning.
Weekends though, another cookie - then it's Breakfast with Dailys every time :)
I usually log on for a bit after I check my email. It's usually just AH, check mail and out. Sometimes I'll hearth home to get ready for a quest later that night, or on my lunch break if I think I'll be home.
Yeah, I always do as many dailies as I can fit in before I set off to school. :D
That sounds weird server maintainance during the day :S. The European servers have a more friendly timing with servers only ever going down at 3AM for extended maintainance or 5AM for rolling restarts.
Otherwise I (mostly) work evenings and weekends, so it's a little bit before work and a couple hours after work before bed.
Guaranteed if I tried to fit any kind of gaming before leaving for work, I would be late every single day. The issue? I bus to work and therefore operate on a very tight morning schedule.
I'm up at 6:15, dress, make-up, breakfast, and I walk out the door at 6:40 to catch the bus at 6:45.
From there I get to my transfer at 7:00 and get to work at 7:40.
I work on a secured server (no WoW access) until 16:30, hop on my bus at 16:40, get to my transfer at 17:20, and finally get home by 17:40 (earlier on the very rare occasion).
Then it's dinner until about 18:30 and then, AND ONLY THEN, can I hop into the game to play.
Even there I limit myself to gaming no later than 21:30.
A tight schedule, but it works for me.
I do two things in the morning. The cooking daily and the fishing daily. I get up at around 5:30 and I'm off by 6:15 to eat breakfast and stuff. Don't ask me why I wake up that early. I set my alarm to 6:45. ._.
I always win in PvA (snooze every 15 minutes) but gets yelled at home later on when i return coz i got late for school...
Tuesday maintenance... always catches me by surprise. It's odd, but it seems that whenever I take a weekday off, or work from home, and want to get in a bit of WoW time, it's a Tuesday, and there's maintenance.
I wish. With twins in first grade and a 2 yr old to get ready in the morning, there is ZERO time for anything WoW related. I'm pretty sure if I even tried it that the wife would glitch, instantly enrage, one shot me and, with my luck, I'd have trouble rezzing. =P
I have to say, I played WOW everytime I have a freetime, or not, but then again, that's why I did badly on the last 2 semesters, failed the last 1 too. So I finally decided to play at least 1-2 hours before I sleep :D
