Poll: How Should We Show Trash?

Project Lore Trash Mobs IntroWe've always been all about our community here at Project Lore, and we really want to get your input on our videos. Through our first eight episodes, we sped up the trash pulls in order to get you quick, short episodes with one boss per episode and one instance per week. This week, we changed it up a bit to show you a whole lot more of Utgarde Keep in the WotLK beta. You're getting one boss per week and all of the guys' interactions through the entire run. So, which do you guys enjoy more? Keep in mind that due to our production schedule we may not be able to completely use one way or the other, but we would love to get an idea of how you feel about it, so vote below! If you've got any extra comments, leave them on this post.

Personally I watch Project Lore in order to understand WOW better, granted i don't PLAY WOW yet but when i start I feel like i'm going to be going in the right direction of character development in order to be a good player/party member.

I have a general understanding of how to handle mobs with choose Classes IE Warriors = Tank em; Mages = Sheep and burn/freeze em. Hunters = make Jimmy do it....etc etc. But going through the motions never hurt anyone. So id like to see it in real time. I realize this pretty much means that you have to make longer eps to handle the mobs but in the end i think everyone would appreciate it more.

I think a little bit of both is best. During the trash you guys can be quite entertaining, something I really enjoyed in last weeks episodes. As long as you guys have something entertaining to keep talking about, I say stick with the new model and see what happens!

I think you should speed it up unless it is a trash pull you deem "tricky" then explain that pull to us so it will be easier for us to do it. That I think would be the best way.

I would agree with Josh. Show the 4 or 5 man groups of trash mobs in real time, so those of us unfamiliar with the instance can get a feel for what the trickier pulls are like. I mainly watch PJ for the BC instances that I haven't seen, as these videos help immensely as I go through the 60s. Don't get my wrong, I am also a fan of the humor. Goggins is by far the funniest cat on the show. No offense to the others :)

Agree

I feel as in the beta it works right now to show real time trash mobs. But, this is mostly only true because it is a beta.
On normal instances in a game that everyone can enter, there is no reason to show the same fight 7 times before a change, boss fight. If you show the first pull then speed everything up, you get the idea, the movement through the trash is the only thing you need to show after the fact. Which people can pick up on with the speed up video.

I am liking the real time trash mob thing you are doing with the WotLK beta vids. I think it is more enjoyable to watch.

My vote: look for opportunities to experiment (try alternate strategies, etc.) or, as said above, opportunities to show "tricky" situations - and ALWAYS show the wipes, it will mitigate the Faux Uber L33tag3 you have going - and fast forward the rest.

Hmm.. I was thinking that you should show the wipes as well.

One can learn more from failure then success, assuming the failure doesn't kill you.

I agree with the above people... When it's the same basic pulls four or five times in a row, speed it up. But if there's something unique or difficult about them, then show it. And I agree, ALWAYS show the wipes. You (us) learn more when things go bad then from an easy looking fight. Like with the Beta Boss... that was a great wipe, it showed what to do and what not to do when fighting him, more than if Alex had explained the strat before hand then seeing a flawless execution (IMO). You learn from your mistakes.

I agree with the above posters. Speed up the redundant stuff, but some trash mobs are less trashy than others.

Speed up the trash but show tricky pulls and poi. :]

September 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris

As above, skip redundancies, but show us different tactics, tricky pulls, and experimentation. Also, I agree that seeing the wipes is a good thing; it shows us what can go wrong and what to expect.

One other note: a particular reason that I'm enjoying the Beta eps is because you guys don't always know what to do/expect. This is really fascinating for me, because it shows group dynamics and how you guys deal with unknowns. Needless to say, you can't show these situations with TBC content b/c you've run it so many times, but as more WotLK content becomes available, I sincerely hope you will allow us to watch you guys go through the attempt/fail/refine process. Thanks, and keep up the great work.

i personally like to see the interaction between you guys when in real time, so I vote real time.

Either way works, I like how its fast because I can watch it and play wow, but sometimes I would like to beable to watch it all.

I think you should run it the same way as you do with your normal shows, but broadcast your taping live online, like TWiT, or something. That would be fun to tune into. It gives the folks who want to see more in depth that chance. It also gives us a chance to see how much you wipe! :-D

I agree with most the people about keeping trash sped up except for tricky pulls, and showing wipes.

Keep up the good work guys!

I look for ward to more.

I think you should keep it real like like the beta videos. It is much more interesting to watch and it definitely gives me something more to watch during down time.

September 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPeakay

i like wotlk beta ones cause you get to talk bout the mobs ans see how you do it keep it up guys.

September 14, 2008 | Unregistered Commentergimith

yea showing once how to down the tricky mobs, or even showing us what you believe to be the best way for mobs, then in order to stop any repetition, speed up the stuff we've seen already. love the longer episodes, but i dont need a reason to put me to sleep to see what i just saw before, of course unless something really funny happens.

September 14, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpeyton

i believe there are times for speeding up the trash and slowing it down. i rekon that maybe for tricky pulls that require well timed range shots and los pulling that you slow it down and explain quickly what your going to do. but really I don't want be spending 1 week watching you own trash that is easily done in 1/5 the time by just pulling and doing it.i mean seriously took you a week to kill one boss? No i think it took maybe an hour so hence either increase the time of shows to incorporate one boss per time with slow speed or how bout, speeding up trash [explain different pulls once its all we need] and then carry on. Your old way of messages appearing i think is still the best though, cause really trash is almost always the same just with different mobs or maybe one trick to watch out for and at those points slow time down and explain.

I would like to see the trash mob pulling and strat in real time...personally. One can always just by pass the parts they don't want to watch.

Utgarde Keep and the heroic level 70 is completely different. I LOVE watching you guys do utgarde keep without the speed up, but when it comes to level 70 stuff, speeding it up is definatly the wisest choice. BUT is there any way that you guys could possibly have one big episode per week with the whole thing in it? i think that would be even better but its up to you guys. Either way i love the show and cant wait to see more beta content!

September 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDerek

I think you should show for each kind of monster in the ins,how to handle it and then every time theres is this type of monster(like idk sporebat lol) you just speed it up.
In short, show first time for each monster and then speed up other encounters with the same monster.
