Patch 3.1 May Delay Noblegarden and Its Achievements
Most people know by now that I love Achievements. I also love world events. Adding new and interesting things to do during world events and tying them to achievements sounds just great to me. Initially when I saw that Patch 3.1 would add achievements to Noblegarden, I thought that must mean 3.1 will come out before the event, which is currently scheduled for April 12-18. Makes sense right? Well, I was wrong. Kisirani has let us know via blue post that the developers' plan is to simply delay Noblegarden should 3.1 not be ready before then. That makes more sense. What has me excited, though, is that after the patch, Noblegarden will be a true world event, Blizzard style. Looking at the list of Noblegarden Achievments and seeing a hint that egg hunting will be "a wee bit different this year," the event seems like it is going to have much more interactivity than in previous years. Before, players would have to find eggs hidden in the starting areas in hopes of finding a dress. Not a great reward, but something that is good for collectors and roleplayers. According to the achivement list, this year's Noble Gardeners are going to hide eggs, place rabbit ears, plant flowers, find love, and of course eat chocolates as part of the event. As the meta-achievement for Noblegarden is going to be part of the meta-meta-achivement, What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been that rewards a 310% speed Violet Proto-Drake, I'll be ready to hunt down eggs all week long, whenever 3.1 comes out.
WoW Life Lesson #18 - You Can Go Your Own Way
Have you ever been in a group or pug that you thought was going in one direction and went the complete opposite? I mean, you thought you were going to do The Violet Hold so you could finally get the chance to complete Lockdown to get one step closer to your new Red Proto-Drake, but 10 minutes into summoning they decide that Utgarde Keep is easier to do for badges because the tank isn't defense capped just yet. This sort of indecision, lack of focus and disregard to certain members almost guarantees that I will leave the group immediately and go do dailies. And I have found out that doing just that is perfectly fine no matter what anyone one spams at you in chat. Let's face it, in WoW there are a few people, regardless of actual age, that are... well.. how should I say this... big cry babies who piss and moan when they do not get their way. That's fine by me. They can go their own way and I can go mine. I truly do not care if someone spams me that I am a traitor for leaving a pug or that I was now put on some list by them because I didn't finish a Heroic when everyone in that pug knew the tank couldn't hold aggro in a two-ton bucket. That is what /ignore is for. And the same thing goes for some guilds I have been in. Years ago, I was in a guild that felt that every member had to help every other member, not on a voluntary basis or when available, but right now, no matter what it was that had to be done by whichever member. Around the same time, I saw a guild advertising on their web site that in order to move up the ranks, you had to drop whatever your were doing at a moments notice while soloing to come the the aid of a guildie even if it was just the GM's lowbie alt that couldn't down Hogger. Now for some that is fine, and if that's you or someone you know or even if that's your guild now, great. You go your way I'll go mine. I have no animosity toward you not should you have any against me. It's just what you do or want me to do is not something I want to do or a way that I want to play. Everyone has a right to play the game how that want in the way they want at whatever time or frequency that they want. As for me, I will go my own way, and as far as being in a guild, if that includes hanging out with mature respectful people taking down end-game content on a daily basis, I'm in. And as you probably guessed, in RL you can go your own way too. If you want to be a florist, flautist, or philanthropist, be me guest. Better yet, be your own guest. It is your life - don't make a pug out of it. Go your own way and find people who are cool and hang with them. And always, /ignore those QQ peeps who want to pee on your parade. What do they know? So if you've ever gone your own way and it worked out better than you ever imagined, let us know. Your story can help others, and maybe you'll help give someone the confidence to go their own way. Thanks and have fun.
No Black or Plagued Proto-Drake Rewards in 3.1
Bornakk, blue poster on the official forums, broke the news today that the Glory of the Raider and Heroic Glory of the Raider meta-achievements are going to have their mount rewards removed upon the implementation of Patch 3.1. While the achievements themselves will still be... achieveable, there is no longer a 310% mount rewarded for completing all of the requirements. Of course, players who have already obtained the mounts will keep them. This change will keep the extremely fast mounts limited to those who are either extremely lucky or have the dedication to complete the most difficult challenges that Blizzard sets forth to players at their intended difficulty level. The proto-drakes will be proof that a player was able to complete the achievements without having to get gear from higher tiered raids. It is bad news for players who are more casual WoW players, but makes a lot of sense. It also falls in line with the removal of the Amani War Bear reward from the timed event in Zul'Aman when patch 3.0 went live. Patch 3.0 made many changes to player abilities and lowered the health and damage of level 70 raid bosses, making completion of the event much easier. The silver lining is that MMO-Champion has uncovered a couple of new Proto-Drakes, Ironbound and Rusted that will be added in 3.1 and in my opinion look even cooler than the Black and Plagued ones. They will probably serve the same purpose, only for Ulduar Achievements. What are your thoughts? I for one am in favor of this change. Now I just need to finish off those 10 man achievements!
MMO-Champion Posts Screenshots Of Wrath Mounts
Ugg, maintenance day. What a waste of perfectly good play time Tuesday mornings are. Doesn't Blizzard know that the morning is when I do my Auction House browsing and such. Anyways, since there isn't much going on in the game right now I figured I could hit you guys with an update on Wrath of the Lich King and the load of mounts that are being added with its launch. MMO-Champion has a screenshot for all but one of the mounts, so its best you head to their post if you want to see more. At the moment there are 32 new mounts by my count, a few of which we have known about for some time. However, 32 is a bit of an inflated number since many of the mounts are simply different colors of each other. Currently, there are actually only eight drastically different models split up into seven categories. Category and model breakdown:
- Others – Windrider and Gryphon
- Bears – Four Assorted Bears
- Mammoths – Eight Assorted Mammoths
- Proto-Drakes – Seven Assorted Proto-Drakes
- Drakes – Seven Assorted Drakes
- Tailoring – Two Magnificent Flying Carpets
- Engineering – Two Hogs
