BlizzCon 2009: What's Up, Worgen?

The newest addition to the Alliance is indeed the Worgen.
The kingdom of Gilneas assisted the Alliance during the Second War. However, going into the Third War, Gilneas realized that there was little the Alliance to provide to them, and they were just fine governing themselves behind the impenetrable Greymane Wall.
The curse of the Worgen began to spread, perhaps because of the Scythe of Elune. Regardless, Archmage Arugal of Dalaran became fascinated with these creatures and retreated into Shadowfang Keep to study them. They were great weapons for him in fighting back the Scourge during the Third War. The curse of the Worgen, however, is infectious, and it quickly spread and reached the nearby kingdom of Gilneas. The Gilneans, being confined to their kingdom, quickly fell to the curse. Civil war broke out, and their kingdom became ravaged.
The Gilneans have managed to control their curse somewhat and seem to able to transform between Worgen and Human forms. The Cataclysm has been disastrous to them, and the Greymane Wall has been destroyed. Gilneas shares a border only with Silverpine Forest, which controlled by the Forsaken. The Forsaken push southward into their kingdom, and the night elves came to their rescue, perhaps with a sense of responsibly regarding the Scythe of Elune. Now, the Worgen fight along side the Alliance. The exact story behind the Scythe and the Worgen's origins remain unclear, but I'm sure the story behind the Worgen's origins will slowly be uncovered.
The worgen racials include +1% damage, 70% run speed for 10 seconds, duration of curses and diseases reduced by 15%, and skinning skill increased by 15. They also don't need a skinning knife!
Worgen can play as Death Knights (likely starting in Ebon Hold, and likely the coolest thing ever to grace WoW), Druids, Hunters, Mages, Priests, Rogues, Warlocks, and Warriors.

sweet!
Amazing!!!
is it just me or the only race not geting a new class in draenei? ill be sure to play worgen in about a year or 2 when it comes out
Haha. Worgen death knights. I'm more than likely gonna do mine a rogue or a lock :D. No details in their mount yet though. :/
Worgen Death Knights, eh?
...
Time to grind for Hierlooms
OMG this looks epic, screw the rouge im lvling when this comes out, im playing worgan forever!!!!
Maybe they should do what they originally did with Tauren, give them a racial ability at level 20 (mount level) and just have them run on all fours, I believe the tauren ability was called Stampede, maybe theirs could be something along the lines of...Night run or something Worgen oriented.
my choice
@Drenton
Yeah, would be good, the tauren one was Plainsrunning i think? Was removed because after X amount of time the mount speed would engage, and the Tauren could rocket into mobs and aggro, who knows, maybe?
i am definetly (sorry if my english is dead) make a worgen...much better than goblin!
P.S. screw human transforming! worgen ftw xD
@LolConnor
Let's hope by five years they have a better system, and this expansion seems more "off" then the other. Goblins ride cars, Worgen really can't ride a Worg, that's like a gnome riding a human XP.
Worgen druids? Why would you wanna shape shift into something else? =P
Still, I really want to roll a worgen, just not sure which class. I would've really liked to go shaman, but I might go warrior since it's not an option. I'm used to ranged classes, and don't want to make 2 of one class particularly (no matter how cool worgen hunter is). Besides, the world is in need of tanks, so I guess I could step up to fill one of those rolls.
On the mount situation. I really doubt this will be released, but it would be cool if the mount was in fact them running on all fours, so they transform into a 'travel-form', and then alliance can be given a dose of the controllable curse, to transform at their own will also. Not sure how much sense having different purchasable colours would be though and why they would need training then an extra dose of cursage to be able to do, but still.
Damn i think i have to remove my gnome dk and lock to make 2 worgens when i get this or just make a worgen in any class
>< I might have to go to Alliance for this...
Switch to Alliance* :x whoops
What about worgen's racial ability??
@Trian
Posted by Heartbourne: 5:03: Worgen Racials: +15 Skinning, no knife required, 15% less time on curses and disease. Worgen form is cosmetic only, can shift at will. Can stay as human if you want.
Goblin racials are so OP compared to these. +15 Skinning? You don't need +15 for any gathering profession (just go Skin/Mine/Flower-pick fifteen more times), and what if you don't want to take Skinning?
I'll be deleting my 20something NE Druid that I haven't played for years for one of these (also a druid) anyway.
Updating this is the racials I forgot to add earlier...
dang man, i'm sooooo gonna role this bad boy! I'm gonna have to switch horde<alliance xD sorry horde but worgen is too cool. Goblin, pfft, another gnome.
how does a worgen druid go into cat for when its a dog?
what about their mount ?
Thx Drenton and Heartbourne :]
that worgen is awsome. i think it should have every class because it is so pro looking and it will be the same playing it
Finaly!
I'll now be able to play an Alliance druid lol
Love worgen! Just so badass, especialy a rogue worgen :)
