Poll: How Should We Show Trash?

Project Lore Trash Mobs IntroWe've always been all about our community here at Project Lore, and we really want to get your input on our videos. Through our first eight episodes, we sped up the trash pulls in order to get you quick, short episodes with one boss per episode and one instance per week. This week, we changed it up a bit to show you a whole lot more of Utgarde Keep in the WotLK beta. You're getting one boss per week and all of the guys' interactions through the entire run. So, which do you guys enjoy more? Keep in mind that due to our production schedule we may not be able to completely use one way or the other, but we would love to get an idea of how you feel about it, so vote below! If you've got any extra comments, leave them on this post.

Only have the slowed down stuff for the beta so people not in the beta can see what those in the beta get to enjoy.

I'm no pro at the game, but your sped up movies of the trash in TBC instances does enough justice.

I tried this voting thing with four browsers:

Firefox 3, Opera 9.5, IE 8 and Google Chrome and none seemed to work.

Anyway, I love the real time stuff. I guess being in a social guild I enjoy your guys banter and such. You could always pick to show 1, 2 pulls of each trash mob and the speed through the similar onces.

I'd like to see a mix. When there's something interesting, helpful or just really entertaining, put it in real time. When it's just a series of monotonous trash kills where the guys aren't saying much, speed it up.

Slightly longer episodes wouldn't be a horrible thing either.

Agree showing wipes can sometimes be helpful. If showing a wipe can prove a point or demonstrate a common mistake, or situation that will often/usually end in wipes, leave it in. I think everyone knows that, in reality, you're all only human ;)

Like I once said: it would be an idea to go deeper into one trash mob pull per instance and speed up the rest....

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterNlin

ok i enjoy both. what i don;t enjoy is one pull per episode. why can't you guys make the video longer so we still see the boss in one episode. this epidode was a little slow one week for one boss and one pull per episode , make me think you wiped so many times or what?

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterseth

one more think the one boss per episode was perfect and i like both ways speed up the trash or not. but one boss in one episode, not one pull.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterseth

If you need to slow the speed to show unique mobs, then do so, but if you guys tank and spank, etc, then I would enjoy it sped up. One Boss per week takes a long time, maybe 2-3 bosses each week would be more fitting. I enjoy the regular formula of one boss per episode, but some fans may need a bit of a compromise. - Kelvin Tso

Defo show us the new people and the pulls, BUT speed up the fight itself.

Just remeber to show events, like the houndmaster on ramparts calling for aid.

Speaking personally, I'd like to see much more real time action. Given that an instance takes about 90 minutes (or less) excluding wipes, that breaks down to about 18 minutes per episode (assuming one instance per week). Add a few minutes for review of tactics, hints and tips, throw in some cunning editing (to remove repetitive stuff like eating, mana breaks etc) and you're up to about 25 minutes. Given that you're only going to "film" each instance once I feel that it's worth the investment and I'd certainly watch, and gain, from this format. They are, after all, an amazing reference tool.

Whilst I am here, kudos to the whole team (presenters and production) for having the vision, the will and the skillsets to do this.

Have you ever given thought to having guest toons appear?

I think the spedd-up version is better for hte instances we already know about. But for WOTLK and all the new content i think u guys should keep it slowed to show and tell us about all the new stuff. Once the expansion comes out though maybe you guys should speed it back up. Im not entirley sure though, u guys are hilarious during trash so if u speed up we cant hear it all.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGrayson

For those that have seen this stuff for themselves, I guess the speeded up is better (although I personally love watching others play in RT) but for those wishing to learn, showing the trash is probably more benaficial as there are already a ton of Boss strat sites out there, but none dealing with the proper care of trash.

For me, I guess the answer would be to have longer shows with everything in real time, then I could skip ahead if I wanted to. However, I guess you guys have a life outside of PL and WoW so thats just wishfull thinking on my part. Seems like PL should have come out about a year or so ago, then everyone would have wanted this in RT. We'll just see how you deal with Wrath instances as you'l be as new to it as us :P Whatever the case, just keep it up :)

Why are "real time" votes winning :S
if you want to watch hour long videos, do so, but please not here.

i voted speed it up, much like your doing now. however, maybe a slow mo when you habe your notices on the video "hug the wall here" and slow it down to real speed to help people. i mean after all, thats your aim, a real clear video guide.

Also, i'd like to see you do a slowmotion reply if one of you (eg shnoobins) hits 6.6k on trash with his pom pyro, or if another member hits near thier max hit. nothing beats showing some imba numbers :p

I would agree with most people on here. I think you should speed up the trash pulls until there is something tricky or something that has not been seen. Once you've gone through that, speed it up again until the boss.

That being said, I am loving the WotLK episodes. I know it's taking a little longer for the instance as you guys are only doing a few pulls per episode but you're going through the talents and discovering different things (ie the buffs you get from professions) which is making it really interesting for me. You're giving everyone who has not received a beta key a chance to get to know more about the game prior to launch. Heck, you're teaching me stuff about the beta I didn't know and I'm currently in it.

I would just like to add that you guys are doing an awesome job. I look forward to your episodes every week. Thanks for the great work!

Trash is Trash... if you haven't leveled up yet, you will find out what trash is. If you are lvl 70, you know exactly what alliance, er.... trash is.

Speed it up

Wow I am amazed at the number of comments so far. The Guys where very entertaining during the WotLK instance during the trash mobs. Of course not every instance is this exciting. So maybe a mix would be great just for variety and entertainment value. I understand the point to these epsiodes is to teach the lore of WOW and help you get to the end of the instance with little to no wipes. I think Project Lore has done very well so far.

I've been a fan of project lore since the begining, but this past week was really the first week that I watched everything.

You have an awesome cast of hilarious guys and it's nice for them to get to joke around while still getting the information out there.

Let's keep things informative but always fun! I love seeing more of them just playing :]

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAlly

This past week, I've greatly enjoyed watching how you guys interact while running. It's fun, all around, and makes the episode that much more interesting. It's ENGAGING.

I think, like most of the posteres above, that a mix would be the best choice. Let us watch the fun(ny) moments, the more difficult pulls, the fancy manuevers, but for the monotonous stuff, feel free to speed it up.

Keep up the good work guys! ^-^

Show the important trash pulls, you don't need to slow it down for all the trash because if it's the same trash then there won't be any need to show it twice very slow.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKevin

I say real time for most part. There just some pulls/rooms that could be more useful shown in depth. Now if its a bunch of same easy pulls back to back, speed up those areas.

Also depends if you guys talking much or not. The input and reactions is helpful and amusing.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRyusama

General trash, show it once in real time, then speed it up past more of the same.

But there sometimes are "trash" pulls that are very difficult and often require some significant strats. Show the harder trash pulls. (Like running the gauntlet in SH)

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterWookieeB

Show it in real time! When you run heroics in 99% cases trash mobs are way harder than boss. Also wotlk is something new to us and i wouldnt like to miss a thing by speeding it up :) keep it up i luv ya guys

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEiphi

I was thinking something like half and half? I REALLY love it done in real time action but sometimes its just a bit tooo slow. Maybe you could speed up some bits and show maybe the slightly more interesting parts in real time. Like 2 bosses/week?
If I had to chose between one or the other, I'd say real time.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterArggg

I'd agree with josh, speed it up unless it's tricky, or the guys have something of interest to say.

September 15, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBlank

I went with "either way works". My reason for that is the fact that Burning Crusade has been around for over a year and a half, so most people should already have an idea as what expect. If not, there's already tons of posts that detail the Outland instances.

Wrath of the Lich King, however, is new content. So in this case, we don't have the benefit of having turned every instance inside and out like we have done with BC. One should also take into account that this time around, Blizzard changed how they do beta-testing. That basically means we don't have a bunch of people running around in the beta to give information to the rest us who weren't as lucky. (And given how WotLK has been released yet, there's still many changes that could made to it.)

[Before someone jumps on me...]

Correction -- (And given how WotLK hasn't been released yet, there’s still many changes that could be made to it.)
