Don't Go Shardin' Those Purps
This may seem obvious to many of you, but I thought I would share a bit of insight that I learned the hard way. No matter how much you want to free up that extra bag slot, you should always think twice (or maybe 3 times) about destroying your hard earned pieces of loot. I know it is hard to see a use for those boots you got in Kara when you have a shiny new piece of tier 5 sitting in your bags, but chances are you will need it again. I learned this lesson the hard way when it came time for our guild to take on Hydross in SSC. This fight requires that the main tanks deck themselves out in full resist gear, while still remaining uncritable. I, of course, was elected to be the guilds frost tank, meaning I needed to have both 365 frost resist, and 490 defense. This is not an easy task, and I found myself having to get creative to keep my defense up. This meant regemming many of my lower level Kara items and blues to maximize defense. As I began this long process I came to realize that there were a few items that I had long ago disenchanted that would be perfect for this! There was the trinket from Shadow Labs, that belt from Moroes, and those boots from Chess that would have put me right where I needed to be with minimal effort. Of course I had stupidly decided that I would rather have a void crystal to sell than a “useless” piece of gear, so I went ahead and did what any good enchanter would do and sharded it all. Next thing I know, I need this gear again and I'm back in Kara rolling on loot! While getting this stuff is fun and exciting the first time around, the second time it turns into a real grind. There is nothing like keeping your fingers crossed that some loot will drop that you already won months ago! Lucky for me I have a great guild, that was very understanding in the matter, but still there was a lesson to be learned here. I think this may be a timely reminder with WotLK breathing down our necks. As we all hop on the first boats out to Northrend, I'm sure we will be seeing all sorts of new gear finding its way onto our toons. There is no doubt that we will eventually replace all we have, but take a second look before you get rid of anything for good. I know there are still vanilla WoW trinkets that are used in TBC end game, and I have no doubt there is a piece or two we have now that will have its situational use for a long time to come. Think twice about getting rid of your gear, particularly If you are a tank, but I imagine the same goes for others as well. You never know when the next fight, the next unexpected gear drop, or a creative application of an ability can change your whole set of priorities when it comes to important stats!
WoW Life Lesson #13: Gossip Is A Waste Of Time
"So I was listening to guild chat yesterday and you'll never guess what NoobLizard said. He was gettin all bent out of shape 'cuz Starfirezz said he sucked at holding aggro on Nightbane and that Starfirezz should be /gkicked for being disrespectful toward an officer but then Woodhealz said NoodLizard didn't know what the hell he was talking about 'cuz Starfirezz never said that and that Nooblizard was just didn't like Starfirezz because Starfirezz got that won that roll for that drop off Curator. Of course NoobLizard got pissed and /gquit but then Darklight invited him back after she promised that he could lead group A for Kara runs instead of group C with Starfirezz, but then Starfirezz logged in and heard the gchat and told Darklight that letting Nooblizard back in was bullshit and that NoobLizard should be booted for being an ass and pulling a powertrip tantrum and then Darklight said that... " Or something like that right? How many times have you popped on in gchat or vent and heard this sort of BS? Really. Is it worth the aggravation? Is it worth the time? No. Was it worth your time to read that paragraph above if that was the only thing on this post? Nope. Probably not. Gossip is a big waste of time. All I ever need to know is when's the raid, who is going and what gear I need to bring. Other than that, the gossip is just unnecessary. Oh sure some people will say that they are just telling the story of what happened and why and all that stuff, but the real story here is that the person telling gossip is not telling the gossip for information sake. Usually the person gossiping just wants to be the center of attention. You know it's the same in RL, gossip is a time waster, gets nothing accomplished except misinformation and is usually spread by someone who needs attention more than they need to maintain any sort of journalistic integrity. Besides, those who gossip rarely know the real facts and rarely keep their biases out of the story. So that's what's what about gossip. But... what did you hear? lol

Brewfest Draws Crowds To BRD Once More
The annual celebration of Oktoberfest began over the weekend. Brewfest, as it is known in Azeroth, is another fun filled seasonal celebration like the earlier Harvest Festival. Those of you that may have been disappointed by the lack of stuff to do at this year's Harvest Festival definitely need to check out Brewfest. The Brewfest offers much more than paying your respect. The latest seasonal even even gives players a reason to venture back to Black Rock Depths. Those of you who participated in the Brewfest last year likely have the old 2007 tickets. Fear not, for those tickets can be turned into the 2008 tokens via one of two NPCs, Belbi Quikswitch for the Alliance or Crest Blix Fixwidget for the Horde. Be aware though, this year's tokens are not savable for the 2009 Brewfest so use them all. For all of those out their who fancy Achievements, you should purchase the "Brew of the Month" Club Membership Form. By the time the form runs its course, you will unlock an achievement for the 2009 Brewfest. Probably the biggest change to the Brewfest this year is the removal of a purchasable item. Previously, players who saved up 600 tickets could purchase the Brewfest-exclusive mount, but that ability has been removed for the 2008 celebration. Players who wish to score the mounts will now have to return to Black Rock Depths with a daily quest called [Insult Coren Direbrew]. The drop percentage has been reported to be as low as 2-3% and as high as 15%, so good luck. Regardless, Direbrew has some pretty good loot – especially his trinkets - for characters that don't regularly run Karazhan or own Season 2 PvP gear or better. Direbrew has proven to be a fairly easy boss and very farmable. For starters, you need to complete [Welcome to Brewfest!] and then [Save Brewfest!] before you can get the daily. Once everyone has the daily quest, your group can summon him five times without having to switch up the line-up. Then, have someone switch to an alt with the quest or look around for a new player entirely. Naturally, having a Warlock around would make the whole process go faster. You only need to be level 65 to start the quest, although tanks and melee should be 70. Brewfest 2008 will end October 4. See you in BRD!
