Patch 3.2: Call of the Crusade Announced

What, No Official Trailer? What, No Official Trailer?

Wow, Blizzard's holiday announcement was certainly unexpected.  The company began discussing the intimate details of Patch v3.2 starting with its official title, Call of the Crusade.  Previously, we were enlightened to some of CotC's updates thanks to various forum revelations, like the new battleground and Argent Tournament updates.  Now we have some additional juicy details to salivate over.

As the title suggests, Patch v3.2 will bring us one step closer to the upcoming battle with Arthas.  In preparation, the Argent Crusade will drastically expand their operations in the area thanks to all the resources we have happily donated.  Those of you who are, like me, a bit bored of the Argent Tournament will be happy to know that the Crusade will unleash a collection of "new dailies, rewards, and more" in an attempt to lure us into the soon-to-be-erected coliseum.  The Crusade's new digs is no joke, it'll contain not only a 5-player challenges, but 10- and 25-player ones as well.  It is unknown what these tasks will be, PvP, PvE or some combination thereof.

For the PvPers out there, not me, you've got two things coming your way.  Amazingly, the start of Season 7 at the outset of Patch v3.2 probably isn't the most exciting bit of news.  Nope, that would belong to the Isle of Conquest announcement, a new "large-scale siege Battleground."  According to Zarhym, the Isle will be a battle over resources that plays out in the style of “Wintergrasp combined with Alterac Valley.“   I absolutely loved the age old Alterac Valley - not the original, original incarnation, but the tweaked vanilla WoW version - and combining it with the best aspects of open world PvP makes this rogue sharpen his pokers and "practice my stabbing".

Best of all, it appears that Blizzard has gotten ahold of their patch development cycles, because this patch is expected in a more timely manner.  When chastised by a player who didn't expect the patch before the end of the year the disembodied skull of Zarhym stated that his "presumed time lines are way too inflated? :)"  Of course he could have been referring to when we will see Icecrown Citadel...that wouldn't be bad either.

New solo content, check.  New PvP content, check.  New PvE content - probably part of the Coliseum updates - check.  So ladies and gentlemen, let the thoughts, impressions, QQing and sequels of excitement begin!

Looking foward the lore of the new quests! But the amazing thing this patch will bring us is, for sure, the BG...a new BG may take out some lag out of WG! This will be awesome!

Soooooooooooooo pumped for this. Just when I thought that patch 3.1 would be it for a while.... BAM! Huge fan of tournament, so that would be a big plus in gold and rep (even though I'm already exalted with all horse factions). Can't wait!

hopefully a few will see this and respond.

was the new Strand of the Anchients BG not that exciting for the PvPers? I rather enjoyed it and liked that no matter what it only lasted 20 to 22 minutes tops if you include the 1 minute wait and switch times.

I know WG is more popular (although confusing as hell with WsG when people forget the 's' for groups). I was just suprised that another new BG is coming and not a whole lot seems to be mentioned the current new one.

would like to hear some feedback.

Thanks!

I called the new instance/raid on the forums. I thought it would be pretty awesome to have an instanced area that was like the Amphitheater of Anguish for a raid, sort of a PvE Arena if you will. One boss right after another at random (so yes sort of like VH but not quite like it as it will probably have some twists and turns along with it). I'd liken it to the battle square in Final Fantasy 7 with multiple people taking out a raid boss and you get tokens for items or enchants or whatever. They will be adding new rewards as Zarhym posted I believe, but what exactly we aren't sure yet. I'm excited to see what it turns out as and it will be my first stop when 3.2 hits.

Well i am for sure looking forward to this patch, i have not really taken part in the argent tournament, but i will be from now on. As probably only champions will be able to enter the instance..or maybe not who knows.

Yeah the instance will be like Amphitheater of Anguish and Ring of Blood, but more epic. this was stated by a blizzard poster on the forums.
But the BG is what i am looking forward to the most.

And @ cocopuff, Alliance do win in BGs LOL. So sick of people saying horde win everything, its simple tactics that win, like alot of alliance people forget to actually press m for map in AB, to see where there teammates are. And in SOTA, DONT TAKE THE SOUTHERN GY, OTHERWISE HORDES CAN GANK YOU TILL THE ROUNDS OVER. So many times alliance have done this, but horde not very often, which makes me think horde are more stable minded when it comes to a bg, and know that it isnt all about killing as many ppl as you can. Tactics win in all of the BGs.

Anyways sorry for my long rant. But upcoming patch looks cool, wonder what bosses we will encounter there? Hmmm

Hey, don't forget the upcoming new Druid cat and bear forms that are expected to be in 3.2

That PTR needs to go live, nao!

@onthebuses

My battlground group, Shadowburn, don't understand the concept of tactics. While I'm actually trying to play in the bg, almost everyone else always just zergs... and zergs...

It makes it one of those days where I wonder if I just could magically transform myself into an Alliance toon. :|

I love the Argent Tournament, but I'm really sad that its going to be tuned for 5, 10 and 25 man events. Part of the reason I really enjoy the tournament is the amount of enjoyable soloing you can do. Its a great idea, I'm just not exactly ready to jump into that, mainly because getting into and other 10 or 25 is a pain the neck and I HEAL!

As for the new BG, bring it on! I've been waiting on a new BG. My one regret is that with all of the great game mechanics that we now have from WotLK, i'm disappointed Azshara Crater was never finished. But from what I read, we technically have it with Wintergrasp.... only with one base instead of two.

S7.. not surprised. Thats how content patches roll out. New patch, new season. Can't wait to see what kind of boss gets added to VoA though.

I'm realllly excited for the new Druid form model changes. Though I'd love a little something for trees and moonkin... or an improvement to tauren cat form...

@ Kevin

Don't you mean the 4-5 day AV? ;)

May 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAlex

I think the new coliseum event will be like Ring of Blood/ Amphitheater of Anguish but on mounts. I'm guessing each mount will have a role (eg. Kodo=Tank mount) but i think it will end up like the current state of the argent tournament where ppl just farm dailies. Lets hope if there are any bosses they drop some sweet loot. :)

I hope that new bg is gona be like vanilla AV, that was the time :)

Known about this for some time, but seriously AWSOME! 1 lil thing though: You know how each specific City Faction ha stheir own unique title? You see the Ebon Blad etent over there, as well as the Argent Crusade Tent?

Think we could see an title, for all of us Death Knights (God forbid other classes using the title: ugh!) or maybe for Paladins?
