Patch 3.2: More Details On Crusader's Coliseum

- A new "epic 10- and 25-player raid dungeon with five encounters". The new raid will also contain an interesting property, the raid will sport four difficulty levels, 10- and 25-man normal and 10- and 25-man heroic. Did I read that right, we get one boss per week? Or are my reading comprehension skills shot from lack of sleep?
- Crusader's Tribute - The tribute system is an attempt to reward the best players for their consistency. The setup "will limit players on the number of attempts they get in the Coliseum each week." The less attempts you need to clear, the more rewards you can reap. Utterly fail and you get nothing. Better be sure to have well-oiled, well-geared, alert and sober members in the runs.
- New 5-man dungeon with three encounters. Each encounter will reward a Champion's Seal.
- New tier of armor and weapons. The phat loot will be modeled with Alliance- and Horde-specific themes.
The Argent Tournament Expands

This former Tuskarr-inhabited island has been turned into a staging ground by the Vrykul.
With so many new details about Patch 3.2 trickling out of Blizzard lately, it surely won't be too long before we see it pop up on the PTR! This time, they're letting us know a little bit more about what to expect from the expanded Argent Tournament. There's plenty to get excited about for those that have worn themselves out on the existing dailies, Paladin players, and even fans of the Black Knight.
Two entirely new quest hubs have been added to the event. One lies within a Cult of the Damned camp that's just been set up to spy on the Crusade's activities (does this mean you'll be able to work for the bad guys in some capacity?), and the other takes place on a sizable island just off the coast that Sea Vrykul have claimed as their own. Remember those guys in Borean Tundra who made everything so misty? Well, they're back to pester you again and they're apparently attacking the Sunreavers' ships, which occupy the waters between the coast and the island.
More quests will be available for those that have already achieved notoriety in the Tournament, itself. Those who are exalted with the Silver Covenant or Sunreavers will gain access to three new (randomized) dailies through which they will be able to earn more seals. New rewards have, of course, been added for you to spend your hard-earned seals on including tabards and two new mounts (one flying and one ground) representative of either faction, and a vanity pet called the Shimmering Wyrmling which will be available to players of both sides.
For the true Argent Tournament Obsessives, the ones who have achieved the Crusader title already, even more quests and rewards will open up. Yet another new line of dailies will appear (at least two will reward seals), but the things you can purchase are even more exciting! There will be new heirloom goodies to send to your alts, an Argent Crusade Banner and Tabard (the latter of which has the ability to transport you directly to the Tournament from anywhere), and an upgraded squire who comes with his own summonable mount. It has a reported eight-hour cooldown, but the upgraded squire can serve as either a bank, vendor, or mailbox!
Likewise, Paladins who are tired of their old Charger can trade it in for a fresh, new Argent Crusade-themed one.
Blizzard also reports that the terrible Black Knight will make his triumphant return. What, you thought you killed him?
Is this the true face of the Black Knight?!
Pfft! That was only a flesh wound!
For those that have run themselves ragged on the Argent Tournament, it seems like there is a whole lot of new stuff to look forward to. With so many dailies, there's no doubt it'll become the "go-to" place for anyone looking to earn some extra gold to foot the repair bills they get from the included instances! And for those that haven't bothered with it yet, there's no sign of them getting rid of any of the old quests (aside, perhaps, from the coliseum-building ones offered by the goblins out front) any time soon.
Full notes can be be perused at your leisure here.
Chime in below, readers. What do you think of all the new additions to the Argent Tournament? Does the amount of dailies make your head spin, like it does mine?

Patch 3.2: Call of the Crusade Announced

What, No Official Trailer?
Wow, Blizzard's holiday announcement was certainly unexpected. The company began discussing the intimate details of Patch v3.2 starting with its official title, Call of the Crusade. Previously, we were enlightened to some of CotC's updates thanks to various forum revelations, like the new battleground and Argent Tournament updates. Now we have some additional juicy details to salivate over.
As the title suggests, Patch v3.2 will bring us one step closer to the upcoming battle with Arthas. In preparation, the Argent Crusade will drastically expand their operations in the area thanks to all the resources we have happily donated. Those of you who are, like me, a bit bored of the Argent Tournament will be happy to know that the Crusade will unleash a collection of "new dailies, rewards, and more" in an attempt to lure us into the soon-to-be-erected coliseum. The Crusade's new digs is no joke, it'll contain not only a 5-player challenges, but 10- and 25-player ones as well. It is unknown what these tasks will be, PvP, PvE or some combination thereof.
For the PvPers out there, not me, you've got two things coming your way. Amazingly, the start of Season 7 at the outset of Patch v3.2 probably isn't the most exciting bit of news. Nope, that would belong to the Isle of Conquest announcement, a new "large-scale siege Battleground." According to Zarhym, the Isle will be a battle over resources that plays out in the style of “Wintergrasp combined with Alterac Valley.“ I absolutely loved the age old Alterac Valley - not the original, original incarnation, but the tweaked vanilla WoW version - and combining it with the best aspects of open world PvP makes this rogue sharpen his pokers and "practice my stabbing".
Best of all, it appears that Blizzard has gotten ahold of their patch development cycles, because this patch is expected in a more timely manner. When chastised by a player who didn't expect the patch before the end of the year the disembodied skull of Zarhym stated that his "presumed time lines are way too inflated? :)" Of course he could have been referring to when we will see Icecrown Citadel...that wouldn't be bad either.
New solo content, check. New PvP content, check. New PvE content - probably part of the Coliseum updates - check. So ladies and gentlemen, let the thoughts, impressions, QQing and sequels of excitement begin!
The Faulty Design Of The Argent Tournament

Yes, I Know My Achievement Score Sucks & No, I Do Not Care
It's been just over a month since the Secrets of Ulduar stopped being secretive and brought us the Argent Tournament. The new Icecrown area was designed to raise the level of solo content for those players who wouldn't be entering Ulduar any time soon, or ever. And we enjoyed it for awhile.
I've only missed 3 days worth of dailies since the tournament went live and would consider myself a bit of an expert on the subject. Don't believe me? Well then how about this dose of arrogance; I can down all four Champions for Among the Champions without healing my stead. That really should be an Achievement in my humble opinion. Doing anything that many days in a row leads to a bit of burnout and I am no exception. I can't wait until either new Argent Tournament content is added - how long does a coliseum take to build anyways? - or I can stop grinding those Champion's Seals. Only 70 more to go till I grab the five-some of pets, then it's back to grinding for the Hippogryph.
Enough background and qualifying information. The major fault of the tournament isn't that the content gets stale quickly, or even that it's more financially rewarding to not Champion every faction, it is the design of the Citadel quests. Actually, not the quests themselves, but the area of Corp'rethar itself. I'm lucky enough to have time in the morning to tackle my dailies when most people aren't online. Over the course of the month+ I have had to delay those tasks till peak hours, a time when the Court of Bones turns into a mini Wintergrasp. If I had to deal with the lag and lack of mobs on a daily basis I think I would have quit the Argent Tournament a long time ago.
At first I wrote off the problem as being due to the allure of new content, and wholeheartedly expected the area to become a wasteland in the near future. Last week's afternoon Citadel run told me otherwise. How did Blizzard not see this coming? They basically took the crowds of Dalaran, tossed them into a single confined area and have them fight over a limited resource (although quickly respawning). Who approved that design document?
With the reduction of the Hippogrpyh's price, the bird has been re-added to list of things to purchase. This means I only have...44 days left. Those added quests and chance to score a Seal from the purses can't come soon enough. Solidsamm deserves a break after the pets.
Do you experience this kind of lag, or is it limited to my aging and crowded server? Still plugging away at those Seals?
Patch 3.1.2 Live

The new patch, 3.1.2, is now live on all realms. We have been covering what would be in this patch for awhile, and it's great to see some of our long-lost favorite features implemented, like the equipment manager. Check out the full patch notes.
Here are my selected highlights from the new patch:
Equipment Manager- When enabled from the Interface Options menu, this feature will allow players to store sets of equipment, easily swap between saved sets using hotkeys, and pull items directly from backpacks or bank slots (must be at the bank to equip inventory from the bank).
I'm not quite sold on the equipment manager. I use Outfitter for all of my gear management and it's very robust. It automagically equips my lance when I enter the Argent Tournament grounds and puts on my PvP gear when I enter a battleground, arena, or Wintergrasp. I can also throw all my PvP gear in the bank when I'm going to raid for bag space and integrates beautifully with Fishingbuddy. The Blizzard implementation of interface components are generally not as good as player-developed addons (as evidenced as Omen versus in-game threat manager as well as all the interface mods from everything from the auction house to unit frames). We'll see how much this breaks Outfitter and whether it will replace it for most players.
New art textures have been added for Argent Tournament mounts. Any mounts already purchased from the Argent Tournament vendors will be updated automatically. Argent Tournament mounts with the old textures will still be available for purchase from the Argent Tournament vendors for a small Champion's Seal and gold cost (standard faction requirements apply).
Not only does this mean new, pretty mounts, but also that there are 5 more mounts, and cheap mounts at that! Five Champion's Seals is nothing, and 500g minus the 20% exalted discount is a mere 400g per mount. I might start seriously trying for that dragonhawk mount.
Vehicle health and damage output in Strand of the Ancients and Lake Wintergrasp now scale with the item level of the operator's gear. Power scaling is now 1% damage and 1% health per average item level.
Thank god! If only they implemented this on Oculus and the Eye of Eternity, then I would be perfectly happy with vehicle combat. Vehicles don't get tenacity, and this makes my average 7-8 tenacity buff in Wintergrasp pointless for actually doing objectives relevant to victory. Now that vehicles scale up with gear, there is a better incentive for getting gear for Wintergrasp and Strand of the Ancients.
All Lake Wintergrasp daily quests have been changed to a weekly format. The honor and Stone Keeper's Shards rewarded for completing these quests have been increased to compensate.
There are a few reasons why this is a good idea. First off, it should be noted that the honor rewarded from Wintergrasp on a whole has been nerfed to try to encourage people to do other battlegrounds. On the flip side, they changed the dailies to weeklies with much more honor and Stone Keeper's Shards. This means that there is less of an incentive to play Wintergrasp at every moments it's up, and instead encourages players to play it a few times per week. Hopefully this decreases the plague of Wintergrasp lag. Additionally, they won't take up one of the 25 daily quests you can do every day, meaning that overall the amount of gold and whatnot I can get each week has increased!
What changes are you excited about?
Argent Tournament Tips

I Need How Many Champion's Seals?!

Better Get Used To This View...
The Argent Tournament has become a big part of my daily routine. Thanks to the clusters of quests and little downtime between them, it's a perfect place to begin my day collecting coin. Then there's the added bonus of the "new hotness" content, helping me finish up my Exodar reputation, new Achievements (yes, I said Achievements), and most important, non-combat pets! It's these little useless critters that have kept me returning to the Argent Tournament grounds day after day.
It didn't hit me until recently that I would be a staple at the tent for the foreseeable future. Originally, I was striving for the pets and the Argent Hippogryph, but that all changed when I calculated the amount of badges, therefore days, I would need to hand over to the quartermasters. 450 Champion's Seals for everything. At a maximum of 5 seals per day, Solidsamm would become less of a staple and more of an Argent Tournament member! We are talking 90 days, three months for all of this stuff. Deep breath. At least we receive 50 Seals from Championing all the factions, dropping that number to 400 and only 80 days. God forbid I wanted to get some of the mounts...
The aforementioned benefits help ease the pain, but they will only last for so long. I've been picking up Champion's Writ instead of the sack of coin to move Exodar's rep along faster. Around the same time I finish Exodar's rep grind, I will be completing the last Valiant challenge for my final faction (Ironforge). At that point, I will lose the additional income of 50+ gold a day from those quests. Sure, I may have 10,000 gold already, but the easy income offsets the monotony. With the vanity pets soon to become the only driving force for my participation in the tournament, I doubt they'll all be by my side quickly. Hmm, perhaps I should just sell them to the horde for thousands of gold...
I'm lucky enough to have Naxxramas and solid crafted gear, so I did not waste Seals on other things. How has the Argent Tournament been treating you? Anyone crazy enough to try to collect all of the mounts? What's an additional 2700 gold, 225 Seals and another 45 days in the grand scheme of things, right?
Oh, and this should be the first Achievement section - outside of Northrend's exploration - that I finish in its entirety.
The Finer Touches of 3.1

Patch 3.1 was replete with major changes from small class mechanics to large scale raids. I have found myself appreciating the smaller changes of patch 3.1 as much as the game changing things like dual specs and Ulduar.
A change that was very timely for me was the ability to take flight paths over Wintergrasp. Originally you could not fly to your faction's Wintergrasp flight point, only out of it, and thus you could not fly "through" the flight point, making flights from Dalaran to River's Heart a real pain, as you had to fly up through Icecrown and take an 8 minute tour of west Northrend just to access your Oracle or Frenzyheart dailies. Using a flying mount was right out as well, as flying mounts are not permitted in Wintergrasp. Now that you can fly to Wintergrasp, you can fly through it, making it a quick 3 minute trip on the flight path from Dalaran to River's Heart and shortening most trips significantly. I usually just use my flying mount instead of flight paths as I don't want to have to calculate where the nearest flight path is to my destination and epic flying mounts are just as fast. This major change gives me a reason to use flight paths again and saves me a lot of time.
The removal of the requirement of flint and tinder to make a simple campfire is another convenient change. Instead of walking all the way back to the Sunreaver's Sanctuary in Dalaran or to a bonfire in Orgrimmar, I can simply make a fire without having to waste bag spaces on mats. It allows me to get my cooking done easily, and some people use it for the minor spirit buff to boot! Its another huge time saver.
One of the most annoying thing about crossing rivers in WoW was jumping in, getting dismounted, swimming for 3 seconds, getting on the other side, and remounting. Now mounts can swim! They do so at your swim speed (unless you have the illustrious turtle), but not having to remount saves those precious few seconds when crossing rivers or lakes. Thanks Blizzard!
The Argent Tournament was a major change, but giving me dailies I actually want to do in this location tied together a convenient path for effectively doing dailies. From that location in northeast Icecrown, its easy to jump to Storm Peaks for Sons of Hodir dailies or hop over to Sholazar basin for Oracle/Frenzyheart dailies. The "find this sword" daily and the fishing daily also send you to some other convenient locations that make doing dailies like the Kalu'ak ones less out of the way. It really ties together Northrend as a whole by making more locations relevant for dailies instead of a bunch of disjoint regions.
Finally, polishing off those professions should be much easier now. Cooking is theoretically easier to level to 450 with more recipes giving skill-ups longer. Training that required books for fishing, first aid, and cooking now can be done at trainers, and low level fishing has been fleshed out. Stats on lower items have been adjusted, like Leatherworking's Tough Scorpid set which now gives Agility and Stamina instead of Agility and Spirit, and the Turtle Scale set which now gives stamina, intellect, and spell power instead of stamina, intellect and spirit. Materials were tweaked to make low level items easier to make. Its now much more attractive to level professions at low levels.
What are your favorite "non-spotlighted" changes of patch 3.1?
Darkmoon Faire Achievements Incoming?

One of the first things I did after patch 3.1 came out was check all of the new achievements. Which of the new titles would I go after? What new and interesting boss mechanics lay ahead in Ulduar? Where might I be spending most of my time doing dailies? All of these questions were answered by looking through the long list of achievements that Blizzard added in the latest major content patch.
While doing that, one of the things I noticed was that above the Argent Tournament tab of the World Events achievements was a tab with no achievements available inside - the Darkmoon Faire. I asked a few guildies if anyone else had noticed or cared about this, but alas, I am was alone in my everlasting quest to increase that meaningless number by a few points.
Today on the Blizzard forums, there an official response from Bornakk, kind of. Well, all he said was, "No comment at this time. >_>" My personal hopes are that a revamp of the Darkmoon Faire is coming that will add in all sorts of achievements. One that I came up with was something like this:
