Patch 3.2 Achievements Reveal New Holiday, More

the_first_thanksgiving_jean_louis_gerome_ferrisPatch 3.2 is finally available on the PTR, which means that players will be able to find out all sorts of fun information about what changes lay ahead for us. Most of the changes are covered in the patch notes, but MMO-Champion found a bunch of new achievements to go along with the new patch. I, as an achievement whore, am very excited about these new (pointless) goals.

Browsing through the list of achievements, they come out in a few different categories, covering the 10- and 25-player versions of the Crusader's Colloseum along with their heroic modes, Isle of Conquest (the brand new battleground), Koralon (the new Vault boss), and Pilgrim's Bounty and Pirate Day/Day of the dead.

Wait, Pilgrim's Bounty? Pirate Day? Day of the Dead? New world events! Since Pirate Day and Day of the Dead only have one achievement listed for each of them, I'd assume they'll occur for only one day and have minimal impact on the world for their duration. But Pilgrim's Bounty raises my excitement level! There are a number of fun looking achievements to go along with the new holiday that I'll assume will take place over Thanksgiving week. For those of you unaware, Thanksgiving takes place on the fourth Thursday of every November in the United States. Of course, Blizzard could always adopt the Canadian version, which takes place on the second Monday of October each year.

The only question I have is whether or not we'll have to participate in this new world event to get our Violet Proto Drakes from the Long Strange Trip achievement. If it's anything like the new and improved Noblegarden, then we will. I'm OK with that, but I'm sure some of the other players hoping to get that 310% mount might get upset.

In addition to those new holiday achievements, there are a few new Feats of Strength, which hint at some more free pets for logging in. A Jade Tiger sounds like fun! What are your thoughts on these new achievements? Anything in particular draw your interest? What about the new world event? Can't wait or sick of holidays?

Wasn't there a pirate day in WoW already? I'm pretty sure it was during the "International Talk Like A Pirate Day" in september.

Aye!

btw, pilgrims day will have a polymorph turkey book as a reward

I actually look forward to Pilgrim's Bounty, since it always bothered me that Blizzard didn't have an in-game counterpart to Thanksgiving Day (which is among my favorites because it's not commercialized as badly as Halloween and Christmas).

There are half a dozen or so new recipes to go with Thanksgiving (making the Cooking achievement ridiculously easy). Chutneys and stuffing and that. From the number of achievements it looks like its another fortnight (or maybe one week) festival. I hope it doesn't get rolled up into the meta, as I'm on course for October's Violet Protodrake with my main (not Pegraath that I post on here as).

Isn't Day Of The Dead a Mexican festival? Anyone know when this is approximately?

Good to see another boss in Archavon's Vault. Hopefully he'll be as challenging at launch as Emalon was (and n00bs will have learnt their lesson to not join up with blues which is thankfully rare now). With a bit of luck I may be tanking Archavon himself with my Warlock by then! lol

My first thoughts: "Oh great...more lame World Events."

Day of the Dead (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead)

There you go Pegraath, all the info you could ever want/need concerning El Día de los Muertos (All Soul's Day).

June 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterRasun

i find this all quite cool

June 24, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterhigy

I really like the world events.

Here are some of the dates:

Harvest festival 8 Sep-13 Sep
Pirate Day 19 Sep
Brew Fest 20 Sep-4 Oct
Hollow's End 18 Oct-1 Nov
Day of the Dead 2 Nov

I think all the dates are right. This is a busy time of the year :)

I really hope the Thanksgiving one does not get included in the meta, an extension of my wait at this point would be cruel.

June 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKagitaar

Uhm I will track down a blue just to kick them in the testiclular membrain should they include any more in the long strange trip. I grumbled through the grind they added with the latest patch but now I'm down to Brewfest half of which is already complete stick another in there blizz I dare ya.

June 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterPauldy

If you Americans can have thanksgiving and the Mexicans get day of the dead then we English should at least get St Georges day.

June 25, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDragoro

it would be said if they added another world event what a strange trip its been

June 25, 2009 | Unregistered Commentercocopuff
