Who Are You Getting To Level 80?

Decisions, Decisions...My fellow blogger Bastosa recently posted a nice article on the grind to level 80. It will be interesting to see how well the 5-man instancing team sticks together. From my previous experiences, running with a group of friends over and over caused us to become a bit competitive.   One evening, we called it a night after a few productive hours of grinding XP.   Well, we woke up to see that our Mage had stayed up all night to get three levels higher.  It wouldn't have been the end of the world if he wasn't six levels higher than the lowest person, and refused to come back and help us. The Mage's overly competitive nature basically killed our group.

Bastosa's logic – that a group leveling together in instances should create skilled raiders down the road - is sound nonetheless and I hope it works out for them. For me, I will be going the same route as a few of the commentators, questing and exploration. Here is the major difference though, I will be leveling my newly acquired level 59.99 Priest instead of my faithful Rogue.

Thanks to the Refer-A-Friend benefits, my buddy and I managed to level up a new set of alts to level 59.99 in under three days playtime. For the moment, we are both enjoying our never-before-played class and do not feel like stopping. By the time Wrath of the Lich King drops on November 13th, my new Priest should be 70.  At that time I hope to have enough experience under my belt as a healer – yes, also my first healbot - to begin healing in all of the new 5-man instances. Heck, if all goes well and I ding 70 with time to spare, I will probably start a tank on that server.  People always need a tank.  We have to burn those extras hand me down levels somehow.

This isn't to say that I am abandoning my Rogue. I have been roguing since day 1 and have no intention of stopping. Yes, there have been ups and down through that time. Rogues were overpowered to begin with, causing us to be nerfed left and right. C'Thun was incredibly annoying as a dagger Rogue.  Gruul is just annoying, and I still have little group utility (that will change with the Echoes of Doom patch). It would be nice to say that I will try to co-level the characters on my main server.  Trading back and forth to get the most benefit from Rested XP, but honestly, that is just a pipe dream.

So what about you guys? Sticking with your main? Taking this opportunity to switch your main? Re-rolling Death Knight?  Or experiencing the new content with an alt first?

Bastosa, best of luck to you and your group. Be sure to update us when you ding level 75. I can't wait to do the Heigan dance again – the pull to him...not so much.

Im going to lv my 3 70 (a Gnome Rogue Dwarf Warrior and a Undead Mage) first than i will hit up the new Death Knight class. I really not going to put to much time into my main Rogue at the start because i like to wait for all the nerfing and rogue hating to stop. Stuff like Ambush needs to be nerfed or something like that as im sure is going to happen. With the new Shadow dance and Killing Spree rogues will be OP

My main Ally Rogue (Galdriel in Doomhammer) and my main Horde Warrior (Deathhell in Deathwing). Latter on i'll try (maybe) Death Knight or lvl up horde mage.

My lvl 64 shadow priest. In the beta they have been nerfed a bit DPS wise and they are no longer the only Mana battery, but I love playing the SP over my lvl 70 holy any day.

I'm pretty sure I'll roll my DK, probably play him a bit, but mostly I'm going to play my Dwarf Paladin. There's a lot of love built up there. I may well level my Blood Elf Paladin to 80 as well before I really get into a DK.

Yes. I have both. Sue me, I like Paladins.

I don't have any other toons in Lich King range. Anyone else will have to come later.

Thanks for the commentary! Your point is well taken, and probably my #1 concern. People leveling on the side and outleveling the rest of the group could provide some major complications.

This happened to me to a lesser extent when leveling to 70. I had a 3-man team that quested together. Eventually the hunter in our group began to out-level the other two. Fortunately for us he was nice enough to always come back and even request to help us along!

I'll be sure to update you as to how my plan goes. For me I know I will be leveling my Paladin first, he is, and I believe will always be my main. The rogue will be the second one to 80 then I will have to decide if I want to go Death Knight or Druid.

Gonna level my huntard through questing and some 5-man content, but my Prot Warrior will be leveled almost exclusively through 5-man and raids. My sord rouge may get left behind for a while while I bring up the CoH Priest and roll a DK.

Can't wait, 6 weeks to go!!!

I think I will level my enhancement orc shaman first to 80, then probably roll a DK and try to simultaneously level him and my hunter. Eventually I will get around to my mage and warrior, but they are lower priorities :)

When WoW first came out I made a Paladin because I loved the Idea and lore behind Paladins from Warcraft 3. Giant hammer wielding, holy light throwing and general ass kicking. But like so many days the sun set on my dream of kicking asses when I was forced to heal in the back of raids through the entire duration of Vanilla WoW.

I still had fun and I even got Sulfuras Hand of Ragnaros (which is still one of the best looking weapons in game) to do some damage outside of raids. Back then you could pwn inside and outside of raids with paladins because Holy shock sucked and a holy/ret build was very feasible.

Come TBC I switched to a Shaman(dreanei) because my guild needed it. The guild fell apart and so did my raiding. Until a few months ago that is.

Level a Spriest and raided the crap out of everything. With WotLK making Ret Paladins a viable spec inside and outside of raiding, I can hear the drums of war from inside my heart beating my adrenalin to the point of vicious and righteous SLAUGHTER!

You might say that because I take pleasure in murdering thousands in the name of something called "the light" might make me a psycho. And you'd be absolutely correct.

My main has been from day one a Feral Druid, until i got to raiding and decided to give up tanking and respec'd Resto... but i decided that i'd like to be able to be taken along to a raid as DPS so i re-rolled a Warlock recently and been gearing that up now that its lvl 70 for quicker leveling upon release of LK.

My plan is to level my warlock first and start raiding as dps, then to respec my druid Feral and again work my way towards lvl 80, upon which respec to resto again and heal in raids and once those 2 are at a suitable stage im going to spec a DK and level him up to be my Tanking alt, so that when the time comes i'll never be more then 1 relog away from whatever class is needed in said raid.

I'm leveling an Alt. Shaman, as healer later on at 80, my Main is a rogue. And when lich comes I will level it first, then Shaman, THEN a death knight. Because it will be DK's everywhere when lich comes.

October 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHumogil

I'm going to level my main, a Troll Shaman (shammys ftw!), to 80 first and then my alt, an Undead Rogue, and then my other alt, a Blood Elf Paladin, before making my Death Knight (Blood spec of course) and getting him to 80.

great post, think i'll be leveling my alt mage who level 40ish to 70 while i have the chance to and forgeting about my warrior for a while as prot warriors are common as flies on my server and its irritating how little gear drops we get, with DK's coming i bet it gets even worse too.
who knows though by the time wotlk is out i may not have got the mage to 70 or may just have got sick of it

DK's dont look like an attractive class to me, will at some point try it but another melee class probably isnt for me.
and there going to be a dime a dozen i think

I will me leveling my main Gnome mage, and then probably on my death knight, and afetr tht my undead warlock tht i hope to have at 65ish by wotlk.
Got a shadow priest, rogue and druid all wating in line as well

My original plan was
-level my gnome mage to 70
-get my epic flyers
-level up other alts

dude to some rl stuff, my mage won't be 70 by then so my new plan is to just farm gold on my main holy pally, get him to 80 with LK and we'll see what happens from there.

haha

Id probabbly lvl up my 70 hunter to 80 as fast as i can, love to have a devilsuar pet! Ill probabbly just wait a while to try a Death Knight because when WOTLK comes out, a good amount of people are gonna be makeing Death Knights and it will be a bit to crowded.

For the grind to level 80, I'm looking at my main -- my username has her link -- and my level 67 hunter alt. I plan on reaching lvl. 74 before going back and leveling up my 23 shadow priest and 21 fury warrior. I'm not even looking at doing the death knight class because a) I'm stretched all over the place whatwith having only one breadwinner, and b) I don't have the advantage of power leveling since I share a WoW account with my twin.

I think I feel my stress level beginning to rise already... :HALUC:

October 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAlayea

My Nightelf Hunter who is on the verge of reaching 70. ::mutters about reaching 70 just in time to start grinding all over ::

October 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTreborSL

My lvl 70 Belf rogue is first. I just want to gank alot of the new wrath players while I lvl as well. Rogue = <3

Then my 70 human pally. The ret spec is supposed to get a boost so that should be interesting. Though hes gunna get some rest while i reach that 80 mark and get some good gear.

October 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRed

My main is my pally Eventime on Hydraxis who I'm definitely gonna get to 80. Whether I keep him ret or change him to prot I'm not sure, because at some point I wanna make a DK and see what it's like. Also I've been leveling a shaman alt which is 46 right now, and I'd like to have him at least ready for Outlands by the time Lich King comes out. He'll be my healer, then pally and DK will be dps/tank, but not sure which will be which yet.
