Who Is SaintGermain?

Ahh... so you're probably wondering who I am. You don't see me in the episode. You can't find me in The Totally Rad Guild. You won't even find me on the Executus server. So why am I here? I'm here because I'm the one behind the scenes that makes sure you get to see the guys take on new instances every week. If Juggynaut is the 'Charlie' to the guys in the room, then I'm sort of the Charlie's Charlie I guess. Either way, and for whatever reason, I'm here. And as an avid WoW player, I have something to say about WoW. Lots to say actually. So stay tuned my fine internet friends as I will in the coming weeks regale you with knowledge near and far of WoW, life and your place in this crazy mixed-up place called Project Lore. Rest assured that it will be fun. And if you have any questions - real questions about the game or life, not just lame questions like 'how do you make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich' - then feel free to email me at saintgermain@projetlore.com I have loads of stuff to do here at Project Lore, but if I get the time, and I am so inclined, I'll do my best to blog an answer to your question. Thanks for playin and have fun. Saint

Tier WTF

So Wade had a great question which a lot of people starting out ask, even myself. "WTF is Tier?!" I will admit that it took a number of times having this explained to me before I fully grasped it so I hope this will clear it up. Basically, the Tier system is a way to explain the quality of loot dropped and where it comes from. So Tier 4 Gloves, Netherblade Gloves, are not as good as Tier 5 Gloves, Deathmantle Handguards. Tier 4 Gloves drop in Karazhan which is an easier raid than SSC, where the Tier 5 Gloves drop. You'll also notice that both are part of a set. Tier 4 raids (Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair) have bosses that drop Tier 4 tokens, which are turned in at a vendor in Shattrath for a part of your class set. So, all you really need to know is Tier 6 is better then Tier 1 and when you get a drop it will fall somewhere on that scale, according to where it came from. I know it's confusing and I hope this helps. If I missed anything please help clarify in the comments. - Dr Dark

Add-On Corner Part 1

First off I want to say "Thanks" to everyone for making the launch of Project Lore a successful one. The feedback has been great and I can't wait to move forward with building this community hand in hand with you all! Now it's time for the first installment of Add-On Corner. I don't know about you but I can't live without my addons. The WoW UI is nice but man can you really tweak this game or what? We've been getting a lot of e-mails asking about my HUD in the show. So I'd like to talk about DHUD or Drathal's Hud. When I first installed this addon it was because I couldn't find a good combo point warning addon for WoW. As a rogue I wanted to have a quick reference for how many combo points I had accrued. Now I know there are little addons that just show balls floating in space but I needed something that was a little more clear. So I found this really interesting HUD that clearly showed the combo points right on the side of the enemy. I was not excited at first... weird tron like rings in the middle of the screen? But man after using it for a day I was hooked! It was amazing how nice it is to see such detailed information about you and your enemy right where you're looking anyway, at the thing you're killing. Now I will give you a few setup tips for this mod, take 'em or leave 'em, this is just how I think it works best. 1) In the "Layouts" tab set the option to have your info on one side and the targets info on the other. By default you have your health and the targets health on one side and your mana/rage/energy as well as the targets on the other. I found this way too confusing right out of the gate. You guys might like it so again take it or leave it. 2) On the "Misc" tab check the box for "Show Player Frame." I found it weird to not have my little icon in the top left corner. Also, when in a group the space is still there where your player frame would be but it's just blank... seems weird. Well I hope you enjoy trying out DHUD. I know it's a radical change but I think you'll enjoy it once you give it a shot. - Dr Dark

Oh Hell Yeah!

Patch 2.4.3 came out this morning and oh hell yeah am I happy :) Two reasons: 1. Mounts at lvl 30. Now all my alts can get leveling so much faster in that deadish zone of 30 - 40 where running from town to town has become so boring that you want to pluck your eyes out. 2. MOUNTS AT LEVEL 30!!! There I said it. Go get your mount player.

"I got The Farm"

"Oh yeah, oh yeah... Hell yeah! Suck it! LOL. I pwned u foo. I got teh FARM!!! Mmuhahahaaaaaaa!!!" So what? You took the farm in AB. And next time they'll take the Stables. And the next time I'll take the Mine, or they'll take the Lumber Mill. Or maybe the Blacksmith for fun. Those people who boast in bgs how cool they are or how what they just did was so cool or how big their sword is are usually idiots. They're usually the ones who suck so bad cuz they just lost the LM and BS and are now calling themself a hero by taking a flag that wasn't guarded. What is cool is if you do it as a team, as a focused effort and in response to an objective to win as a team instead of just being a pompas ass spouting how freakin' cool they are or how they 'pwned' someone three levels below them. Battle grounds is a team effort. Communicate and work together as best you can. And to all you idiot who think your gawds gift to Wow - Get a freakin clue! Until you can work as a team in bgs, you still suck!

E3 and Me

So as E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo for those who don't know, kicks off what kind of joy can World of Warcraft fans like me expect? Well first off maybe none as Activision/Blizzard pulled out of E3 back in May '08. That said there have been rumblings that there will be playable Wrath of the Lich King on the show floor. I will tell you all that would blow my mind! We've seen some great screen shots and some interesting game play video, sorta, but hands on with WotLK... killer! Now they've been slowly showing us what the 71-80 talents will be for each class which has really sparked interest, Shadow Dance?? What? Murder Spree?! Crazy... So here's to some great hands on time with the new beast, I'll be twittering live from E3 as much as I can. Here's hoping! - Dr Dark

Where's the Joy in an Alt?

So I've been leveling an alt. Now I will say that I have a lot of alts. Mostly from starting a character before I had a 70 and just losing interest before they were done. My first character was a Troll Hunter. I got her to 31 before the Burning Crusade... Well then of course we all had to roll Draenei, so I started a Paladin. After getting him to level 52 I realized I just didn't like Pally that much. I never wanted to Tank, I hate healing, and the melee DPS just wasn't kicking it. So I started what was to become my main, a Night Elf Rogue! Now that I have a full level 70 I've been wanting to level another. So I started a Druid... but I hate leveling again! So where is the fun? Is the fun seeing how fast I can level? Maybe trying to find quests I missed on my first go? I just don't know. So please if you have an opinion on how to level an alt without gouging your eyes out with boredom... comment here and let me know. - Dr Dark

I Am So Tired Of AV

I wish to gawd that people would learn how to play battlegrounds. It's hard enough to spend a weekend getting 12K honor points to get a nice new belt or something but to have freakin' morons f'kup AV by not know what the hell to do or what the real objective is really, really pisses me off! The game on a PvP server is frustrating enough so I don't have time for people who continually fail. So listen up all you people who don't know what the hell you're doing in AV and, for those that do, point your lame NooB friends and guildies to this post so we can clear this BS up once and for all. First let's focus on the goal of Alterac Valley. The goal is simple: to reduce the opposing team's resources to zero. Period. If you kill the enemy general, that team's resources go to zero instantly and you win. Got it? Enemy captains can be killed reducing resources by 100. Capturing a tower reduces their resources by 75. Capturing a mine gives your team 1 resource per 45 sec. Turning in various supplies quests increase you teams resources. Killing an enemy player reduces their resources by 1. Wait. What was that? Killing an enemy player reduces that teams resources by 1? Only 1? YES! Only freakin' 1 damn point. Damn it people listen up here. Caping a tower gets you 75 point reduction in their resources AND more honor points while wasting time ganking people or chasing after runners to try and kill them only, ONLY gets you 1 point reduction in their resources!! Sure you get 1 point reduction in the other team's resources and slight satisfaction for pwnin some Noob tart with the skills of a baby Murlock but that is a far weaker return for effort than say... KILLING THE ENEMY GENERAL! DO YOU FREAKIN GET IT YET?!?! So listen up all you noobs: here's how to win AV for the last freakin time. 1. Cap the towers. 2. Keep three people at each til they cap. 3. Take every graveyard you can all the way to to the opposing side's base. 4. Wait til all towers cap. 5. Kill the general. NOW stop pissing me off NooBs and go and freakin' win AV!

Kara Love!

Well it finally happened. After a few uneventful trips into Karazhan I got the drop day. We actually had a ton of world drop Epics including my new, yes I know they're for druids, feet Zierhut's Lost Treads. Also I was able to land Malchazeen for my PvP dagger spec... very nice! Oh and Maiden dropped these little bad boys, Bracers of Maliciousness. So it was a good day :) Oh yeah and this off of Chess... Mithril Chain of Heroism... too many Epics in one run? No on your life!!! - Dr Dark

Leveling A Mage... Again...

Mage Armor Yes. I am leveling a mage... again. Why you ask. Well I suppose it's a few different reasons. 1. My guild split up and that sucked. 2. 'Old' content is still fun. 3. I can do it better the second time around. This time I'll actually pick a quicker path and use addons to help me. For the first 30 levels or so of my first character, I had no idea about addons. None. Now they are so essential to game play, especially in end-game encounters, that I can't believe I did 30 levels without them. So go get some addons and level up a new toon. You now you want to
