Who Is SaintGermain?

Ahh... so you're probably wondering who I am. You don't see me in the episode. You can't find me in The Totally Rad Guild. You won't even find me on the Executus server. So why am I here? I'm here because I'm the one behind the scenes that makes sure you get to see the guys take on new instances every week. If Juggynaut is the 'Charlie' to the guys in the room, then I'm sort of the Charlie's Charlie I guess. Either way, and for whatever reason, I'm here. And as an avid WoW player, I have something to say about WoW. Lots to say actually. So stay tuned my fine internet friends as I will in the coming weeks regale you with knowledge near and far of WoW, life and your place in this crazy mixed-up place called Project Lore. Rest assured that it will be fun. And if you have any questions - real questions about the game or life, not just lame questions like 'how do you make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich' - then feel free to email me at saintgermain@projetlore.com I have loads of stuff to do here at Project Lore, but if I get the time, and I am so inclined, I'll do my best to blog an answer to your question. Thanks for playin and have fun. Saint

60-70 Grind To Be Shorter In WotLK

So Tigole, aka Jeff Kaplan, confirmed on the official Blizzard forums that leveling from 60-70 is going to be faster once WotLK hits, similar to the way that 20-60 is now faster than it used to be. This is a great example of how Blizzard is really listening to its community. The acceleration from 20-60 came long after BC was released, but it was embraced by most of the community. Blizzard improved the questing process by leaps and bounds in the Burning Crusade, but players still had to get through the long grind to 58 to see most of the new content. This time, Blizzard is allowing players to have an easier time through older content to get to the shiny new stuff. I can't wait to see what kind of new quests they're going to have in Wrath of the Lich King, and this is just one more improvement to help keep my attention. This may also make more people consider rolling Death Knights right away. Genius!

Juggy's Addons - Grid

This is the first of many features about addons I use in order to make Juggy the best shaman ever and Xenophontos a halfway decent warlock. Grid is an addon I used much more while I was resto and main healing, but it is still pretty useful even while I'm enhancement. An Ace addon, grid displays party and raid health bars in a compact form, and it gives loads of information using very little screen real estate. This means that at a glance, you can see how your raid is doing. By default, it displays each party member as a small square within a grid. I think that is where the name came from, but can we ever be sure? One of the great included features of grid are the inverted health bars, meaning it fills up a dim box with color as the player loses health, making it easier to spot who needs healing in a large raid. There is also a built in range check that can automatically dim all player's boxes who are out of range. This feature is invaluable, since trying to heal players who are out of range can waste a lot of time. It's also a great feature for battlegrounds, allowing you to become top healer and help your side win. Lastly, my favorite feature of Grid is its use of the incoming heal module, which shows a visual estimate of any incoming heals on any target in the raid from anyone using Grid (or any other ace addon that has the incoming heal feature). If all of the healers use this addon, you can avoid a lot of overhealing. There are also border colors, center icon, and other corner icons that are configurable to show tons of different statuses of each player in the raid. I do like to make a couple of tweaks to the defaults, though. I play on a relatively high resolution, and I find the default size of the squares too small. So, I scale it up in the options. As a shaman, I have two dispel options, poison and disease. The standard set up has all types of debuffs appear as a single mark in one corner of the player's box. I go in and change it so that magic debuffs and curses don't show up and poisons are in one corner while diseases are in another. That way I know which button to press or totem to drop in order to cure all of my party members. I also like to be able to see when Dorkins is going to run out of mana, so I've picked up GridManaBars. This takes a slice of the square and turns it into a mana bar. Imagine that! Most of the other options are fine for me on their default settings, but Grid is highly flexible, so play around and look at the documentation to find the settings that work best for you.

Tier WTF

So Wade had a great question which a lot of people starting out ask, even myself. "WTF is Tier?!" I will admit that it took a number of times having this explained to me before I fully grasped it so I hope this will clear it up. Basically, the Tier system is a way to explain the quality of loot dropped and where it comes from. So Tier 4 Gloves, Netherblade Gloves, are not as good as Tier 5 Gloves, Deathmantle Handguards. Tier 4 Gloves drop in Karazhan which is an easier raid than SSC, where the Tier 5 Gloves drop. You'll also notice that both are part of a set. Tier 4 raids (Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair) have bosses that drop Tier 4 tokens, which are turned in at a vendor in Shattrath for a part of your class set. So, all you really need to know is Tier 6 is better then Tier 1 and when you get a drop it will fall somewhere on that scale, according to where it came from. I know it's confusing and I hope this helps. If I missed anything please help clarify in the comments. - Dr Dark

New Episode! 2.1: Slave Pens

The first part of episode 2 is now available! In this episode, the boys ran into a surprise guest boss. Ahune is a seasonal boss that was only in Slave Pens during the Midsummer Fire Festival, and it's a very fun fight. The Ice Lord had Project Lore shivering in their boots, and not just because it was cold. If you weren't around to see the event, you'll be able to see just how difficult and engaging the new content from Blizzard is becoming. So check out the very first heroic boss that Project Lore takes on, he's a doozy. This episode is my favorite yet!
